Worried About Length of Relationship

Me and my girlfriend have been together for almost half of a year now but I truly, and have no doubt about it, love her. She was in my hometown on a J1 student program here in Seward Alaska and that's how we met. She went back home at the end of the summer to finish her last semester of college and over the period of time that she's been home we've decided to get married. Our relationship is very strong and not just because it's young. We've been through A LOT already and it's only brought us closer together. I. HAVE. NO. DOUBT. that she's the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. She met my parents when she was here in Seward and I've talked with her family/parents about marriage. We want to get married this summer but Im worried. She had her phone stolen (containing most of the evidence of us being together) when she returned home. We got a police report of the incident and will include it in our package. I believe that we can meet all of the requirements necessary for approval but am just worried that the amount of time that we've been together, and the fact that the majority of our proof was stolen, will hinder our approval. Can anyone give any input, just for peace of mind? Or does anyone (who's been approved) have a similar experience??

May I know where is she from?

I don’t think it’s the length of time but the amount of evidence you provide immigration for the amount of time you were together. Many people on here have met their fiancé once and have been approved being together only a short time. They want to know that you both truly love each other and that you both know each other inside and out. At least that’s what I gather. Not saying it’s fact.

I'm not sure what kind of evidence your girlfriend had on her phone. This won't recover photos or specific media, but a lot of cellphone providers offer detailed paper bills that show a log (no content -- just a record) of every text message and phone call sent and received, including the length of calls. The records would show her texts/calls to your phone number, and vice versa. We used such bills as evidence when my USC husband immigrated to Canada in 2013. The provider should be able to give you such bills from past months.

Yep. And he who still has his phone should have records of chat logs and call logs etc and can submit that.

you should be fine, especially if you spent a significant amount of time together for however she stayed in your hometown. Many couples have only met once and spent maybe 2 weeks together. But the more you have spent with that person the better, you can't really truly get to know someone over 2 weeks of vacationing, so you want to be sure you are compatible.

In my case, we had started talking to each other online 1 year before filing, I first went to visit him and meet him in person 6 months before filing and we managed to meet 3 times total before filing for my visa, spending at least 2 weeks together each time.

Have you filed a petition yet?

Ever? No. I'm very close to sending it out though. Almost done, thank God.

Thank you all for the input. We are very close to sending it out and I can't wait to get the wheels in motion.

Since you have not yet filed the petition, you have a lot of time to gather evidence

YMMV
