I mailed my I-751 package to the Vermont Service Center today. It was a 2" binder, chock full of documents and photographs, organized to death into related categories, each within its own sleeve. So much time and energy. Hopefully the person reading the file will enjoy reading it, and approve it with no further ado!

Count me in with the October 2016 lot :)

I finally sent in my I-751 along with a ton of papers and some photos on Tues., Oct. 11th. They received it Friday, the 14th. I checked my bank account and noticed that my check was cashed today. They certainly don't waste much time cashing it! When people get their NOA1, does it usually say that the Green Card has been extended for 1 year while they process the application?

Great news! Yes, the first sentence of the NOA states "your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year".

Hello All, Is it possible to file I-751 online using USCIS ELIS? Thanks in advance..

Hi DrZ,

I do not think you can file I-751 online or not that I'm aware of. But, I do know there is some agency like this https://www.immigrationdirect.com/greencard/Form-I-751-Remove-Conditions-Residence-Greencard.jsp?gclid=CJDBpOOD3ZsCFRxNagodaByv_g where you can file online through them but they will charge you.

Look at this VisaJounrey forum as well, it will make you more clear

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/208141-online-filing-i-751-good-or-no-good/

Directly from USCIS I-751 instruction page:

USCIS ELIS Account Number (if any). If you have previously filed an application, petition, or request using the USCIS Electronic Immigration System (USCIS ELIS), provide the USCIS ELIS Account Number you were issued by the system. The USCIS ELIS Account Number is not the same as an A-Number. If you were issued a USCIS ELIS Account Number, enter it in the space provided

Hello everyone,

Today we got our I-751 application and paperwork back from USCIS :crying:

They said we filed too early....we received a letter from them on 10/8 say8ing: "Our records indicate that you entered the U.S. as a conditional permanent resident on 1/13/15" and the letter goes on to say we must file 90 days prior to the Jan 13th date. The letter we received today said we filed too early since my husband's GC expired on 1/30/17 and they said to file 90days prior to that date (1/30).....

So beware everyone.....DO NOT SEND paperwork by the date provided in the letter from USCIS (if you get a reminder letter) use the Expiration Date printed on your GC.

We'll wait to resend the paperwork again end of this month so they get it by 10/30.....If anyone can update us on the list would be appreciated.

Good luck everyone!

Hey Guys,

I'm a DEC filer too and I have some questions before I submit the documents to USCIS?

1. USCIS updated the I-751 form and right now I'm using 11/23/15 N that expires on 11/30/2017? Is that the most recent form?

2. I have same scenario as Maria& Abdo (item 2) where my USC Spouse has kids from previous relationship. Do I need to include them on part 5 "Information about Children"?

3. on 15.a, it says "In care of Name", Shall I put my name and my wife name or just leave it blank?

4. My wife (USC) changed her last name to mine last name, so should I put her new updated last name in the form? She already changed her last name with Social Security but her passport still has old last name.

5. in some of the box that does not apply to me, Do I just leave it blank or write 'None' or N/A', For e.g. my Middle Name (1C)?

I will really appreciate any help from ya'll. I'm glad I found this forum just on time. we hired a lawyer while filing I-130, it cost us a lot.

Hello,

Regarding your question 3, I put down my husband's name. The letter was still sent under my name. Now I wonder what is the point of the question. Regarding the question 4, my old passport had a mistake in my name(first and last names listed under last name), which was what the USCIS went by when they printed my Green Card. It did not matter if my forms I-130 and G-325A had my name spelled correctly. I am glad your wife was able to get her name changed with the Social Security; I did not have such luck. When I went to apply for Social Security card, they insisted that the name appear as it is on the Green Card. That is how it is spelled at my bank, my driver's licence, and if I do not do anything about it soon, that is how it will be spelled on my college degree. I got my passport corrected and sent the corrected passport copy along with my I-751 and added an explanation in my cover letter. It is some relief to see that my I-797 had my correct name. So please send your wife's updated passport copy when filing for Removal of Conditions because USCIS will consider the name that is on the passport.

I sent it through my work with UPS next day air and it was signed for the next morning. Now I'm freaking out - maybe they never received it????

EDIT: I wrote this before I checked my bank account - they cashed my check!!! HAPPY DANCE!

Maybe corporate UPS shipping is the only one that allows shipping to a PO Box?

Hey, congratulations!! I see from your timeline you got your NOA too.

We finally sent off our paperwork so I added us to the list. :dancing:

Now the waiting begins..... :clock:

Also, in case you were not aware....you cannot use FedEx or UPS to send paperwork to a PO Box. (We didn't know this since we used a lawyer last time when we filed the I-130). We went to the USPS and they have Priority Mail express which you can track online.

Good luck to all October filers!

Welcome to the thread Maria&Abdo, I remember you from I-130.

You should be checking if they cashed your check. You will receive a NOA1 letter extending your visa for a year. This should be coming in a day or two. Then in a week or 10 days you should expect to get the biometrics letter giving you an appointment date and time for biometrics in a local office.

After that there will be an almost 6-months silence on the part of USCIS....However, keep updating your status in this thread frequently.

Thanks for the heads up.

Oh no, how could they? It was their fault asking you to file by that date . My Green Card expiration date is the same as my POE date. I wonder why yours differs. May you have better luck sending it the second time.

I sent the package on 7th, and CSC got on 11th. Check has not been cashed so far.

I have a question. Next April,(tight time)

I will go to France for work 2 -3 years, if I751 is still in the process. Can I apply i131 to show I am plan to drop my greencard?

does anybody know this?

Lida

Hi. It is my understanding that one files the I-131 to seek a reentry permit. Anyway, I hope this helps. It is from the USCIS website:

"NOTICE to lawful permanent or conditional permanent residents concerning possible abandonment of status: If you do not obtain a Reentry Permit, lengthy or frequent absences from the United States could be factors supporting a conclusion that you have abandoned your lawful permanent resident status. If DHS determines, upon your return to the United States, that you have abandoned your lawful permanent resident status, you may challenge that determination if you are placed in removal proceedings."
