I don't know how I feel about "special" and "unique" names. Growing up with mine was hell but it's not as bad anymore. Sure, people misspell it all the time and ask me how to pronounce it every 5 seconds, but at least they're not making fun of me anymore. Har har.

And to kinda stay on topic, David likes the name Van for a boy... I haven't been able to change his mind about it, just yet. >.>

Not Van. Call him Station Wagon or Bus. Much better. Or maybe Salt Shaker.

I like some ethnic sounding names, but that are not too hard to pronounce. I don't like all the new preppy sounding names. Last year when I worked at the school there was a lot of "unique" kids names but they aren't too unique when you find out how many people are really named those at the same time. One of the most unique, to me at least, was Paloma. Never heard it before that.

I like Rosa, Maria, Lisa, April, Sonya

for Indian girl names(because of my hubby of course) I like Anjali, Maya, Priya, Sonia, Neela..I like short names.

For boys I'd like Nathan, Dakota, Jesse;

and for Indian boys' names...that ones kinda hard....Sujeet says I like some of the too common Indian boys names like Rajendra (could go by Raj, Rajendra is also Sujeet's fathers name), Rajiv, Jay, Kavi, Ravi, Sachin

We've pretty much decided that if we have a girl she'll probably have an American name and a boy will have an Indian name. Although I think the Indian names are really pretty for a girl too.

Don't make a name too unusual. For the sake of your children. The quirky name you give them at birth will be the same one they get picked on for later.

Worst name ever... (a shipmate of mine)

Ransom Cudworth Alexander

I agree.. lolol.. not because we like it, it means our kids are gonna like it!! :lol: they wouldnt even get a job with weird names (and thatza fact.. studies prove employers are more likely to hire people with 'normal' names)

The way to find out if you love someone or not, is by talking to them.

The more you talk to them the more you either hate them or love them.

I went to school with the members of a family whose surname was "Hickish". Their kids were named Herbert, Isaac and Hephzibah (Hep-Zi-Baa).

My daughter's name was Chloe, and I like Sophia, Caitlin, Beth, Sara (Sar-ra, not Sair-ra) and Genevieve for a girl, and Joshua, Oliver, Simon and Andrew for a boy (amongst others!). With me being Christina and my husband being Christopher we have enough confusion in that family of names already :lol:

My mother is named Wilhelmina, because her mother wanted to call her Billie but her father wouldn't allow it. Her mum just said "fine, we'll name her Wilhelmina and she'll be called Billie anyway!" - which she is, and always has been!

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.
