  1. I used a lawyer for the initial GC application, and used the same one for submitting my removal of conditions. I’m a super anxious person and my SO isn’t great with paperwork, so having someone to look over everything, tell us what is needed and take care of the mailing is so helpful for me. Using the same lawyer also meant that she knew our case, and was able to add the new evidence we provided to our original folder of supporting evidence.

the cost for this was much less too as it’s less work for the lawyer. I believe ours charged around $3000 for the GC app versus $900 for this.

Nooo I'm so sorry to hear! I bet you'll certainly get an August interview though. From what I've seen people will most likely be notified the week of the 8th, 15th or 22nd  of July so I've decided to stop obsessively checking my emails till then. The last person I saw with an Auckland interview waited from 5th March CC till 22nd May for the interview date, prior to that it was only taking around a month to have a date issued. I don't get what the hold up is, I really thought being from NZ would end up giving me an advantage :( At the very least it will all be over soon

I really hope we hear something soon. I can't seem to go an hour without checking my emails at the moment, even though I know its unlikely to hear anything at this time of the month. My lawyer thought it would only be a 2 week wait for an interview date based on previous applicants so I've no clue what the hold up is. I've called the NVC a few times and they've said its the consulate, consulate told my lawyer its the NVC meanwhile I'm stuck here in NZ alone as my husband had to go back to the states and Im originally from the UK.

This whole process is a real test of patience.

  3. Waiting for 5 weeks for the interview date as of today. Would feel better about it if there was any way of asking how much longer I will have to wait but thats obviously impossible. Meanwhile a friend of mine who applied for a tourist visa at the same embassy only had to wait 2 weeks for an interview appointment. How is it fair?

Honestly you just have to pray and stay patient , and make sure to talk to your support system . I would be honest and say I felt some sort of exceptional and entitlement due to being in ir1 Visa class and applying low ago ( over one year ago ) however I am still waiting as well . I know it’s frustrating but once this is over you’ll never have to go through this process again

Thank you so much for your kind response. That is so true, I will keep my eye on the fact that this is the last time we will be forced to spend so long apart. Once it is done, it is done.

For now, I will just be patient.

  5. First of all congratulations to everyone receiving interview dates!

But I am freaking out now that I see others with CC after mine getting interviews and I'm still waiting for mine (CR1 in New Zealand). Anyone have any tips on how to not freak out completely? I feel like I might go insane, the NVC stage seems to have taken so long for me- we started submitting in February, they asked for more and we last sent docs around 29th March, didn't get CC until 16th May.

I wouldn't be so upset but my husband has returned to the US as his visa for New Zealand expired and I'm not from NZ originally but the UK so I don't have anyone here with me. Anyway please excuse my ranting and slow decent into madness.

It can be at any time. However it’s typically in the morning before noon eastern time (New York) USA

Ah okay, thats sometime in the middle of the night for me, so I suppose I can stop obsessively looking at my phone at all hours of the day.

Same here.. I have turned off all e-mail notifications because I was jumping up every time I received an e-mail, and dissapointed every time because it was not from the NVC.. 😊

So now my inbox is very quiet and completely ready to receive an interview date! I want my life back! 😄

I'm glad to hear that its not just me! We will get some good news soon I'm sure :3

  7. Hi there,

I'm not sure if this is the right place. Our entire process with the NVC has been so slow. We submitted additional docs to them on 30th March, and didn't hear anything until 16th May when i was finally told we were 'Documentarily Qualified', is this the same as case complete? We have heard nothing from them since and even the immigration lawyer we are working with seems to think that this is unusual.

Getting very anxious that something will go very wrong and I will be stuck here in New Zealand alone forever (I'm from the UK originally and have no family over here)
