i know..

the reason why im tryin to get an entry level job is cos i know people wont hire me cos i dnt have exp here in the US..

and it sucks that even at a secretarial job they'll be askin me for that f*ckin history..

how am i gonna have that if nobody wants to give me a chance..

My husband has the same mind set as you. he says that he wants to start working at wal-mart or similar so that way he starts a work history here in the US. Speaking of work.............My hubby got both his EAD and AP in the mail TODAY (Dec 15)!! it hasn't been even a week since his approval and he already got it!! God gave us our Christmas present early !! and what's wierd is that the AP status on the USCIS webpage says that his AP is still pending LoL, well anyways just wanted to share some good news with all of you.

i told my hubby i would work in target just so i can have a work history and then work my way up..

and i also told him.. just to get use to my new environment.. but he doesnt want me to work there..

he said a secretarial, receptionist/front desk or customer job will do..

In my opinion the only good thing about a secretarial job is that most probably u'll only work 9-5 (no odd hours) and probably no weekends (at most on saturdays) with holidays off. But on the other hand if you work retail you can take advantage of the employee discount at the store, LoL. At first I felt the same way as your husband: Ricardo told me he wanted a job al Wal-Mart. But then he explained to me the same things that you just said about getting used to working here and about starting a job history in the US and working on up.

Either way both jobs have pluses. it just depends on what you want your work environment to be. I personally work for walgreens as a pharmacy intern and I definitely take advantage of my employee discount. Even though I have to work odd hours and cover other people's shifts, the pay and benefits are worth it. I had a receptionist type job a few years ago, and even though my hours were steady, I couldn't put in overtime when I was short on cash, but at walgreens (or any other retailer) I can do that, and if I work a holiday I get extra pay. Anyways sorry for babbling so much, but that's what this forum is for. Thanks again for the update!

Hello everyone,

Another day gone without any news or updates on my AP or EAD.

On the upside, I went today to check mail as I always think I am going to get my EAD in the mail without any updates as I have that happen to some people. I check the mail and see mail from Homeland Security. First I feel it to see if I can feel a card but I don't so I get a little nervous, maybe it's a RFE or maybe it's mail telling me that I had requested a service request.

So I open it right there, my hands frozen and my heart pumping like crazy..................

So I open it and it is the interview date letter for February 10, 2009. Also the Notice Date on it was December 05, 2008 and I had no updates on my file online. Did this happen to others as well

I am excited but also confused as why no EAD or AP

Has this happened to anyone else, getting the interview letter and no EAD or AP updates?

For those that have gotten the interview letter, it tells you that you must bring pretty much the same documents that you already sent them in the AOS package, just want to have heads up and be ready way in advance. I mean I have copies of all the documents I sent but some of the original that they want, they have.

For others that went to the interview, other than the documents already sent to them, what did you guys take with you for proof of relationship?

I still cant' work because no EAD but maybe that will be in the mail like this was.

We got the AP today on the 15th in the mail!!

We also got the second notification for the EAD card production. Hopefully that will

arrive at the end of this week in the next few days!!

Yippeee!!!

They seem to be moving along quickly to me!!

Just dreading that interview in January!

Question....once you get the greencard, you don't have to renew the EAD, right?

Might be a stupid question but I haven't read that far ahead yet.

Our interview went quite easy. It lasted for about 10-15 minutes, but the officer was very friendly and we enjoyed it.

Congratulations guys on the interview and approval. Glad you had a friendly officer.

We got our letter today for february interview. Can I ask you what you took as far as paperwork because on the letter it basically tells you to bring the papers that you pretty much filed. I mean I have all the copies of what I sent them but some of them they have the original and I only have the copy. Is that what they mean to take to the interview and as far as proof of relationship, what do they want?

My Wife recive her AP in the amil yesterday 12/15/08!!!!

One Question, what is the AP supposed to look like. She recieved two paper, both the same, with her picture on the bottom. One wierd thing is that next to her picture is is a box that says National Benifits Center Stamp and the box is blank...any ideas?

We also recieved a second email from CRIS saying that her EAD card production has been ordered. Why did we get two emails about this? Anyone else have this happen?

You could try applying for work at a University. Many schools have a 'International Student Office'. You speak more than one language, which is a plus. Also one advantage of working at a University is that you get free classes

You could try applying for work at a University. Many schools have a 'International Student Office'. You speak more than one language, which is a plus. Also one advantage of working at a University is that you get free classes

Also don't get too fixated about getting any job. I'd say a U.S degree has more 'weight' if you want to get a well paying job. It is *MUCH* easier to get a job once you have a U.S degree. I have never worked full time in Mexico, but I got my master's degree here. I didn't have any problem at all to find a job in my field, even without experience.

It's normal that she got two papers! one for her one for the officer at the airport. I think they'll stamp it at the airport when she will travel...

For EAD apparently it happened to a bunch of people here to recive like 3 emails " card production ordered"...I don't know why, but it happens and it looks normal...

Me it's my 75day today! I'm going to call this afternoon I think, hoping I'll have someone nice on the phone.

I have a question: in the past, I never succeed to get someone on the phone at USCIS, always automated voicemail...Does someone know what to do to get someone, a code or sth...??
