  1. I used my Canadian banking account for direct deposit. They were sending me the weekly report card though via the regular mail to the US so if you don't have the CA bank account, they might be able send you a cheque. However, it might be difficult for you to deposit it here, with the conversion plus bank policies with foreign currencies. So better keep one CA account open. Online banks are free such as Tangerine.

Hey, I called Service Canada last week (2/16/21) to confirm that we are in fact eligible and the answer is yes.

Just to add my 2cents here - I just recently applied for it and it got approved. Applied Dec 2020 and approved Jan/Feb 2021. I quit my job Jan 2020 to migrate here but took my time to apply for the EI. Good thing that the evaluator still considered my application. I have to leave them a message and they called me back and explained to them my circumstances. Just a sound advise - please apply for it immediately so there will be no questions afterwards.

In the application forms, you'll have a space there to explain why you quit your job because normally, you are not eligible for EI if you quit your work. For our cases, we quit because we needed to be with your spouse and you'll be able to explain it in the form as well. In my case, they required me to fill out another form to explain or provide information why I was out of Canada and mailed it back to them.

It's just tedious that we can't file our reports online. In my case, I receive the form on a regular mail and send it back to them. Long process but works. :)

Congratations! What is total? You mean net? I understand gross to mean total, pre-tax income, while net is your taxable income after various deductions and credits.

    Thanks!

Ooopppss, sorry! TOTAL means GROSS, the pre-tax income before all adjustments and deductions. We took the amount listed in the IRS transcript from the line TOTAL INCOME.

Right. The thing is I don't pay myself an income.

I actually showed a loss Last year of $4000.

I don't use an S Corp, I have an LLC and am a sole proprietor.

Someone on this site must be in a similar situation.

my wife is also a sole proprietor of her LCC and we reported in our I-864 the TOTAL INCOME and not GROSS INCOME.

we got the approval for green card after our interview yesterday! :)

Anyone who filed I 485 on feb 21, have you gotten Ead and AP approved? I filed my I 485 on feb 21st and biometrics on April 4th. Since the Asc was closed they used my old fingerprints. When I check online, it says on April 9th, your fingerprints review is completed but since then no updates on EAD and AP. On june 3rd, my interview is ready to be scheduled for I 485. I see a lot of people who filed on feb 10th,12th ,18th, their ead is approved. Idk if I should wait couple of days to see any updates or contact uscis.

Sent aos package feb 18, received feb21, resent ead mar24 - ead and ap card on hand now. Awaiting i485 interview schedule.

I called USCIS this morning at 8 am EST.  They have upgraded their phone systems since we went through the K-1 process, so I'm happy about that.  They also made me act in the capacity of translator in order for them to get permission from Claudia for me to speak on her behalf.

The representative that I spoke with said that letters are starting to go out.

What was noteworthy was that if biometrics "are already on file from some other source," then they are skipping biometrics, depending on ASC in a person's area.  Other than that, he said that we should expect something in the mail soon regarding biometrics.

My wait time was less than 5 minutes to get to a live person.

At that time, the wait is really negligible. But call around 11am or 1pm, wait is over 30minutes. Called Friday and Monday at those times, I waited 30 minutes or more  lol

Hii, I called them today and spoke to a representative who said that there are no biometric waivers for EAD except for special cases like court ordered mandates etc. I explained that a few others have had their biometrics waived and she was like I'm sure they must be special cases. I didnt want to argue any further so I said thank you and hung up. 😶

I plan on calling again on Monday.

We'll find out once the people got approved without biometrics receive their cards.

Some here got i485 approved without interview so i do believe that these are legit approvals. We just don't and won't know the logistics of it.

Bit of a twist in my biometrics appointment next week. The lawyers just contacted me and informed that there have been multiple instances where USCIS erroneously set the biometrics appointment in San Francisco instead of the ASC in the applicant’s jurisdiction.

They are now advising that I show up on the same day and time, but go to the Salt Lake City ASC instead of the San Fran one.

so confusing 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ Is there any way that I can check and confirm that I’m not making a mistake by going to the wrong place?

Best way is to call uscis. If no definite answer from them, follow what your lawyer advised.

I wish I'd have known. I applied for it with the AOS. Is it too late to do it at this stage or can you get it taken care of still?

At what stage are you at on your I-765? If already approved or card being produced, your ssn follows since you ticked the ssn field in that application. If you are still waiting, no harm to go to ssa and request for one. Once you have it and they approved your I-765, ssa will be able to see it and won't create another one.

Yap, check if they are open.

@wingman23 very smart! I wish I would've applied for my husband's SSN after he arrived in Jan 2020. I thought USCIS would be faster with delivering it than the SSA office when we applied for the EAD back in Feb, before Covid shut down the world completely! I wish I knew then what I know now. Congrats again!

my wife is the one who researched it all for me. all i have to do is to follow through with the application but processes and steps wise, she did all the work. lol

but then again, could not use the ssn without authorization so no work for me for 6 months now. boohoo!

Sorry if I am asking so many questions. How did you get the SSN without the other these other things approved?  Is that a separate application?  We were thinking the SSN was part of this whole processs.  Yikes!

i applied for ssn separately, a few days after arrival, around first week of feb. then DL, then AOS (sent feb 18). however, my k2 is not allowed for SSN yet so we applied for his as part of the AOS process. either way can be done. i could not work anyway since i am not yet authorized to work even with ssn on-hand until today. LOL

Nothing for me either. My husband called USCIS application support center earlier but it seems like they won't give us any further notice yet. They said the office near me should be opening soon, so hopefully we'll here from them soon...

I have been trying to get driver's license but apparently DMV needs i-797 (not i-797C) to give me an approval for the license (Even though USCIS support center told us i-797C can be approval too). So I guess I have to wait 😕

When we requested for FL DL, they only needed our passports, visas, and our foriegn DLs. This is in Jacksonville, FL. Me and my K2 have 1yr US licenses.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth as they say! When we got our interview wavier back in April I racked my brain trying to figure out how I rated to get it!!! Until this day I could not figure out the criteria as to why some of us got approved without an interview so I stopped trying to figure it out.  Just very fortunate is all, I can see  we share local offices (Dallas), but that's not it because many other couples that got the wavier came from all over the states. Anyway congrats and enjoy. Don't slack off on the ROC better be saving all kinds of materiel as I am sure we will get an interview come time for the ROC!!!!!

Probably u r in the military and have some security clearance under your belt?

Does anyone know if my husband can use his foreign drivers license as proof of ID for the biometrics?

I bet he can since it's listed as one of the proofs. First thing they asked for were our passports though then the letter.

Our foreign DLs were cut after we applied for FL DL before our first month here in Jax.

I called today too, but no luck to speak with officer:(. I had a hope that my child's case is automatically approved with mine but no... 😢😢. Please, let me know if you have a call back.

the first rep told me there's no need to speak to tier 2 but when i informed her that we need to work since funds are now depleting, she agreed to have a call setup.

    will let u know.
