This is where they do the NEXUS interviews but maybe someone there can assist you with this when you explain what happened and may even be able to get a supervisor to meet with you. The EAD will allow you to work in the US and the AP allows you to travel back and forth to Canada. Realize that you will have to be paroled in every time that you come back into the US. This means that you will have to go into secondary and wait while they take your photo and fingerprints as well as stamp your passport.
You will not be allowed to work in Canada while he is gone. I believe and someone else can correct me on this, that if you do work/reside in Canada while waiting for your AOS approval that this will be considered abandoning your application.

I know it is going to be a challenge but try to look forward instead of back. It takes a lot of courage to leave someone who is both physically and emotionally abusive. What you did by cutting him out of your life was extremely courageous and brave. You did what was best for you and your child. Life can only get better now that he out of your house.
You are going in a new direction and eventually this whole process with him will be over. The only ties that you will have with him will be your child and I doubt that any court is going to give any sort of custody to an abusive, lying, manipulative person like him.

I am so sorry that you are going thru this. I would be filing a restraining order against him right away. Don't let him bully you anymore with his threats and abuse.
Listen to Darnell. He knows what he is talking about. Contact USCIS. You don't want to financially support this guy just in case he files for any sort of welfare benefits while he is in the US.

Just make sure that you carry that extension letter with you when you cross over. Sometime they ask for it and sometime they don't. When I use NEXUS I never have a problem with my expired GC

If you don't have a NEXUS card you should really think about applying for one and then use it at the Whirlpool Bridge in Niagara Falls. This bridge is NEXUS only and they seem to be a bit easy going when it comes to weekly crossings vs. Lewiston/Niagara Falls/Peace Bridge plus there is never a wait there to cross and it is about a 5 minute drive to get on the interstate.
