When was your VAWA approved. As long as paid the fine you will be fine and it it is just one and only offence you have. I would say give it 3 to 4 months after your VAWA approval, after that either make an info pass appointment or reach out to your congress person.
Congratulations on your interview. I personally have not seen anyone stating that they were asked anything related VAWA/abuse during their citizenship interview. I believe you will be fine. Best of luck!
While there are many different experiences, it's not common for VAWA or abuse to come up during the N-400 naturalization interview. You will be fine.
When is your interview, and in which state will it be? If you don't mind sharing, that is.
I did not have to go there for an interview. However, i never heard anyone having issue there. It should be straight forward from your form i-485. If they ask anything related to abuse then you have right to ask for supervisor.
That's the spirit! keep yourself busy. Hopefully you will hear positive news soon. Valid EAD always great to gave to keep yourself busy. I personally took advantage of EAD in full, used it for work and travel.
like Rhema1 said if you have really bad criminals history then you need to worry about other than that you are fine. Just keep your EAD with you all the time now.
They are not suppose to ask you anything related to VAWA. Technically you should expect Yes/NO questions from form i-485.
However, you never know they might ask you question related to abuse and abuser spouse. You have all the right to ask for the supervisor if they ask anything related to VAWA.
Sorry to hear that. How do you know it is not a good?
I think probably they forget to collect some thing from you? Did you receive the second interview notice? have you tried to calling them?
You are very lucky to find out truth about him before coming to USA. He would have made your life miserable here. Hopefully you will heal from this pain soon rather than later.
HI Rhema1,
Hope all is well. Good to hear from you. Welcome back. Hopefully in coming days you will get receipts notices. I am glad you start that process.
I would say tell your sister to leave USA, give birth in her home country. This way she can have a child with her. If she stays here her husband might make things difficult for her and as some one said she wouldn't be able to leave without father's permission.
She can also file VAWA in her home country.
She needs to call and find out what's her status of i-485? She might not get the information online because of VAWA. She can also reach out to her congress person to get her the receipts which something i did few years ago.
