Settlements are more often than not disappointing for both sides. My non-fiancé is currently in litigation for getting hit by an Uber driver. To say our lives have changed is an understatement. Trial is currently set for mid-May, but it's likely there will be a settlement before then. His lawyer, a great PI lawyer and a very close friend of mine, thinks the settlement figure is likely to be north of a million, simply based on medical expenses and loss of income. We'll see. Word on the street is that Uber wants these cases settled fast because they're becoming a PR problem that's only growing, and fast settlement can mean more money. Of course,  money doesn't give you your old life back.

Who cares what the article says? I give you credit for actually using a site that is mostly factual this time, but the right wing bias certainly showed in this article. Without knowing what the settlement was though, how could anyone know who "wins". For all we know they agreed to give him a lollipop and a new MAGA hat. The only thing we can be sure of is that they both agreed to something. Chances are they are not even allowed to talk about it, so that's probably all we will ever know. 
 
   I agree with the last part though. Hopefully one of the others cases goes to court.  That way we will get to see who wins.

I think they could run their charities, for one. She's done some writing (at least if you count her old blog) in the past, and the first thing I thought for her was writing children's books for some reason. They'll be fine, and I hope only the best for their little family.

The fires that this article is referring to are small local fires started by arsonists. Sad yes, very sad 🙁. But it is not referring to the large bushfires that were started by dry lightening in the winter months , burning in inaccessible high country areas, through large areas of native Australian forests .. some of driest naturally occurring fire station in the world. Even when not in drought , the Australian bush is dry and it burns hot and fast

I don't view any of this speculation as meaningful and it is probably quite hurtful to some grieving families. 
 

So the Trump's benefited from dodgy loans from DB and this man was directly involved. Last week we learned that some of these loans were underwritten by Putin controlled banks.  I am not saying there is any connection to this man's death but if you insist on jumping to conclusions, why not be informed?

The decommissioning of coal-fired power plants in the continental United States has reduced nearby pollution and its negative impacts on human health and crop yields, according to a new University of California San Diego study.
The findings published this week in Nature Sustainability use the U.S. transition in recent years from coal towards natural gas for electric power generation to study the local impacts of coal-fired unit shutdowns. While the shift from coal to natural gas has reduced carbon dioxide emissions overall, it has also changed local pollution levels at hundreds of areas around the country. In particular, the burning of coal creates particulate matter and ozone in the lower atmosphere—often experienced as “smog” —which can affect humans, plants and regional climate. These pollutants (aerosols, ozone and other compounds) from coal burning can wreak havoc on human health when inhaled, and also have damaging effects on plant life. They also alter local climate by blocking incoming sunlight.
The author, Jennifer Burney, associate professor of environmental science at the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy, combined data from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on electric power generation with satellite and surface measurements from the EPA as well as NASA to gauge changes in local pollution before and after coal-fired unit shut-downs. She also studied changes in county-level mortality rates and crop yields using data from the Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

I am pointing out that telling someone to "just write a check if you don't think it's fair" doesn't address his primary concern that the uber wealthy will continue to accumulate excessive wealth because returns on investment are taxed at a far lower rate than taxes on wages.

Does any of this shock people? No, we know what Trump is it is acceptable or worse, he has a position of power that is to be envied. Flaunt tax rules, hire illegal immigrants, trade influence for political favors from foreign powers, cheat investors and suppliers ? That "makes him smart"

There is no indication that Friel threw herself at Trump. She asked for a job and he was in a position to give her a job. His response was to ask for a kiss. This is NOT normal. No one should have to deal with this. 
 
Men do not have to be pigs. I know when Alex's piggish behavior is just to rile me up, and when it's really piggish. I indulge the former because I know he doesn't really believe the things he's saying, and I speak up when he's genuinely being gross. He's open to having a discussion with me when these things happen -- he doesn't want to be a jerk (not word I wanted to use but would otherwise be filtered out) and offend women, because he genuinely likes women. At the same time, he's definitely a man's man, and when we disagree about what he's done, I'm open to hearing why he doesn't think what he's said is problematic. The door swings both ways -- I don't see things in black or white, and nuances are where a lot of truth lies. We are both working on being better people without losing track of who we are at heart.
