  2. Great 40-second ad! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Watch: Senate Republicans Release Brutal New Ad Mocking MS-13-Loving Dems Visiting El Salvador The Democrats have been making fools out of themselves as they go to bat for violent criminal gangbangers who the Trump administration has been deporting to El Salvador for a stay in the country's CECOT mega-prison. Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen has been the poster boy of shameless failure theater, as he was the first to head down to the Central American country to try to "save" alleged MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia. He managed to meet with the detainee, but has danced around the allegations that Abrego Garcia beat his wife and was possibly involved in human trafficking. This after he virtually ignored the brutal rape and murder of a Maryland mother of five, Rachel Morin, at the hands of a different illegal alien gang member. If it sounds like a parody, it's because it's playing out like one, and Senate Republicans called out their Democrat friends on Monday with a very funny video. "Β‘Bienvenidos a El Salvador Senate Dems!" it begins, before encouraging them to make sure they only buy one-way tickets: [...] https://redstate.com/bobhoge/2025/04/21/watch-senate-republicans-release-brutal-new-ad-mocking-ms-13-ms-13-loving-dems-visiting-el-salvador-n2188128
  3. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer Recommends Andrew Cuomo for Criminal Prosecution House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced on Monday that he was recommending to Attorney General Pam Bondi that former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) for criminal prosecution, specifically that he be charged with making false statements to Congress. A press release from the chairman's office emphasizes how Comer had made such a recommendation last October to Bondi's predecessor, then Attorney General Merrick Garland, though the Biden-Harris Department of Justice (DOJ) refused to act. "Evidence and witness testimony gathered suggest Mr. Cuomo knowingly and willfully made false statements to the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic on numerous occasions about material aspects of New York's COVID-19 nursing home disaster and the ensuing cover-up. The Select Subcommittee's investigation exposed Mr. Cuomo's deliberate, self-serving effort to dodge responsibility for the thousands of lives lost in New York's nursing homes during the pandemic," the press release mentions early on. The release also goes on to later highlight the specifics of Comer's allegations against Cuomo: [...] https://townhall.com/tipsheet/rebeccadowns/2025/04/21/house-oversight-committee-chairman-james-comer-recommends-andrew-cuomo-for-criminal-prosecution-n2655879
  4. UPDATE: El Salvador Blocks Four U.S. Democrats from Meeting with Deported MS-13 Suspect The four Democratic lawmakers who traveled to El Salvador in an attempt to meet with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, deported last month by the Trump administration, were blocked by local authorities, who cited that the visit was not officially authorized. House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) confirmed on X that El Salvador refused to meet with the group of Democratic lawmakers after their arrival. "El Salvador just denied Democrats from meeting with the MS-13 gang member because they didn't travel to the country in an official capacity. I will never authorize a penny of taxpayer dollars to send Democrats to El Salvador for a photo-op & margaritas," Comer wrote on X. 6. One opinion piece. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Late Pope Francis Made the Roman Catholic Church Take a Massive Left Turn The Bishop of Rome and earthly head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has passed away. He was 88 and has died after a lengthy, lingering illness. He was the first Jesuit pope and the first pope to have been born in South America (he was born into an Italian family in Argentina). As the Jesuit order and the Roman Catholic Church in South America both tend to lean to the left, so also did the twelve years of his papacy. Pope Francis' papacy often sparked controversy, much of which he himself sparked. He received much criticism over one particular comment, which the Vatican later explained was his own personal opinion and not