okay,so what options do we have now?should the dad petition for him again?(he has cancer and my husband was his bone marrow donor 😭😭😭)should we wait to be referred to an immigration court?anyone with an idea?

Sorry for your situation and the cancer diagnoses. Why don't you and the father (donor) go to Kenya? I'm sure he can donate the bone morrow there, correct?

  2. I have a friend that has applied for her mom on the I-130. It was approved Aug. 27, 2020. Is there anyplace to see the wait times or the average time before the interviews, medicals?  The Manila Embassy has no time frame.

    Thanks

    Country                 Population       Total Cases      Deaths

    USA             331,023,450 2,935,770 132,318

    Philippines 109,591,202  41,830     1,290

How many test? The US has done a little more that 11 million test and about 1.4 million + results.

When the testing goes up, so do the cases. Recently the Atlantic Magazine has reported on the CDC and 11 different states mixing test results for the antibody and the viral test, which causes a misleading rise in Covid cases. Even CNN reported this: "The CDC says it's planning to separate those numbers in the coming weeks, but experts say the current method is unhelpful and potentially misleading."

"That's because antibody tests aren't used to diagnose current infections or determine whether someone is potentially contagious. Instead, they indicate whether someone has been exposed to the virus in the past."

Just looking ahead to my fiance arriving in the USA. I'm hoping I can go get her and help her travel back here (from Philippines) but that may not be possible.

I'm looking for advice on the best way for her to be able to contact me by cell phone once she arrives in the USA. We can communicate via FB messenger as long as she can get wifi but I don't want to count on that. I'm thinking along the lines of a sim card that she can pop in her phone and activate herself? Something I can mail to her in advance

Any advice? She has never traveled and is very scared of the long road here.

Alot of good advice here. I agree with the wifi comments. Use wifi and FB is the easiest. Also, you can get her a google number and use the google talk app to call via any wifi. Sign up on google talk, then have her download the google talk app. and use the google number on her phone. works great on wifi or cellular.

This guy keeps putting pandemic in quotes. Best to ignore.

The current shutdown is saving countless lives and no matter what, doubters will claim it was for nothing. They can’t comprehend that people are being saved by staying home and distancing.

Doctor and nurse here incase someone wants to debate science.

Okay, Dr. Fouchi has changed his mind several times. Other doctors have too. Is there science different that yours?  Some doctors say this virus is not as bad as first predicted...is their science different that yours? What do you say about possible fudging the numbers to make the virus look worse that it is? Is that possible or do you believe that is not true?

Oh God. Here we go. Please look at the countries like Italy, Spain and UK. This is NOT like other viruses/flus. It has killed and will continue to kill without a vaccine. Those that are currently self isolating including our elderly and with underlying health conditions are sitting ducks right now. And you may ask how I know this??? ICU nurse here and seeing first hand that this virus does not discriminate. It is still killing those that are healthy and fit normally.

If you are going to be so resolute is your thinking, at least make an informed opinion and not one out of utter ignorance.

I am resolute in my thinking. I also have looked at the numbers from the CDC for previous years. That is not ignorance. Watching CNN and cowering in the corner is not an informed decision either. When this is in the rear view mirror and the actual numbers are in we can all speak with assurance. Now the projections have been wrong for America.

And those have not been deemed a global pandemic. That in itself shows the severity of this. The Spanish flu was deadly but did not spread like this due to how deadly it was and killed off those it infected. This is different. It infects and spreads far more dangerously in that you could be asymptomatic etc. The global spread and sheer stats of deaths should truly frighten you?? But no, since it has yet to affect you personally you will shrug your shoulders and say, death happens. Don't normalise this. It's really not.

Death does happen, even when we don't want it to. This is not the walking dead, I'm not hiding in my house waiting on CNN to give me the all clear. So if you are so fearful, you are for the temporary halting of immigration, right?

Just because you fear something doesn't mean I should fear it too.

The pandemic is here to stay until we get a vaccine (12-18 months). Social distancing will be the new norm for quite a long time.

It isn't just restaurants and travel related jobs. Plenty of other industries are getting hit real bad. Plenty of small businesses are close to bankruptcy. My husband works in one of those "safe" finance jobs and his company is talking about putting some of the people on furlough (white collar jobs, some of them on h1b visas).  Economy doesn't just bounce back that quick.

