Comments, particularly from our veterans? Or do earlier observations cover it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alexander Vindman Represents Everything That's Wrong With Our Officer Class [...] Alexander Vindman—yes, that one—voiced his support for France's crackdown on dissent by tweeting, "There's a growing intolerance for platforming disinfo & malign influence & a growing appetite for accountability. Musk should be nervous." He goes on to criticize "free speech absolutists weirdos." So About Those Oceans That Were Just About to Boil Away... It seems like only last year [it was only last year, Steve —Editor] that we were all going to die because the oceans were literally figuratively boiling away. I'm not sure whether it was the massive amounts of steam that were supposed to kill us or the resulting Sharknado. I just know that whatever the oceans are doing, it's a VERY BAD THING, even though the Great Barrier Reef seems to love it. Seriously, the GBR is in better shape than it's been in for years. But now, "surface ocean temperatures are plunging rapidly around the world with scientists reported to be puzzled at the speed of the recent decline, according to Chris Morrison at The Daily Sceptic this week. "Less puzzlement was to be found when the oceans were 'boiling' during the last two years," Morrison dryly noted. December 14 is Monkey Day

We appreciate the sentiment, but we consider this to be uppity on the part of inferior primates. And we are apes, not monkeys! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When Your Child Is an Animal "Monkey love is totally different than the way that you have love for your child," Tonia Haddix, an exotic animal broker, says at the beginning of "Chimp Crazy," the documentary HBO series investigating the world of chimpanzee ownership. "If it's your natural born child, it's just natural because you actually gave birth to that kid. But when you adopt a monkey, the bond is much, much deeper." New School Year Means New Approach to Pro-Palestinian Activists The tent-camps and building takeovers may have ended last spring when students returned home for summer, but the start of a new academic year means all of these activists are back and are once again trying to influence their peers. That will be more difficult at Columbia and NYU after Instagram deleted the accounts of two pro-Palestinian student groups. Jonathan Turley. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meta CEO Zuckerberg admits he was part of the Biden-Harris censorship scheme. You've been warned, America "I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it." Those words from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg came this week with an admission in a letter that his company, Facebook, did yield to pressure from the Biden-Harris administration to censor American citizens on a wide array of subjects. For those of us who have criticized Facebook for years for its role in the massive censorship system, Zuckerberg's belated contrition was more insulting than inspiring. It had all of the genuine regret as a stalker found hiding under the bed of a victim. Zuckerberg's sudden regret only came after his company fought for years to conceal the evidence of its work with the government to censor opposing views. Zuckerberg was finally compelled to release the documents by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and the House Judiciary Committee. Now forced to admit what many of us have long alleged, Zuckerman is really, really sorry. Matt Taibbi is completely correct here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mark Zuckerberg needs to spill all on how FBI censored Americans On April 9, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) sent a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, reminding him of a subpoena in search of communications between Meta, the FBI, and "alleged foreign influence or election integrity." Jordan's office subsequently released a "Facebook Files" series, revealing documents showing Meta executives worrying about "continued pressure … including from the White House" to remove content. Zuckerberg this week sent a letter that, in a country with a functioning news media, would have major ramifications. Not in direct response to Jordan's April query, it appears to have been sent at Zuckerberg's own volition, and is filled with passages deeply embarrassing to authorities. With campaign at full tilt, surprise! Jack Smith strikes again Late Tuesday afternoon, Jack Smith, the Biden-Harris administration's special counsel prosecuting Republican opponent Donald Trump, filed a new version of the indictment charging the former president with four felony counts related to the 2020 election and Jan. 6. Smith amended the indictment in an attempt to make it comport with the Supreme Court's decision on presidential immunity. Smith was apparently in a race against time because the Department of Justice frowns on prosecutors indicting candidates too close to an election, and we are obviously getting close to an election. From the Washington Post: "In about 10 days, a Justice Department policy known as 'the 60-day rule' will take effect forestalling any new filing of charges against the former president, who is again the Republican nominee for the White House." Now, you can look up the "60-day rule" and see that some experts believe the actual number is sort of vague or that it is really a 90-day rule. If that is the case, Smith missed the deadline by a lot. If the number is 60 days, he just made it. And by the way, the old 60- or 90-day rule was based on the fact that there was an actual election day when nearly everyone voted. That is no longer the case; in many states, it's more like election month. And with early voting starting as early as Sept. 20 in some states, Smith blew up the rule any way you look at it. The new indictment comes 24 days before voting starts in those states. [...] https://jewishworldreview.com/0824/york082824.php

