Good evening to all friends.

I recently got an appointment for an interview in the U.S. embassy in the city of Jerusalem, and the deadline is August 14.2014 .. I live in Gaza Strip and perhaps you have heard about the war now taking place in Gaza and there're no solutions in sights perhaps I can not reach the embassy in order to make the interview because the only crossing which I can enter to conduct the interview is completely destroyed .Some friends advise me to postpone the interview and obtain a new date .What If i couldn't reach to embassy ? what actions should I take ?? how long does it take to obtain a new appointment ?

Thanks .

try to contact the embassy and explain your situation, most likely they will put your case on hold until you can make it. and the problem I don't think you can go to egypt because the border with Gaza is closed as well, if Rafah border got opened, and you can go to egypt, then email the embassy in cairo and ask them if you can do the interview over there, Be safe.

Thanks my friends . I have emaild the Embasy . and I got this letter .

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your email, and we realize that this is a difficult time for those in Gaza and their loved ones outside who are concerned about their welfare. The Consulate General continues to seek opportunities to assist United States citizens in departing Gaza, but cannot facilitate travel out of Gaza for visa holders or applicants.
We realize that the time periods for processing immigrant visa applications can cause frustration to many individuals, and we are sensitive to the many possible sources of instability and conflict in the region. Nonetheless, the Consulate General, like all U.S. embassies and consulates, must adjudicate visas in accordance with the provisions of the law and an interview with a consular officer is necessary before any travel authorization can be issued.
Please note that applicants residing in Gaza may visit during working hours (Monday to Friday, 7:45 am to 2:00 pm) any time they are able to obtain a permit to enter Jerusalem. Under normal circumstances immigrant visa applicants request a permit to enter Jerusalem by providing their appointment letters to the authorities in charge at Erez checkpoint. However, the Consulate General in Jerusalem cannot provide any additional assistance facilitating immigrant visa applicant’s entrance into Jerusalem. If the Erez checkpoint is closed by the Government of Israel for entry-permit applications, you will have to wait until the checkpoint reopens to visit Jerusalem.

That's good that they are aware of the situation so keep watching if that check point is open and try to get a permit to go to the embassy

hey - that's great that the IV Unit will see you at any time, no appointment needed.

Still have to get through a checkpoint into the other side - no clue on what to tell you about that.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Interesting.

I had assumed Cairo would be easier and more obvious.

Hello, and my heart is broken with what is happening in Palestine my prayers are with you and all who are suffering.

It's to dangerous for you to try to cross to Jerusalem and Egypt is not a good Embassy to go to nor is it safe to try to cross the boarder there. Is there any way you can leave to another country? You can have our interview anywhere in the world and would be good to ask the Embassy to make sure. I still think you should stay still but your still in danger no matter what you do. I can't even begin to try to put myself in your place.

Do you go and face danger? Do you stay and face danger? I wish I could fly you our and everyone else there.

Can you travel to Amman Jordan then go to the US Embassy there for help? Ok don't listen to me I have no idea, just wish I could help.
