  1. Biden Sets Record for Embassy Evacuations [...] Any one evacuation could have any number of legitimate causes unrelated to the actions of the president; after all, the world is a dangerous place. But once you hit 11 in 3 years, you can't deny the pattern, especially since one of the president's most important jobs is to help make the world safer, not more dangerous. Biden has clearly made things more dangerous for Americans and for the rest of the world. So which countries have we partially or completely evacuated diplomats from during Biden's presidency? 2. 'Arbitrary Enforcement' of Federal Law Roils Classified Documents Case Judge Aileen Cannon noted the selective prosecution of Donald Trump for keeping national defense papers the same week Special Counsel Robert Hur publicly defended his decision not to charge Joe Biden. 3. I see no downside. In fact, I'd offer all current bureaucratic employees a moving stipend of $6,000 or the chance to retire for a payment of one month's salary for every year worked. Then, hire locals. Your thoughts? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let's Move the Capital. Washington, DC, Squandered Our Trust. [...] The Capital today is far removed from the geographical and population centers of the country, which today are located well beyond the Mississippi River. The westward movement of the United States during the 19th Century turned Washington into a far distant capital for most citizens — perhaps more so than any other major capital in the world. Representatives travel vast distances to get there, and must travel back and forth to their states and districts to serve constituents, leaving Washington under control of its permanent residents, nearly all of them Democrats. The time has arrived to think the unthinkable: we should move the capital. The reasons for doing so are more compelling today than they were in 1790 when Jefferson originally raised the subject. 4. Be sure to report back here with what we hope is happy news!
  5. Oh, Bogota. Far too much material was submitted, unless you the petitioner had to submit legal papers from court cases or convictions. Regardless, you should hear something soon.
  6. Thread is moved from the main CR-1 forum to the Case Progress subforum. Welcome to the forum! Yes, it is. Depending on what, and where your beneficiary will interview (where?), this might have been appropriate. He should have known better. It's too much and all had to be disassembled by the USCIS mailroom people. Hoping that you hear something soon!

"Si, man," responded Mini-B., si man. We blew back to skool to beat first bell by 1 minute, just made it man. Back at the casa, Mini-B. had left inside door open, man. 9. Before I clicked into this article, I had a feeling about where it referred to. This area was absolutely barbecued by Hurricane Rita and those that followed. I'll miss a little town called Holly Beach just west of the subject city. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Battered by hurricanes and tired of rebuilding, 90% of population has left this coastal town [...] These days, the locals call Cameron a ghost town. Fewer than 200 people remain in what was once a bustling community with almost 2,000 residents. Before the storms, there were grocery stores, hardware shops, several restaurants and bars, and a functioning hospital. Now, Anchors Up Grill and a gas station mart provide the only food for purchase in Cameron. Locals buy their groceries in bulk once a week from Lake Charles, and a medical emergency could mean a death sentence, with the nearest hospital located 1 hour away. 11. Ketanji Brown Jackson Warns Right To Free Speech Could Lead To People Speaking Freely [...] As the nation's highest court considers whether the federal government can limit free speech on social media platforms, Justice Jackson expressed alarm at the potential for the First Amendment provision of free speech to allow people to actually say whatever they want. 12. Niger's military junta expels America—leaving room for America's geopolitical enemies Nobody in America thinks about Niger in Africa, but Niger matters in the war against radical Islam and in the world's balance of power. Now, though, we must think about Niger because it appears that Biden's foreign policy incompetence, combined with America's general weakness, has led to the new military junta kicking America out of a forward base that allowed it to attack radical Islam in the region and a country that's one of the world's biggest uranium suppliers. 13. Shame what's happening in Haiti. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bwa Kale: In Haiti, Vigilante Justice Has Become the Only Option CNN calls them vigilantes and militias but what they appear to be are regular people who are trying to avoid being killed and taken hostage by the country's gangs. They call themselves bwa kale and they are a violent response to the violence and threats made by the gangs who have taken over much of the country. 14. Rough Day in Court for Trump Legal Team As Judge in Hush Money Case Rules on Pre-Trial Motions [...] The case may not be proceeding on its originally appointed date, but it looms nonetheless. With the trial date fast approaching, the parties have filed and presented their "motions in limine ' (pre-trial motions) to the court. These are essentially motions seeking preliminary rulings from the court on various evidentiary matters. They serve several purposes: streamlining the case ahead of seating the jury, preserving issues for appeal, and sometimes framing the case and issues for the judge with the hope of setting up favorable rulings throughout the trial. Both sides will essentially ask for the moon, recognizing you rarely get everything you ask for — but if you don't ask and properly preserve the issue, you may not be able to raise it on appeal. Which brings us to Judge Merchan's rulings Monday on the parties' motions in limine. In a nutshell, they largely favored the prosecution and not the defense. 15. Just Like Any Other Third-World City, There's a Measles Outbreak in Chicago [...] In Chicago, there are now 12 confirmed cases of measles. Ten of the 12 originate from the Pilsen migrant shelter. One of the cases involved a three-year-old toddler. His mother says she's mystified how the youngster got the disease since he doesn't go to school. 16. At least here's one area where Bidementia is having trouble hosing us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ People Aren't Signing Up for Those New IRS Jobs Back when the Biden administration passed the hilariously named Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), a significant debate broke out over a provision that would funnel massive amounts of money to the Internal Revenue Service. The funds would supposedly go to hire an army of new agents who would diligently work to ensure that everyone was "paying their fair share" of taxes and that government revenue was predicted to increase. Conservatives pushed back hard against the plan, but most of the IRS funding survived. Yet the anticipated benefits have still yet to show up. The reason for this, according to a new report from the Inspector General for Tax Administration is that a sufficient number of qualified people have not been applying for the new jobs at the tax agency, and the hiring process is bogged down. 17. Can you believe this? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Actual Minimum Wage is $0 The good people of Seattle, or at least their representatives, professed great concern for the well-being of gig workers in the delivery market. They wanted to do them a solid by ensuring fair compensation for their efforts, so they came up with a wildly complicated system to ensure what amounted to a minimum wage. It didn't work out as planned. [...] https://hotair.com/david-strom/2024/03/18/the-actual-minimum-wage-is-0-n3784922
  18. For a liberal, Larry Summers is someone to respect in many regards. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Larry Summers: Inflation Much Worse Than Government Says Lawrence Summers, Treasury Secretary under Clinton and economic advisor to Obama, is likely getting himself into trouble once again with the Left. While president of Harvard, he blurted out the obvious fact that men and women may be different, leading to a vote of no confidence by the faculty of Harvard, and since Biden's election he has been critical of the president's economic policies, warning that they were harming the economy. Well, he's done it again, this time in an economic paper that provides the explanation for what the Left calls the "vibesession"--the persistent belief by Americans that the economy is much worse than the official statistics indicate. 19. Thread is moved from Off Topic to the Working & Traveling forum. Do this, and you should be fine. The same thing happens when newly married women have mismatched travel documents -- they bring a copy of their marriage certificate.
  20. Brilliant idea that might also include tax credits!
  21. This one hits 2 or 3 topics all at once. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Illegal Immigrants Politely Decline Free Flight On A Boeing [...] After illegally crossing the southern border, the Guatemalan migrants were kindly welcomed by government agents and offered a plane ticket free of charge, which they were glad to accept until they discovered the plane was a Boeing 737. "No thank you, I think I'll just walk instead," one migrant said through an interpreter as he walked out onto the tarmac at the airport and saw the plane.