Jihadis launch terror attack from inside prison walls, for Allah's sake and Sharia law Less than a week ago at a high-security penal colony in Russia, four prisoners who identified themselves as the "Mujahideen of the Islamic State" launched a terror attack from inside the compound, taking security officers hostage—slitting a throat, gutting another, and brutally beating the head warden of the prison with a hammer and a bottle. According to Amy Mek's new article out at RAIR Foundation today, the prisoners were armed with knives and "makeshift explosives" that they'd obtained by reportedly bribing prison staff—the ordeal ended when Russian special forces were called up and quickly neutralized the jihadis. Now, also per Mek, several videos of the situation made it online, in which the terrorists made their motive abundantly clear: [...] https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2024/08/jihadis_launch_terror_attack_from_inside_prison_walls_for_allah_s_sake_and_sharia_law.html -
Thoughts, after reading entire piece? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tim Walz, Doug Emhoff, and the doltish 1990s and 2000s sitcom dad I was listening to a Ben Shapiro podcast (and I don't remember which one) when he likened either Tim Walz or Doug Emhoff (and I don't remember which one) to a 1990s sitcom dad. That struck me as being exactly right. We are seeing the result of American expectations shaped by decades of Hollywood's deliberate campaign against the post-WWII idea that "father knows best." This could have gone in any of several threads. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Horrific: An All-Male Illegal Alien Shelter Opened Near an NYC School Concerned residents in Brooklyn, New York have spoken out about how city officials opened a 400-bed all-male shelter for illegal aliens just steps away from a school. Catherine Herridge Has Full Readout of FBI Briefing on Trump Assassination Attempt [...] There's so much we still don't know about the assassination attempt or the shooter, Thomas Crooks. You'll see a lot of posts on Wednesday saying that Crooks had researched both President Joe Biden and Trump's whereabouts, with the suggestion being that he would have attempted to assassinate Biden if he'd gotten there first. Too bad they can't ask Kommie to simply print more money. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UPDATE: They Just Can't Do It - California Has No Money to Subsidize Illegal Immigrant Home Purchases On Monday, I reported that California was planning another huge giveaway, and it's a doozy; the California Legislature, which I remind you is controlled by a Democrat super-majority, meaning that they can effectively do whatever they please, was in the process of passing a bill that would have given up to $150,000 to first-time home buyers — but only if they were illegal aliens. Now, less than 48 hours later, in a delicious irony, we learn that there's just one problem: There's no money to do this. Newsom Tells CA Lawmakers He'll Force Special Session If They Don't Pass His Bill to Increase Gas Prices Grasping for relevance, California Gov. Gavin Newsom is in the midst of a bit of a temper tantrum this week with the legislature - threatening to convene a special session if they don't pass his proposal to further regulate California's oil and gas industry. Industry analysts say that the proposal, which would force refineries to "maintain a minimum fuel reserve to avoid supply shortages," would lead to increased prices for drivers in California, Arizona, and Nevada. This is blatant and outrageous. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Democrats 'Save Democracy' by Deciding Who Will and Won't Be on the Ballot in Swing States [...] In the Democrats' latest version of "I know you are, but what am I" (now reread that in a Pee-Wee Herman voice), they've taken it upon themselves to decide who will and will not be on the ballots in various swing states. Sigh. ~~~~~ Imam Instructs Columbia Students to 'Take Out' Jewish Professor Shai Davidai is a professor at Columbia University. He is also Jewish. He also recently learned that an imam instructed members of the student group Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine to "take him out." Looks like the school year at Columbia is off to its expected start. According to a piece in The College Fix, Davidai noted that he learned his name came up in the Aug. 20 webinar, "Islamic Political Activism." Davidai, who is an Israeli national and calls himself a Zionist, was targeted by Imam Tom Facchine. In addition to his role as an imam, Facchine is also a research director at the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research.