the Church's position. The Catholic Herald reported in September 2024 that Pope Francis had declared that "all religions are a path to God." He explained: "They are like different languages in order to arrive at God, but God is God for all. Since God is God for all, then we are all children of God. If you start to fight, 'my religion is more important than yours, mine is true and yours isn't', where will that lead us? There's only one God, and each of us has a language to arrive at God. Some are [Sikh], Muslim, Hindu, Christian, and they are different paths [to God]." [...] https://pjmedia.com/robert-spencer/2025/04/21/pope-francis-has-died-at-age-88-n4939080
  7. The Next Pope: Who Are The Frontrunners to Succeed Pope Francis? With the passing of Pope Francis on April 21, the Catholic Church is preparing for a transition that will determine its direction for the foreseeable future. As the first Latin American pope, Francis brought significant change as Bishop of Rome, focusing on social justice, environmental issues and a more inclusive Church. Now, the College of Cardinals prepares to gather at the Vatican for a conclave that will shape the Church's future. Their choice won't just name the next leader of 1.37 billion Catholicsβ€”it will set the course for doctrine, transparency and the Church's outreach to its flock. Will the next pope continue Francis's progressive reforms, or will the cardinals pivot back toward theological conservatism? The answer will be clear when the symbolic white smoke rises from the Sistine Chapel. [...] https://www.newsweek.com/pope-francis-dead-papal-conclave-frontrunners-2035569
  8. A Gracious Guide for Americans Visiting Greenland Wearing a plastic polar bear mask and a white bath robe, I danced the YMCA with the first female prime minister of Greenland. Yet, as exchanges go, it was far less awkward than most between Americans and Greenlanders these days. Greenland is an autonomous country that is actively on the path to independence β€” a path that the Kingdom of Denmark is proactively paving. So while politics may be more important than ever right now, so is politeness. Greenlanders want nothing more than to show visitors just how colorful this country is, despite its misrepresentation as little more than a big white blob on the map. From curtailing cringe-worthy comments to sparing yourself of innocent faux pas, here are four ways to dial down your red, white and blue behavior when visiting Greenland. 9. Interesting analysis. Just a fragment pasted here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How Pope Francis will be remembered [...] those living with and within the bubble of the daily life of the world's largest Church will remember a different kind of pope – a contradictory and mercurial pontiff who often appeared less like a sure helmsman of the bark of St Peter and more like a man struggling to ride a horse bolting in several directions at once. 11. TWENTY TYPES OF GUYS YOU MIGHT MEET IN THE MEN'S ROOM* *can be edited if necessary 1. EXCITABLE: Shorts half twisted around, cannot find hole, rips shorts. 2. SOCIABLE: Joins friends in peeing whether he has to or not. 3. CROSS-EYED: Looks into next urinal to see how the other guy is fixed. 4. TIMID: Cannot pee if someone is watching; flushes urinal, comes back later. 5. INDIFFERENT: All urinals being used; pees in sink. 6. CLEVER: No hands, fixes tie, looks around, & usually pees on floor. 7. WORRIED: Not sure of where he has been lately; makes quick inspection. 8. FRIVOLOUS: Plays stream up, down, & across urinals; tries to hit fly or bug. 9. ABSENT-MINDED: Opens vest, pulls out tie, pees in pants. 10. CHILDISH: Pees directly in bottom of urinal, likes to see it bubble. 11. SNEAK: Farts silently while peeing, acts very innocent, knows man in next stall will be blamed. 12. 12. This is in Niger, so they're probably desperate for any (pun intended) solution. Interesting sidebar: Native of Nigeria = Nigerian (male or female) Native of Niger* = Nigerien (male), Nigerienne (female) *years ago, I actually phoned the Embassy of Niger to ask this question
  13. Very gracious of Pres. Trump to order flags at half-staff. Francis looked like death warmed over during his brief Easter appearance. I honestly wondered if he would make it through that. In my opinion, Francis was a socialist first. I hope that the conclave picks someone who sticks more to religion.

