Wegmans in Cherry Hill was my happy place (there's 1 in Moorestown too), definitely try food shopping there. That's probably the one thing I miss from there.

Sprailenes reacted to Darth Vader Ku in Not Applying For Citizenship - anyone else doing this?
Ok, so why would you think anyone else would be doing this? That's the point of your thread, right? A bit odd to ask for companionship on your bid to abandon your residency in a forum where people are banding together to seek advice on citizenship.
On a side note (and none of my business, of course), permit me to say that your strategy is a little short-sighted. A couple with dual citizenship from Canada and the United States will not only open up their travel and employment opportunities more broadly than any one citizenship alone, but will confer unique immigration advantages on any children they may have together. Saying Never in this rapidly-changing society where labour mobility is stronger now than it ever was is rather unwise considering that all that is needed from you to take this opportunity are six hundred and eighty dollars, and a few months of your time.
Good luck in Canada! Great country.

Not long. I already knew most of it without having studied any of it. I didn't actually ever study any of it, per se. The red brochure they gave me at the biometrics appointment remained unopened.
I ran through this tool to practice a couple of times and teach myself 1) the desired/acceptable wording of some of the answers, and 2) some answers I didn't already know off-hand:
    http://amaruk.atspace.com/tests/NewCivicsTest.html
Then had my wife quiz me using the same tool a couple of times over the days leading up to the interview, by which time I was prepared.
I do have a knack for memorizing information so I'm sure this is harder for some people.

This is the oath - it doesn't say denounce citizenship, you denounce your allegiance which is loyalty or commitment to another country or state. By becoming a US citizen you are definitely committing to the US. Another thing to remember is that only the country who gave you the other citizenship can take it away, hence the reason the US is not insisting you renounce all other citizenships, they can't take them away from you. There are definitely other countries which do not allow you to keep their citizenship if you take citizenship somewhere else but Canada is not one of them.
be free people - be 'DUAL' !
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."
ps yes abjure means renounce....but still, get over it

Going to the one in Philadelphia! So excited!
We're going to the shore on Saturday for the week but will be driving back for that. This is also the first summer since I have lived here that my son is staying with me, he's 13 now - doesn't want to go visit grandma anymore - so he's going to experience it too.

You know the ones who say they couldn't find a good woman in America?
Because when it comes to Canadian men? It's hard. Couldn't find one who wasn't a lumberjack, who didn't have a beard and have a closet full of plaid bush coats.
Do you ever notice much Canadian men just let themselves go? I mean would it kill to them to shave!? Would it!?
People often ask me why I came to America to find a husband. They just don't understand what we had to deal with in terms of men back home. If you had a choice between Brad Pitt and the Brawny man who would you pick? I am sure some women appreciate a man with soda crackers from last weeks lunch lingering in his beard but I like a clean man - with a bit of a rustic twaaaang...or in my case a bit of a Philly accent (PS: yes they have an accent).
Most of all I just like a man who doesn't shout "timber" in bed when...... it's all over.

I know people who live on the west coast and who feel a 5.8. It's not huge, but it's felt. A 5.8 in California, wouldn't be felt all the way up in Vancouver... yet a 5.8 in Virginia is felt all the way up in Sudbury - every place is different.
You can't take Florida and compare it to places like NC, NJ, NY and New England.
    They're all different places.

this is not true..lol... the biggest quake in the LA area in the last few years was a 5.5 and it got plenty of news coverage, they would take anybody's calls even if they were just reporting that their chandelier was swaying or a dish had fallen on the floor and people where running to the stores to get emergency supplies

Back in the day, there would have been a thread about Jack Layton, someone would have started it and we all would have joined in and discussed.
Back in the day, someone would have started an "ZOMG EASTCOAST EARTHQUAKE!" thread and there'd be discussion and a lot of jokes - Rob and Mel would have probably come in and told us to STFU because he's from the west coast and we're being a bunch of babies (haha)
So many events have happened just this past week and no one is discussing them. We used to do that.

Oh yes the good old days. I 'member those times.
I find this place got so whiny so fast... no one wanted to search for information - you suddenly had so many threads asking the same questions. Which is fine, it's an immigration forum. I keep up with most of the old posters on facebook. Still I know what you mean krikit, it used to be a lot of fun here.

Hubby and I are doing the local Race for the Cure this weekend, so he wanted to raise a bit of money. He decided to bring in cupcakes to work that people can make a donation for one. So I spent the day baking and icing cupcakes. I think they turned out pretty good....hopefully they will make some money for Breast Cancer.