The 'pandemic' is not here to stay. The virus will be, just like the flu virus or corona virus' are every year. They are All around, still.  Those that are panic-peddlers seem to be hoping for a year or more pandemic panic. Makes no sense. Open up the country and let's get back to work.

I think the ban on countries was to stop them legally coming here not illegally,  correct me if i am wrong but this action will also suspend legal immigration,  no one here is talking about coming here illegally

The President is temporarily halting immigration, either all or H1B1 work visas. The reason is to "protect the people' as the media has droned on about for weeks. Now you have to decide, do you want this 'protection' that the media (and others) have been harping on for weeks or you don't. Also, if you are for not temporarily stopping immigration you are for opening up businesses again, right?

Okay, so his supporters are already anti-immigration. He has already been tough on immigration and already has his highest support ever from his base. He doesn’t have to do anything to strengthen their support.

Just because you don’t like Trump and this EO, doesn’t make your irrational theory true.

I don't think President Trumps supporters are anti-immigration, but I do believe they are anti-illegal immigration. I am a supporter of the President and alot of people I know are too; we are all pro-legal immigration.  Shouldn't we all be pro-LEGAL immigration? Legal immigration is what other countries are, why can't we be the same?

If that's the case I want our fees returned asap

That was my thought when I read this earlier. Will they refund the fees? Seems logical to 'non-governmental' people. I support this  move by the president. I empathize with those waiting even longer to get here, but President Trump is under alot of pressure from the Democrats and Media. He started taking action early with stopping flights from China and has kept the American people up to date with what's going on.

This will be a temporary move, especially if businesses open back up soon. I'm hoping for everything to get rolling again and President Trump does too, but for some reason certain sectors of the Government and media don't want the economy to do well...no sure why.

  12. Check Korean airlines. They fly out of Cebu straight to Seoul and then to US. (no stop in Manila) There might be a 14 day isolation requirement, but I'm not sure. Seoul airport has facial scanners working that record temps of passengers through the airport. As long as she is not sick there shouldn't be an issue.

    Hello,

I’m trying to file a report of marriage by mail with the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles. I’m not sure which forum my questions belong in, so I’ll post here.

The consulate is closed until further notice due to COVID19. Our marriage should be reported within one year of date of marriage (9/15/2019). My wife needs this report of marriage so she can get her Philippine passport renewed (expires 1/2021). Her green card interview was canceled due to COVID19 as I mentioned in my previous post.

We had the report of marriage document notarized yesterday. Now I read on the consulate website they cannot authenticate signatures on notarized documents, and the notarized document needs to be mailed to another office in Sacramento to be apostille-ized.

Has anyone out there been through this experience before? Maybe it’s easier to wait until the consulate reopens and go there in person.

I emailed the consulate and they replied they will accept photocopies of the divorce papers. Do I also need to have my divorce judgements apostille-ized?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Search for the Philippine traveling outreach or mobile counsel in your area. You will be able to get everything done there. Sending you paperwork to the Ph Embassy might not be as quick as you think. We were in the similar situation and sent our report of marriage to the PH Embassy in Washington thinking it would be fast. This was in January. We traveled to the PH in March to renew my wife's passport and visit family. My wife arrived at the PH Embassy in Manila at 6am, waited in line for a long time only to be told the Report of Marriage had not reached the PH yet or has not been processed.  So we waited longer.

My wife's sister did hers at the PH counselor outreach and got everything done there. Since then we have traveled with friend for the same processes. Easy.

I wanted to ask people's (recent) experience at the Manila Embassy for IR1/CR1 spouse interviews. I understand every embassy is different, as I have looked at some of the Manila reviews here on VJ . I will be there with my wife for her interview (hopefully June with this virus delay). Is it beneficial if I attend the interview? is it even necessary? I don't see anything in the reviews that petitioner/US citizen is even involved at all during the interview. 🙂

No. It does not matter to the Embassy, but it might make your wife feel better. It is not necessary. As long as there is nothing in her past or your past or a failed medical there will be no problem. If you're to the point of the interview the chances of a denial are slim.