  15. Weird: New Mexico Judge Resigns After Homeland Security Finds Tren De Aragua Member at His Residence What in the world was going on here? On its face, the facts seem pretty simple: an alleged Venezuelan gang member was nabbed by Homeland Security at a New Mexico judge's house, and the judge promptly resigned. The accused Tren de Aragua member was apparently living in a casita behind the judge's home. How did this rather unorthodox living situation come about, and what were these folks up to? Whatever it was, they had plenty of weaponry, as you'll see. Here's what an Albuquerque outlet reported: [...] https://redstate.com/bobhoge/2025/04/20/weird-new-mexico-judge-resigns-after-homeland-security-finds-tren-de-aragua-member-at-his-residence-n2188089
  16. One great way to improve Homeland Security: Get rid of the TSA Here's an issue for the new Trump appointees to the Homeland Security Advisory Council: deep-sixing the Transportation Security Administration's airport-screening work. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently ended collective bargaining with the union representing TSA agents after DHS found that more TSA employees are busy doing "full-time union work" than actually screening passengers on any given day, while 60% of "poor performers" don't get fired. But as any beleaguered traveler can contest, TSA's issues go far beyond that: Virtually the whole security/screening apparatus is a pointless circus. Having understaffed teams of low-wage workers screen millions of air passengers a day brings painfully long lines, contradictory and arbitrary "rules" (Are we taking off shoes today? Laptops out of the bags? It depends!) and countless invasive searches that turn up nothing but pocket lint. Take off your belt, empty your water bottles, throw out your aerosols, step aside for a random hand-swab β€” it's all security theater, and all for nothing. Yes, TSA still catches thousands of guns each year, some even in carry-on β€” but it evidently misses even more. [...] https://nypost.com/2025/04/19/opinion/end-the-tsa-privatize-airport-security/
  17. Sounds like he has his head on straight. Interesting article. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Interior Sec Doug Burgum Gives the Perfect Analogy for DOGE's Work Within His Department Easter Sunday's "Fox News Sunday" featured an exclusive interview with Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum. Even as one of the less visible cabinet members, Burgum's role in managing our national parks and the country's public lands is very visible and less opaque than some other cabinet positions. Which is probably why he has recently come under some fierce criticism. Much of the brouhaha and outcry is from environmental watchdog groups, which are using images of temporary employees having their dream jobs rescinded and parks full of people with no rangers to open the bathrooms or guide them. Jennifer Rokala, Executive Director of Center for Western Priorities issued a statement after Burgum signed the order which read, in part: [...] https://redstate.com/jenniferoo/2025/04/20/doug-burgum-on-fox-news-sunday-n2188081

  21. Scientists make incredible breakthrough after studying whale urine: 'We soon realized that was only part of the story' If you tracked a whale across the open ocean, this is what you'd see: They travel thousands of miles, burn through blubber, and β€” in the form of pee β€” leave behind a trail of nutrients that helps entire ocean ecosystems survive. Turns out, these bathroom breaks are doing a lot more than relieving pressure. A new study published in Nature Communications found that great whales β€” including humpbacks, grays, and right whales β€” are hauling thousands of tons of nitrogen from polar feeding zones to tropical waters every year, reported Popular Science. Along the way, they're quietly fertilizing coral reefs and coastal ecosystems that would otherwise run low on essential nutrients. Scientists have dubbed this process the "great whale pee funnel," and it's [...] https://www.yahoo.com/news/scientists-incredible-breakthrough-studying-whale-111556595.html
  22. Scientists make incredible breakthrough after studying human urine β€” here's how it could transform the way we grow food A report from New Scientist will give you something to think about during your next bathroom break. That's because experts are finding that human urine aged in the sun for a couple of months can be an effective fertilizer and pesticide. It was discovered during a trial in Niger that tested pee as a soil treatment. Pest management ability was proved, too. It's a solution on multiple fronts, as soil quality in West Africa is often poor, and fertilizer costs can be prohibitive, all according to the report. What's more, excess chemical fertilizers and pesticides can leach off the field, contaminating water sources. The fallout can cause environmental and health problems, according to North Dakota State University and Earth.org. 23. For the second time in modern memory (and in this thread), we have contiguously posted Wednesday and Sunday jokes. Because it is Easter Sunday, here is our relevant Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke: =========================================== THE BAPTISM An old drunk stumbled across a baptismal service on Sunday afternoon down by the river. He walked into the water and stood next to the preacher. The minister noticed the old drunk and said, "Are you ready to find Jesus?" The drunk looked back and said, "Yes, preacher, I sure am." The minister dunked the drunk under the water and pulled him right back up. "Have you found Jesus?" the preacher asked. "No, I haven't," said the drunk. "The preacher then dunked the drunk under for quite a bit longer, brought him up, and said, "Now, brother -- have you found Jesus?" "No, I have not, Reverend." The preacher, in disgust, held the drunk under for 30 seconds, pulled him out of the water, and said in a harsh tone, "My God, man -- have you found Jesus yet?" The old drunk wiped his eyes, coughed, and said to the preacher, "Are you sure this is where he fell in?"
  24. Van Hollen Backtracks As El Salvador Stunt Backfires Spectacularly [...] the senator's bold crusade has morphed into a classic attempt to backpedal. While Van Hollen was making a fool of himself, the Trump administration revealed the evidence that Abrego Garcia is, in fact an MS-13 gang member, but also that he reportedly engaged in human trafficking and domestic abuse. Suddenly, this photo-op to own Trump and his immigration policies became an epic self-own, and Van Hollen's tone has shifted dramatically, even accusing El Salvador president Bukele of setting him up.
