I requested to pickup the passport with the visa instead of them delivering it through the mail. How long is the waiting time for it to be ready for pickup? I gave myself two more days in Bogota after the interview? Am I kidding myself that it will be that fast?

Anyone have experience w wait times for administrative processing in Colombia? Consular officer requested a new copy of birth certificate which we submitted 4 weeks ago ... No updates provided on website or emails.

Hello all, We're been DQ'd since late March and today, two weeks before our interview, an email which is signed from the consular section from the local embassy is saying this: Dear applicant, Documents are missing from the files received from the NVC for your case. If you do not present all the required documents on the day of your interview, your visa process will be delayed for at least two months. Pending Documents to scan and upload to the system: Public deed of divorce between X and X All the documents that the interview must carry out are: 1. Civil Birth Registry, with annotation of divorces, in case of having had divorces in Colombia of the Beneficiary. 2. Civil Registry of Marriage, with annotation of divorces, in case of having had divorces in Colombia of the Beneficiary. 3. Divorces, if any, of the Petitioner and the Beneficiary. 4. Certificate of Judicial Background of the beneficiary. 5. Financial Documents: I-864/I-864A/I-864EZ+Form 1040 with W2 or Tax Return Transcript/IRS from the most recent years, consistent with the date the Affidavit of Support was signed, from the petitioner , of the co-guarantor and of the spouse or household member with whom you file taxes. On the day of your interview, either the original or a certified copy of each document must be carried out. Also remember to bring the most recent tax payment from your petitioner and/or additional sponsors. We've already submitted a divorce decree but we're not sure if there are missing pages. Our plan is to go check to see if there are missing pages. If there are indeed missing pages, do we get another translation and upload to CEAC even though the case is at the embassy? Will this delay our processing time if we find the issue and fix it? Is there anything I can do to make sure of the situation and fix it as to not cause a delay in the visa processing? Any help, stories, testimonials or "this happened to me and we're fine" is appreciated!

Hi, I am in the process to apply for a CR1spouse visa, I recently saw in reddit a person who their marriage cert was rejected as they needed “copia del folio” seems as it may be a copy of the decree of the marriage (printed in a salmon colour) most notaries will not provide this document the one they provide is the “sumarized version”. Now I am freaking out cause my notaria refuse to give me a copy of the actual decree. I am wondering colombian people which ones did you provide please?

Hello. My fiance from Colombia lived two years in Argentina when he was younger. We were able to pull the Police Clearance form from the Argentina embassy in Bogota. Does anyone have an example of the Argentina Police Clearance? I know it has to include art. 51 exception. But if anyone has an example of it, it would be very helpful. This is the one they gave us. It includes a fingerprint as well. Just want to make sure it's the right form. Thank you!

Hello all, I am confused on getting the DCF started. I have been living in Colombia for three years and have been married to a Colombian for two years. According to the DCF article on Visa Journeys, I need to file the DCF here in Colombia at the US Embassy. However the Colombian US Embassy site has no information on filing a DCF or form I-130. Most of the links on the site about immigration send you back to USCIS. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Summary: My cousin (Venezuelan/Colombian, female, late 30s) and I (Colombian/American, male, also late 30s) fell in love during 2020. What was supposed to be her short, spontaneous vacation in the US turned into an unexpected, 10-month stay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Not having grown up together or seen or talked to each other in over 25 years, we were more like strangers; but over the course of weeks that turned into months, we got to know each other, and we discovered to our astonishment that we are very compatible emotionally, intellectually, and in the context of living together. Now, two years later and two continents apart, after many long-distance video calls and messages via WhatsApp, we realized that we want to spend the rest of our lives together in marriage (although without children, as neither of us wants any). Naturally, we would like to advance to this next stage of our lives as soon as possible. Our respective parents and the rest of the extended family have come around to our decision, as that is not so uncommon in Latin America. But due to several complicating factors, we are struggling to figure out which visa to petition for, whether the fiancé or the spouse visa. The lawyer that we consulted said what most of us here know already, which is that the fiancé visa is faster, at least in theory, but was hesitant to fully recommend it due to the aforementioned complicating factors. And, so, we are hoping that someone on this website or on these forums, ideally someone with similar circumstances, can offer us some guidance, because we don’t want to have to wait a year only to have the fiancé visa rejected, and then to have to wait yet another year after that when following up with a spouse visa. The complicating factors: We are both first cousins. However, our marriage would be legal both in Colombia, where she has been living, and here in California, where I live. She already has dual citizenship: Venezuelan by birth, and Colombian from both of her parents. I have dual citizenship too, but American and Colombian. Because of the international COVID lockdowns, she both overstayed her visa and exceeded the total time that she was allowed to stay in the US (though it was less than 180 days) before she could return to Colombia. She had petitioned USCIS very early for an extension in order to not overstay her visa or exceed her stay in the country. They responded almost 12 months later, a couple of months after she had already returned to Colombia. We filed all the appropriate paperwork and corresponding evidence of her departure with USCIS, and they closed her case/file. Hi all, I want to submit form i-129F as soon as possible since things are already on a huge backlog. Just one question about the proof. i have all the needed proof of a legit relationship but the only thing i am concerned about is that i havent given her the ring. next time i see her will be 2 months from now but due to the daily submissions of K-1, i dont want to wait that long. can i submit my application without any pics of the ring / me proposing to her? with the current information that i have its kinda obvious that its a legit thing. thanks

My wife just passed her citizenship test!!! But they did not mention anything about her 12 year old son. I thought he would automatically get citizenship as well. What is the process for him? Or did I miss something?

My wife is colombian and has changed her last name. She currently holds a B1/B2 visa in her maiden name and her current passport number. When she went to the Colombian passport office to obtain a passport with hew new last name she was told that a new passport with her new name would come with a new passport number, and her old passport and visa would be void. She would need to apply for a new B1/B2 visa. Is it true that, if you get a new passport number, that your old B1/B2 visa with the previous passport number is invalid? (The B1/B2 visa lists her old name and old visa number on it)

CRBA + Passport for Minor: As part of DS-11, it says you need to translate the birth certificate to English (and assuming Marriage Certificate as well, even though they don't mention it). However, since we are doing this application in Bogota, is that actually necessary? Curious if anyone has done the process as of late and can comment on this curveball. Thank you, Stephen
