  1. We had our Interview at the Bogota Embassy today. My wife's visa status was given "Refusal" and was given the 221g Yellow paper stating that they need a certified raised seal divorce decree. I wasn't thinking and had thought I had a copy of the raised seal and didn't think to check if it was the real one, because I had so much on my plate. They kept my wife's passport. Now, I think I am just overthinking this, but I think it is a good thing that they kept it. I am thinking that once they get that final document that they will immediately issue her the CR1 Visa. My big issue is that I am in Colombia and the divorce decree is in the United States. I don't want to have to fly to Nevada to get it, but if I have to, I just might to get the ball rolling. Has anyone been in a similar situation?
  2. I requested to pickup the passport with the visa instead of them delivering it through the mail. How long is the waiting time for it to be ready for pickup? I gave myself two more days in Bogota after the interview? Am I kidding myself that it will be that fast?
  3. My sister is petitioning my BIL that lives in Mexico but is Colombian. Could he have his interview in Bogota since Mexico is a Longer wait. He is a resident of Mexico, but a citizen of Colombia.
  4. Ok so we got our I-797 USCIS approval letter on 1-23-2023.. After about 2 months of nothing from NVC I finally sent them an inquiry for information as to what our next steps are, in the first response they sent me the case number starting with BGT. I had to send them another inquiry for the invoice number as well to be able to log into the CEAC portal. Once I had both of those I was finally able to login but I cannot pay any fees or see basically anything at all. The only message that pops up is this one : “Summary Information K visas are nonimmigrant visas that assist spouses or future spouses of American citizens in entering the United States. As with all nonimmigrant visa applicants, a DS-160 must be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case.” 77 days after the mailed I-797 was sent to us, we still have not received any kind of welcome letter or anything with information on how to pay for fees and submit the affidavit of support. It is not on the portal. We have since filled out DS160 (about 2 weeks ago) are we waiting for DS160 to be reviewed for us to be sent more instructions? Is there something else we should be doing? Or anything we can do ? Does priority date apply to K1 visas? Any further inquiries sent to NVC was responded with this : “To Whom it Concerns: You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General.” Any experience or information would be greatly appreciated! We are waiting to go to the embassy in Bogota so we can be together forever . I-129f was completed in November of 2021.
  5. The NVC sent our case to the Bogota embassy and updated it as "Ready" 14 days ago. We have not received the instructions package and called the embassy last week. They said the case was ready and that we can schedule the interview, and so we did, however we are aware that we need the instructions letter to be able to interview. We have not received the letter yet, how long is it generally taking for the bogota embassy to send it? Seems a bit concerning that they say it's ready by phone, yet we get nothing.
  6. Hi there, My husband and I got DQ'ed from NVC on July 8th...haven't really seen many interviews being scheduled at Bogota Consulate. (though I saw one recently scheduled on Sept 9th though they were DQ'ed after us). How many of you are waiting for interviews to be scheduled and when did you get DQ'ed Thanks!
  7. CRBA + Passport for Minor: As part of DS-11, it says you need to translate the birth certificate to English (and assuming Marriage Certificate as well, even though they don't mention it). However, since we are doing this application in Bogota, is that actually necessary? Curious if anyone has done the process as of late and can comment on this curveball. Thank you, Stephen
  8. I'm just wondering if anyone has a sense as to how bad the backlog is in Bogota for processing K1 visa applications and conducting interviews. We received our NOA2 in late August and we're still at NVC - have no idea how long we should expect to sit at NVC before being sent on to Bogota. Thanks!
  9. My wife and I were given our interview date for Bogota on Oct 15th. One of the 2 doctors available told us she needs to receive both doses of the covid vaccine before they will do the medical exam. Their is no way to get two doses currently before the 15th since you need 3 weeks between shots. Does anyone have any advice or experience here?
  10. Hello, I have a bit of a multilayered question for those in the know. I (natural-born USC) and my wife (Colombian national) are, along with her children (my stepchildren), awaiting our interview appointment assignment at the Bogota Embassy for a CR1 (plus CR2s for the kiddos) after receiving the notice that NVC was transmitting the cases to the Bogota Embassy. She has asked me about obtaining three original copies of my (the petitioner) birth certificate to carry to the interview. I used my passport as proof of my status/domicile in the US. I did submit my birth certificate with the I-130 paperwork, though. I am planning to attend the interview with her and the kids on their interview day. My first question is: If I submitted my passport for proof of status/domicile for the NVC part of the process, do I need to worry about asking for additional original copies of my birth certificate to carry to the interview(s)? My second question is: If one original copy of my birth certificate was used for each I-130 application, would I need to only bring the original and three copies, the original only, copies only, or...? Third (bonus) question, if anyone can provide insight: Is there any way to request that my wife's interview and the kiddos' interviews happen on the same day? Thank you in advance for any insight, and if I happen to have left out any information critical to answer the question(s) above, please let me know and I will gladly provide it. Cheers!
  11. Our case was recently updated to "Ready" on the ceac.state.gov website and the message says to wait for a packet of instructions. I would like to know who will get that packet and how? Is it my fiance (The American citizen) or is it me (The applicant)? Is it by mail or email? Thanks in advance for your help.
  12. Anyone in Colombia get their interview date or had their interview since the bogota embassy resumed limited services? If so, let us know the date NVC approved you and when you had your interview and how it went!?
