That's nice to hear coming from someone who had their petition approved in two months, and the visa in hand, in a total of five months.

You need to inform USCIS when you change your address within 10 days .
after you inform uscis of your new address you can ask for a new greencard I believe it is around $450 and you need to do biometrics again.
You need to get divorced to remove conditions on your own,. You are probaby not going to police because you think you'll be able to remove conditions without USCiS finding out you are separated.
if you think you can fool them into thinking you are still with your wife you are making a big mistake because you need to send a lot of proof of living together in order to remove conditions without interview.
Once divorced all you need to do is prove that marriage was in good faith and then you can remove conditions on your own with a waiver.

It seems like you are planning on circumventing immigration laws on her behalf; I'm not sure that's a good idea.

Does she have a job or place in Columbia she'll have to leave? Will she be traveling with all the required documents for adjustment of status?
Tricky, she doesn't have intent but you do. I wouldn't risk it, but I'm a rule follower
    good luck

Was just laying in bed when I received a weird text. Was from USCIS saying there has been an update on my case. Jumped out of my bed and grabbed my laptop and went to the website and what did I see. My NOA2 has been issued. I am so happy and very surprised as well. I have been following what has been happening at the CSC and I really didn't think we will get approved until August. I am so happy and for all of you still waiting I hope you receive great news soon.

    (Organizer hat off)
No one here had a rougher experience than the member Sara, a true sweetheart who's still active on VJ. Her file was lost or misplaced for over two years. She pursued channels with dogged patience, finally reached a breaking point, and at last the NOA2 showed up. Sadly, by that time, her fiance had lost patience with the wait, and the relationship ended.
The epitome of classiness is how Sara handled every joyous VJ post of "We got the NOA2!" In every instance, she posted a sincere response of congratulations without one breath of self-pity, although her heart must have been breaking several times over.
Perhaps Sara will visit this thread and help to put your own waits into a different perspective by telling her story.

To be clear: her future in the US is in grave peril. Falsely claiming US citizenship is just about the worst possible thing she could do in terms of immigration consequences. You need a top notch lawyer. Many don't have what it takes. Choose one with a great track record and directly relevant experience - don't choose one just because her brother used him/her and they seemed to do okay with that case.

I would wait and see if you get an RFE, and if you do send it in at that time. I would also go over your entire package that was initially sent it. If your lawyer doesn't even know that Letter Of Intent is a requirement, it makes me wonder what else they forgot. If you do get an RFE, I would have long talk with your lawyer about getting some of your funds back because of his/her incompetence. Good luck

I'm literarily shaking as I can't beleive this stroke of good luck.
I feel for those that are still waiting and who were in line before us but this is also my second go at bat as we had a K1 denial before.
    Onto the NVC stages.
May we all be rejoined with our loved ones as soon as possible In Sha Allah.

Others have responded in terms of the process, but as someone who's read a lot of good, and bad, posts over the years I wanted to add a personal note...
I know nothing about your relationship. I don't know how long you've been together, I don't know what country he's from BUT I will caution you against marrying someone on the first visit. Not for his approval reasons, but to give you time to come down from your current high of this visit. To get your thoughts together.
Have you spoken about marriage before? Had you discussed him moving here before? What sort of relationship does he have with your child?
Have you looked at the process involved? Do you know about the financial responsibility you're signing? What did he leave at home that he can just stay in the US for months without having to go back and tie up lose ends?
This isn't a cheap process. The i-864 (financial form) is a scary one. He isn't allowed to work and won't be able to until he gets the EAD, which takes at least 2-3 months from the time of filing the paperwork (that doesn't include the time waiting to get married, get the marriage cert etc). Can you support him for that long?
Yes I'm a bit jaded. I've read too many stories about people being used to get GC's to read his surprise visit, surprise proposal, comments about loving living in the US and "after spending so much time together he doesn't want to leave me behind" as anything other than a red-flag for your relationship that you're being used. Again, i don't know you or him but I'm just asking you to think about it carefully. He isn't "leaving you behind" by returning to his country to process, he's doing the responsible thing to go back and earn money for his new family for when he finally immigrates, that's how I see it (some people think the opposite).
Please think about this before you proceed. By all means do what you want to do but make sure it's what you want forever, not "right now" when you're wearing the rose-coloured glasses from his visit.
Good luck to both of you with whatever you decide and congratulations on your engagement!

Vanessa didn't say it was her business, she was trying to give you advice, very good advice at that. There is no need to attack someone who brought up some very valid points. When you ask a question in a public forum such as this, you will get replies of all sorts, she is looking out for your best interests. Everyone knows you are going to do what you want, but there is no reason to to be so harsh to someone who was merely trying to help. You are taking a big chance marrying someone on a first visit and trying to adjust status. Just keep in mind that if he is denied when trying to adjust status, there is no appeal. Good luck.

I don't think Vanessa meant what she said in a condescending way. She was just trying to look out for you. You took her advise the wrong way. I, personally, totally agree with her. If it is so easy for your fiancé to up and leave his country in the middle of the working period, then he wouldn't think twice about coming back, so asking you to marry him on a whim is not that big of a deal.
If I was you, I'd get married and then have him go back home so he can sort everything out with his life back in Belgium. File for CR1 and take on this journey together.
    Good luck!

What is the point of getting an immigrant visa if you don't want to live in the US?
And no, just visiting the US will not be enough to keep the GC.
You could get a reentry permit, but it begs the question, why not just wait to immigrate until you are ready to, instead of paying for the reentry permit fee?

Why are you making this harder than it is? You answer the question as posed: Has your Finace(e) ever been in the US? Yes or No. If she has ever visited the US the answer is yes. If she has never set foot in the US then the answer is no. Do not worry, they will get the other information when you complete the G-325A form for her. What ever you do, do not over think the application form or it will drive you crazy.
    Good luck,
    Dave

Well said and I totally agree.
The poor guy feels awful for doing the right thing... why? Because you are making him feel that way.
Try to give him a break. He should NOT feel foolish in the slightest. Yes you are disappointed you have to wait... but seriously in the overall scheme of things this is just a bump in the road. Remember you love him and why you love him. Love doesn't blame.

Do you or your wife work? What's the income? If not your last hope is that who ever is in the U.S. gets a job that satisfies the limit on the I-864 instructions.
