I went for my interview today… went in 30 mins prior. My lawyer supposed to come with me but she came late. So I went in without her. The IO asked if I want to wait for her but I told her there is no need. She asked my date of birth, parents name, if I have kids, I had two, the second one just one month ago. She asked for their birth certificates, then my divorce decree, yes or no question and that was it. She later gave me a paper that after background check, they will make a decision.
After 10 mins, I got update that my card is being produced. I’m so happy this is the end of the journey since 2016 I got married to my abuser . Filed Vawa 2018.
i wish everyone all the best.

There are two signs of senility:  the first is memory-loss, and I forget the other.
Will post a remedial joke this eve.

No point making an info pass appointment. It will waste your time and won’t get you answers . They will send you the same generic response like the one I attached below .

While your VAWA is pending the period of authorized stay doesn’t count as unlawful presence .

The purpose of AP is to enable you to travel for short term while your case is being adjudicated . The only issue I have heard people had was when they have unlawful presence before getting paroled or any kind of status . When you leave the US while accumulating unlawful presence . It might cause a problem at the re-entry . If you have never fell out of legal status . You have nothing to worry about .

As the week ends and a new month dawns upon us, I pray that all those waiting for good news hear it soon! May we end this year in victory. Amen!

It’s taking way longer than it should nowadays. At least the good news is they started issuing 2-year EAD’s now so that should be enough till your case gets adjudicated . Also if you want to reach out to your congressman. Reach out to one that you reside in .

put your zip code it will tell you who represents your district . You can go to their website and click on help with federal agencies . You should have all the info you need to complete the privacy release forms so they could inquire on your behalf . Good Luck !

You can check your case on the Save System online to see if they returned your file to the DMV yourself too . They usually take up to 20 days to confirm , When it comes to EAD you can try to request an expedite based on financial hardship if extension is coming to a close .

Mine has been 135 days since I got my EAD. Still hasn’t been updated to case approved online. . Some people got theirs in 2-3 month. Inquire through your congressman . If you got your EAD on I 360  it’s an approved case .

It’s a typical language for them to be vague . Talk a lot but say nothing strategy . The key sentence on this email to focus is “your constituent demonstrated substantial likelihood of being a victim “ Hopefully you will get good news soon enough before New Year . Is your work permit still pending ?

If you used credit card it’s common for CC companies to flag it as suspicious activity hence it gets rejected . I would advise to write a check for each amount and send it back .

It will not directly impact the interview process or vawa cases as USCIS is not funded by federal government. Unless your interview is in front of the IJ or Board of appeals it should be business as usual .

Oh Btw if your C31 expires on January it automatically gets extended for 180 days if I am not mistaken . So hopefully by the time of extension you expiration you will have GC or EAD on your hands.

To be honest with you EAD renewals are big mess right now. It’s really hard to predict . My friend got his renewal after 1 year of applying . But this time they sent her EAD for 2 years .

If you have conditional green card . I would think the best course of action would be to apply I-751 (petition to remove conditions  of  residence ) solo with a waiver as a battered spouse .
