What about Zyggy (Zygmunt)... Ok It's not my real name, but it is a name that runs in one branch of my family. They're currently on Zyggy the V.

I agree with rch. Consider carefully any "unique" name you want to give to a child, as a lot of kids' names I hear these days might sound very cute for a five-year-old, but "cutesy" on a grown-up.

Ewen and I are leaning towards Jane for a girl and Christopher for a boy.

My son's first name is Edsel and at that time when I gave it to him I didn't know that name was most associated with a Ford car that was a lemon. Interestingly enough, my husband's a Ford guy. So now, he has our son all excited to have an Edsel as his own car (yeah, we will have to restore one). How cool is that to drive a car that has your name on it.. LOL

I think my mom did a great job in naming me Xenia. But since the TV show (Xena) came out, people always call me Xena instead (and the joke about me being a warrior princess is starting to get old).

In the building complex thingy where my husband works there is a (just about) mint condition edsel for sale.. its soo nice.. i think the guy only wanted like 3 or 4 grand for it too.. Apparently it sat in a museum for like 10 years...

My name is Wilhelmina.. although not unique in the Netherlands or Germany its pretty unique in Canada and the USA.. but i like it well enough.. :-) (although i was called Willy growing up.. I did NOT like that one..)

I love the name Roisin -- in fact, I love Irish names in general, including irish spellings for more regular sounding names, like Eoghan (Owen)

We already have our baby's name picked out. I am a fan of somewhat unusual, but simple as well. My name is Majlinda (pronounced like melinda), so you can imagine the brutality that i recieved growing up. Almost every female in my family has that dreaded silent 'j' in their name, and that is a tradition i would like to let DIE!!!

for a boy we decided on Albin: we are albanian, and that is a very albanian name, although not that common overseas. plus i guess some big war hero had that name, which is always a plus in my husband's book!

for a girl my sister in law suggested Amra. it's apparently a name in the Quran, although i don't know who she would be named after. A lot of people name their children names out of the Quran without knowing the meaning behind it......my grandparents only recently discovered that they named my mother after a #######!!!! :o

I aint cool enough for a signature.....

Just goes to show that you should check to see where the name comes from and what it means before naming a child! lol...
