You can’t book the interview yet until it’s at least in transit to the consulate.

The system won't let you in if it's too early. You can try it, but it will say your case number is incorrect or such as that. When everything internally is in place for your case, then you can get in the system to book. In general, London needs your file on their side of the pond.  Meanwhile set up the medical appointment and double check that you have all the documentation needed for medical and interview.

NVC sends an email to the petitioner saying to file is off to London and gives the new case number. The embassy in London sends a letter to the beneficiary saying they have received the approved petition. It includes the case number, a photocopy of the approved petition, and says to apply for the visa using the instructions found on their website https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

Both. If you get the number then you can following your file enrount to your embassy and you can also begin some of the process their for your embassy. Find the UK sub-forum here on VJ where there are others are discussing what is needed and how things are completed in the UK. Go to the top of this page and in the blue ribbon select "Forums" and then scroll 3/4 down the page to find your country. Good luck.
Read the PDF file on the first page in the first post where you will learn more about this stage.

    Got an RFE today 16/12

I feel super bummed and stressed as I thought I submitted everything. So I guess I just need to wait and see what the issue is and fix it.

No problem. Great discussion for you and for others to read. It's an educational process and to learn you ask questions and banter back and forth to achieve the correct answer.

Darn, I wish I knew the Queens English. To many spelling errors.

Smokey Bear reacted to Wuozopo in DS-160 Questions...
If you try to book the interview and it says something like "invalid number", just wait a day and try again. Your number is not invalid, it's just that you tried too soon. Keep trying each day until you get in.
  23. Thanks
Smokey Bear reacted to Greenbaum in SEPTEMBER 2019 I-129F FILERS
I have seen that so many times and forgive me but I am A_na_al when it comes to what is and is not in this process. Because it matters. Denials are not a happy occasion. So, technically the DS-160 when submitted has never asked for a fee. But you have to have the DS-160 completed to PAY and schedule the interview appointment. It was about a year ago that they required the DS-160 prior to scheduling the interview and hence I see where people think that it's a fee since they jump right over to paying the interview fee in order to schedule their interview appointment. Anywhoooo. Have a wonderful day.

BTW, UK is so easy to interview. She'll will be in front of the CO for 3-5 min tops so having more then one visit isn't going to make a difference.
  24. Thanks
Smokey Bear reacted to Wuozopo in DS-160 Questions...
    @Smokey Bear

Once your case gets to London, you can submit DS-160, make your medical appointment, and go online to pick your interview all on the same day.  You pay the visa fee and arrange the courier while online booking the interview.

The wait now is getting case from USCIS to NVC and then NVC to London. Then all systems go to move along quickly.

The trigger to get the medical folks to make an appointment is knowing your new LNDXXXXXXXXX case number. The trigger to get online to make your interview appointment is the file being in London so the "system" recognizes you and lets you proceed. DS-160 just sits there and doesn't trigger anything.

Edit to add:: you don't actually need the letter from London. You can track your case number on CEAC and once it says "ready" you should be able to get in the interview system whether you have a physical letter from London or not.

  25. Thanks
Smokey Bear reacted to Wuozopo in DS-160 Questions...
Just wait. You don't gain anything by submitting now. Nobody looks at it until your interview day. Once your case reaches London (prob January) you can pick your interview date. Having a DS-160 in the cloud somewhere now in December does not get your case to London any faster, nor does it get you an interview slot any faster.
