Someone can fall in love in the blink of an eye...maybe what you're really asking is how long does it take for a real relationship to develop?

I think it depends on the two people and the circumstances. Length of time together before being engaged has never been a reliable indicator of successful marriages.

i think it's directly proportional to bra size.

The way I look at it is. You could meet someone from your own town or city and marry straight away. The one good thing about the internet, your getting to know the person more this way rather falling in love with someone you met in a pub, at work etc.

I've heard this before here, and I have to say I don't understand. Do people who met foreign SO's on the internet really feel that their relationship is *superior* to those who met by more traditional means?

I've never thought that. There are pros and cons to LDR's as well as normal relationships, IMO. Living together certainly hasn't shown to be successful in leading to a lasting marriage. I don't think there's any one sure way.

Steven, can you post pics like that with a link and a NSFW disclaimer?

:blush:ok.

No. I just explain to the people who ask me. She may be an axe murderer or loopy. Some folk don't understand what it is meeting someone from the net.

All they see and hear is bad press.

Right. I've just heard it said many times that in an LDR you get to know each other *better* because you can talk without all the physical stuff getting in the way. maybe people are just using figures of speech, but it really comes off as though those who were not fortunate? enough to have been in an LDR really don't know our partners as well.

Charles, I told you NOT to post my pic on VJ ! :bonk:

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I never thought that Sujeet was using me to get to the US. Being honest. I could say all different reasons why I didn't think so but what's the point. Well he's been here almost 4 years and we are still happily married so I was right. We filed the K1 petition over 2 years after we started talking online and 3 months after I visited India. I'd say I started feeling love for him a few months after starting to talk to him. I can't judge ppl's situations on how fast they fall in love and send in the petition, but I have to admit sometimes wondering how some could be so fast after meeting online(I'm talking a couple months from meeting online to meeting in person and filing). But still I can't say whether I think they are or aren't really in love.

Steven, can you post pics like that with a link and a NSFW disclaimer?

I've read some of that here on VJ as well...perhaps it's more a reactionary defense rather than people really thinking that LDR's are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Actually for us, Jinky didn't really like write or read long emails, so most of our communication was through live chat or phone...and looking back at those conversations compared to now...there's much that is missed when you aren't next to each other, face to face. :)
