Our case is also at NVC since late July. We have not seen each other since the end of October 2019. We keep thinking something will change soon. Russian Christmas is January 7 so I don’t expect much this week.

Right they are closed until next Monday of course since they observe all holidays in both countries. Power to you as well, I hope things start moving soon!

It's really a mess. The Moscow Embassy prior to Covid used to be so good about K-1's and immigrant visas. Then overnight when Covid hit, it was like someone flipped a switch. Supposedly USCIS is claiming that applications went down (hence their budget crisis), but with Embassies being closed there will still be a huge backlog, not matter how you slice it.

Exactly! So I don't get how they think it's okay to still be closed. The mayor of Moscow just said government workers are now eligible for the vaccine...why can't they get it and then start doing their jobs again? 🤔

Yeah... what a year 😪. We can't even visit them yet. Borders remain closed, but I'm hopeful that the vaccines will begin to lighten things up.

I know :( I'm so surprised they kept their borders closed this long! I didn't expect that. But they seem to be distributing the vaccine pretty quickly so yes hopefully things will be looking up soon 🙂

And thanks for your input, not many Moscow filers are very active on here so I feel a bit alone

  4. Honestly, how does it make sense that uscis is continuously working and sending approved petitions but the embassies aren't? They've gotta think at some point, well we have thousands of applications being held at NVC they can't hold any more, we have to start dealing with them. Otherwise, USCIS and NVC aren't gonna work well either if nothing ever gets completed. The system just won't work anymore

Yup, I forget sometimes I even applied for the K-1 visa lol. It's been so long! I checked CEAC and it just says my case is at NVC. That's all. I tried calling their office but the answering machine says they are full and to call back later. Then just hangs up.

Yes I have no idea. I'll be in the same boat as you in a couple of months. Something's gotta change soon

My 3 year private visa to Russia expired so even though my spouse is Russian, I have no idea if I can get another 3 year visa at this time. Does not seem worth it to me to apply for a single entry "emergency" visit visa (if they would even grant that).

Given that Russia has a vaccine and we have a vaccine now, maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel. Really hoping the vaccines speed up opening up countries again.

Your positivity lifts my spirits, thank you :)

We just met in Istanbul for the the first time during the first 2 weeks of December last month.  We've been corresponding since 11/19.  I had originally gotten my Russian 3 year visa last March, intending to visit her at her home last June.  Covid squashed those plans.  Guess we'll be planning another international rendezvous before the K1 process is over.  I can't wait another year to see her.

I also have a three year tourist visa for Russia, they are great and totally worth it when Russia opens again for US tourists. It's almost been a year now since I've seen my fiance but I'm planning to meet him around the one year mark in Serbia if Russia still isn't open

You may come to regret that offer.  I hope to get most if not all my answers by reading.  I don't like being  burden to others.

It's okay! I did a lot of reading too when I applied but still ended up having to reach out to people to make sure I did everything correctly :)

I'm starting my K-1 this month.  Still working on putting together an RFE-proof (if there is such a thing) application.  My fiancée is in Vladikavkaz.  I'll be happy if she can be here by fall of 2021.  Am I being naïve?   I'm hoping by the time my application is ready to go to the consulate, that things will have started opening up and working again.....

Do you mean your I-129F application? Those are taking about 7.5-9.5 months to be approved and after that you still have to interview IF the embassy is open. So I would say you'll be lucky if she gets the visa before next year

I'd take RT with a grain of salt too, on the other hand, I see no reason to be excited for any report, we know how those go, and it never ends with anyone of significance being culpable, they make sure of that.

It's better that they post something though than ignore any updates and keep it on Russia

Ah, got it. Unfortunately it seems we don't have too many active Russia VJ members with cases pending, seems like many of them just come here, check to see if anyone else has news and then they don't really post otherwise. Have you tried emailing or calling the Moscow Embassy to see if they even respond?

Right, it's true. No I haven't because I'm still in the process of getting NOA2, I'm just worried I'm gonna be stuck in limbo if and when it gets approved

UStraveldocs website and Embassy website says that basically everything is still stalled with no indication of when they will resume:

Yes I do all the time. They haven't updated it for months. Just wanted to see if anyone else may have been contacted or found out information themselves

No need to feel nervous. If you have come this far than you are a part of the 98% approvals. You really at this stage must have demonstrated that you are a "really bad" guy. So, relax. Fill out the paperwork and go to the interview. BTW most are only in front of the CO for 5 min because the CO has already made up their minds on your case.

Really?? So nothing to be nervous about for interviews as long as you have a legitimate relationship then? :)
