V & J Peru Vermont Texas Peru 2013-12-13 2013-12-16 2014-07-11 2013-12-03 2013-12-09 2014-09-25 2014-07-29 2014-08-01 2014-08-07 2014-08-07 2014-09-03 2014-09-10 2014-09-18 2013-11-28 274* 3 207 54 We arrived at the US Embassy in Lima at 8:20am for an 8:45am interview (K3/K4 visas although they are non-immigrant visas, they are processed by the immigrant section of the embassy). 1) At 8:20am - We followed the second line for immigrant visas and there were only four people in front of us. After we presented the interview letter we were given three yellow access passes for my wife, daughter, and myself to be able to get in through security. It was very organized. Left cellphones at the check point as they are not allowed inside the Embassy. 2) At 8:30am - Once we passed security we were told to go inside and find the promoter and give him our interview letter. After we gave it to him he told us to go to the far side of the waiting area where immigrant visas are processed and wait for my wife's name to be called. 3) At 8:40am - My wife's name was called by the CO and asked to present the two DS-160 forms receipts for my wife and daughter and asked if we brought all the documentation as stated on the information letter we received with the interview letter and my wife said yes. Then the CO asked her to go ahead and paid the fees of $240 each for my wife and daughter at the cashier's window and wait for her name to be called again. 4) The cashier's window for immigrant visas is only open from 9:00am to 10:00am so we had to wait a few minutes before we could pay the fees. 5) At 9:50am - My wife's name was called again so we all three went to the window. The CO asked for each document, the passports, the medical records, the police certificates, birth certificates, marriage certificate, affidavit of support, the two 5x5 photos for each applicant and then my wife was asked when and where we met and how it happened. She also asked me where I live and how I obtained my resident status and citizenship. Very straight forward questions and the CO was very polite and courteous. She also took fingerprints for my wife only. Children under 14 don't get their fingerprints taken. After she gathered all the information and put the packages together and entered the information in the system she asked us if we had any other supporting evidence that we know each other like pictures, etc... We said yes and showed her the package we had of plane tickets, trips together, pictures, phone conversations, etc... and she said to wait again to be called in order to see the Consul and he may ask for it when we see him. She also said we all three should go in when they call my wife's name. She also gave my wife an information sheet regarding her rights when she enters the United States as a spouse of a US citizen (AOS rights as well). 6)At 11:40am - My wife's name was called and we all three went in and were greeted by the Consul. My wife was sworn in and fingerprinted again. The consul asked her how long we know each other, how we met, and when we got married. Then he asked me where I live. He step away for a minute, came back and said that my wife's and daughter's visa were approved and the package is complete, gave her a letter stating that and also the letter had instructions to go online to select a DHL location so we can get the passports back and we should do it today. I told him we already went online and selected it so I provided him with a copy of our selection and he took it and put it in the file as well and said they should be issuing the visa today and we should expect to pick up the passports at the DHL location we selected in about a week. He said congratulations and good bye :-) Total time spent at the US Embassy in Lima was 4 hours. We had a great experience from beginning to end. Everything was very organized and instructions given inside were easy to follow. The COs and the US Consul were very polite and nice. 2018-01-12
