Hi everyone!

I have a question and i hope someone can help me with it. After fiancee visa is issued on passport, my tourist visa will be cancelled? My fiance asked an officer at Miami airport who said that i can still use the tourist visa for travel even if i have the fiancee visa because they are two different visas, independent of each other.

Does it mean that after i have the fiancee visa is on my passport i can travel to the stated and use my tourist visa, return to my country and later (before the fiancee visa expires) go back and use the fiancee visa?

I thought that my tourist would be cancelled at the POE. Is this information correct or maybe the officer misunderstood the question?

Thanks

This information is false you cannot have two types of visas. Also, the k1 is for one time travel so if you exit on it its null.?

Do not leave US without AP or GC!... And no if the K-1 visa is in they will use it. (Have heard of one case in here where they did get allowed to enter not using the K-1 but think it was a canadian) ... I wouldn't trust that route.

You can have more than one visa, but a K1 is single use.

Thank you all for the quick reply.

At the end of the link "anitafeliz" provided it says: "Most visas, including B-1/B-2 and Visa Waivers, do not allow dual intent". I have a B1-B2 visa, so i believe it does not apply to my case, since this is a non immigrant visa.

I wouldnt take a chance then. Marry do advance parole. Or wait to travel once visa issues you have six months to depart Peru from your Medical exam / visa issue date. If you need to be there a certain date...

Dual intent doesn't relate to having two different types of visas.

Dual intent relates to having one visa that permits both temporary stay in the US and having an intent to immigrate, if applicable. This includes visas such as the H-1B visa or even the K-1 visa.

Ok this is true THANKS for clarifying but she has a b2 she cannot be on the b2 and intend to use the k1. She will be allowed a k1 or her b2 at least thats what im getting.

When the k1 is issued b2 will be void

Your tourist visa it's cancelled in the minute u cross the USA customs with the K1 visa.

The officer in Miami or any airport you entry will stamp your B1/B2 visa with "Cancelled by procedures" something like that...this means you didn't do anything wrong for having it cancelled it just intern procedures.

I know this because my friend who just got married with an american she told me that. Which means that if something bad happens and lets say u dont get married in 90 days ur K1 expires u will be out of status in USA and yes if u leave USA before the 90 days expires and decided to come to USA later as a tourist you will have to get another tourist visa. Fill the form.. pay the fee..all over again.

If you think about it does makes sense, because if u applied for a K1 visa u will later become a citizen and not a tourist after marriage.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
