TBoneTX got a reaction from Persica in VAWA, Part 27
It is Wednesday already, and already time for our highly effective, always-hilarious Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:
===========================================
THE PSYCHIATRIST AND THE ANGRY HUSBAND
A woman went to a psychiatrist because she was having severe problems with her love life.
The psychiatrist asked her a lot of questions, but he couldn't get a clear picture of the problems. Finally, he asked, "Do you ever watch your husband's face while you're having relations?"
"Well, yes; I did once."
"And how did he look?"
"Oh, boy -- he looked angry!"
At this point, the psychiatrist thought that he was making progress. "Well, that's very interesting; let's discuss this further. So tell me: you say that you have seen your husband's face only 'once' during lovemaking. That seems somewhat unusual. How did it occur that you saw his face that time?"
"He was watching us through the window."

TBoneTX got a reaction from OldUser in What if we file the AOS just outside the 90 days?
Maybe (others can overrule this) you can put "applicant for Adjustment," or, more concisely, "Adjustment applicant." This is what a lawyer told me Mrs. T-B.'s status was, but we were within the 90 days.
They expired at port of entry. The I-94s expired. Again, others may disagree, but I wouldn't draw attention to the delinquent time of filing.

She sounded like the shoe was on the other foot and she still had one leg left to stand on, see Bro C man.
You should have chased the EzeeFiber clowns away completely for being incompetent and continuously incurring lawsuits, si mam ma'am. Or, better, flung poo at them, whee mam ma'am.
Are you a red-blooded American chica, huh mam ma'am?
If you were an advanced primate (as only one of us here, moi, is), you could have swung through the trees instead of endangering yourself on the ground, si mam ma'am.

TBoneTX got a reaction from appleblossom in Fiancee Visa Vs Spouse Visa
Thread is moved to the "What Visa?" forum.
-------
See the comparison, as compiled by our fine member Crazy Cat:
K-1
More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse cannot leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (up to 9 months)
Spouse cannot work until she/he receives EAD (up to 9 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, and bank accounts during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed
A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also
In some situations, marriage can affect certain home-country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire
K-1 entrant cannot file for citizenship until after having Green Card for 3 years
Once an I-129F has been approved, delaying the case is difficult to impossible if the need arises
If US spouse declines to participate in Adjustment of Status, the foreign spouse will have a very difficult avenue to legally remain in the US
Current Presidential executive order (travel bans) don't allow K-1 visa holders from some countries to enter the US
CR-1/IR-1
Less expensive than K-1
No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US
The clock for citizenship filing starts immediately upon entry to the US
A CR-1/IR-1 case can be delayed indefinitely at NVC if the need arises
Current Presidential executive order (travel bans) exempt immediate relatives of US citizens
-------
Whether you think that the processing-time of the CR-1 is slower, the benefits of it are faster.

You are talking about a USCIS adjudicating officer, not a Consular Officer. The number of people seen per shift is very different. and Removal of Conditions is a different animal altogether. In this specific forum, the discussion is about getting a spouse visa.

Ugh...I wandered over to let the EZFiber worker that was digging 2 doors down that all the houses along our side of the street have underground sprinklers. As turned around to walk back home, I wasn't paying attention and didn't notice that the neighbor's sprinkler head hadn't receded into the body like it should have and I smashed my big toe into the pop up, taking a chunk of skin out at the top of the nail bed. It was bleeding onto my flip flop. Bled through one bandaid in short order. Had to pivot bandaid strategies, exchanging a fabric bandaid with cute narwhals for a second skin NextCare plastic bandaid so I don't bleed through my shoe. Had to pivot shoe selection too. Ouch ouch ouch...😭

Isn't this a bit of Groundhog Day? You've asked about filing outside of the 90 day window, about your brother as a joint sponsor, etc in your previous threads. Why start a new one with similar questions instead of continuing your others?

Here’s a small update from USCIS — my wife’s and daughter’s cases have been re-consolidated, which actually saves us about $1,500. However, the hearing has been pushed back to 11/5/2025
Still good news..

Citizens are able to live wherever they want. Permanent resident have to live in the US, unless they get a reentry permit (and other rare circumstances).

TBoneTX reacted to PGA in Why do you want to become an American citizen?
OMG, these are some of the worst answers I could even imagine. First, @MMRF, quit believing everything you see on the news.
I want to be an American because I desire to have the freedoms set forth in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution that many other countries just don't offer. I want to have the ability to achieve the American dream and the ability to be successful in that endeavor. I want to participate in my civic responsibilities, as an American, to make a better future for myself, my family, and all Americans.

TBoneTX reacted to Lemonslice in Why do you want to become an American citizen?
You can phrase it in a positive way: "I want to have the rights to travel freely for longer period of times. I also want a real permanent status that will not need to be renewed and scrutinized every ten years. I will be happy to renew my American passport instead!"

TBoneTX reacted to Mozillaman in N-400 March 2025 Fliers
Went for standard; in all my years of having a passport, I've only ever gotten 2 stamps. I'm not what you'd call a world traveller! Also, the places I'm planning to go in the next few years don't even stamp passports anymore; it's all ETAs now.
Also on that note, the passport application is away. Ended up using my Canadian passport (photocopy) as my ID for my new US passport, USPS person said in theory you could use the naturalization certificate for both, but Dept. of State really enjoys having two documents and it could delay things without providing a separate citizenship evidence and ID evidence. Paid the fee for expedited, should be here in 2 weeks, so we'll see!

Absolutely! Once my Passport application is away I feel like I’ll get to sit on top of the mountain and enjoy the view for a while.

TBoneTX reacted to Caboose29 in Schengen questions - Russian spouse to interview in Warsaw (CR1)
As for Greece, she had an acquaintance on her visa form for her travel to Greece. My wife says she bought a round trip ticket from RUS to Athens BEFORE applying to show her intent to return. I think it was a 2-3 week itinerary.
My memory is a little hazy, but I’m pretty sure we bought the Athens to Warsaw ticket ahead of time, before she flew to Greece but after she got her Schengen visa. We booked that flight for just over 48 hours AFTER she arrived in Greece. I THINK she bought a one way to Warsaw. We weren’t sure exactly how she’d be in Warsaw. I think she was there 4-5 days (Covid vaccine complications). After her easy 4 question interview she had to wait for her passport to be returned to her. She then bought a one way ticket back to RUS.
After getting her passport back with visa, but before flying back to Russia, she could have flown directly to the US. Also since she was a K1, she had a sealed envelope with documents for immigration when she arrived in the US. You may not need them?
Any other questions, just ask. Glad to be able to help!

TBoneTX reacted to Dashinka in Is it better to marry outside or in the US for bringing a spouse here?
I respectfully disagree. My wife and I were thinking about her eventually gaining US citizenship even back when we were going through the K1 process. There was nothing nefarious about it, it was all about our desire to travel after we began our lives together and a US passport was much more advantageous than a Russian passport. That being said, who knows what the OP meant by the comment, maybe they are thinking long-term about living somewhere other than the US, or splitting their time between two countries (Australia and the Northern US would be perfect for snowbirds) and don't want to deal with REPs or other LPR maintenance stuff. There is nothing wrong with planning ahead when starting an immigration journey, in fact it should be encouraged to learn everything they can about the entire process.
To the OP, as other's have responded, get married wherever you want, even coming to the US to get married is an option using ESTA with your Australian spouse returning for the process to play out.
Good Luck!

Most affidavits from other people about your relationship don't help at all. Usually, they hurt, as they seem contrived. Concentrate on evidence of time spent together in person.
