The first rule of thumb about timelines and how long it takes to process is that no two applications are alike. The fact that one person is processed through a service center by a certain date has no bearing on anyone else's applications for timeline purposes.

The congressman gains nothing from this type of information. Considering the nature of the information on an NOA receipt, I think you're doing well to be guarded.

I don't know the motives of the person asking you, and won't speculate. It does seem a little strange though.

There's a reason no one ever displays a NOA1 or 2 with all the pertinent information. IT's PRIVATE!!!

hey I got a similar thing; something's fishy about this. I'll just post it here, also revealing the person's name. I do this because if its no harm intended the person shouldnt want to hide his cry for help.

Hello, I think my K1 file is lost at the Nebraska Service Center. My

NOA1 is dated Feb 16,2006. I went to my local congressmans office for

help but because the official immigration website shows the current

processing date to be Feb 13 they will not help me. They said if I could

show them one case who has a NOA1 dated after FEB13 who has been processed

and has a NOA2 to prove it then they would put in a request to find my

file. I see from your timeline data that your NOA1 is after FEB 13 and

you have been processed. Would you be kind enough to mail me a copy of

your NOA1 and NOA2 so that I could get my congressman's office to put

in a request to find my file. I know this is a big favor to ask of

someone I do not know but I am sweating bullets over this and want to find

it looks awfully a lot like like spam to me, and the fact that lately Im receiving large quantities of it in my mail doesnt help my trust. it toook me about 5 minutes to find this thread in this forum, and im sure you perrypirate are familiar with it as well. now, since you've most probably noticed people reaction to this kind of request, why are u keepin doing this?

Why would you have to show someone who was approved yours is a whole different case with differnt variables. I would not send it seems fishy to me!

Yeah, I know. And I was trying to be nice and not give anything away about this guy but now I'm really glad Darkhut did because now everyone can know he's a scammer and everyone should be able to protect themselves. I don't know why anyone would do this except, as someone mentioned earlier, he was planning on fudging the cert. for his own uses or something. Who knows, who cares - just everyone watch out.

I would NEVER send a copy of my documents to anyone that was not official. If the person requesting this information wants to show something, they can print your timeline. If that isnt sufficient, then they should simply wait. It doesnt appear that the person making this request is outside of processing time and while you can compare cases for reference, everyones case is different.

If this person received their NOA-1, there is nothing to sweat right now anyway. Who knows his variables??...Maybe he is from Pakistan or some such place where terror networks are know to exist, etc.

Whenever I get a PM or email asking for case specific help, I always reply that I don't discuss immigration topics in private for the poster's protection and my own. Also, discussing your questions on the board benefits everyone in the community instead of just one person.

That policy would cover an email request like this. I don't believe the Congressman's story as reported, because there is *nothing* anyone can do about a case that is not already 30 days 'overdue' according to USCIS' formula and the OP's case doesn't fit that profile.
