I am confused on the instructions if I can file I-864EZ or I-864?

Try the bottom of this wiki for a list of evidence to send

If she is currently unemployed then put down "unemployed" and put her last employment in the appropriate place. Make sure the forms are current the day you send them.

If not then dont worry. We just sent ours without certified and it was fine.
P.S : make color copies of all your documents to send to USCIS... that's better

Note: Evidence of a Bonifide Marriage
The USCIS now requires that when filing an I-130 for a spouse that you include evidence of a bonifide marriage. They list examples of acceptable evidence as: 1. Documentation showing joint ownership or property; or 2. A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence; or 3. Documentation showing co-mingling of financialresources; or 4. Birth certificate(s) of child(ren) born to you, thepetitioner, and your spouse together; or 5. Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties havingpersonal knowledge of the bona fides of the maritalrelationship (Each affidavit must contain the full nameand address, date and place of birth of the person makingthe affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner ofbeneficiary, if any, and complete information and detailsexplaining how the person acquired his or herknowledge of your marriage); or 6. If a joint sponsor plans to use assets only, those assets must amount to 5x the difference of the figure for the joint sponsor's applicable household size. Furthermore, if the liquidation of an asset within one year would be considered an undue hardship to the holder, then it will be disallowed. This is applied at the CO's discretion.
If shared assets are going to be used, then joint sponsor's spouse would need to complete an I-864A documenting said assets.

    Hello,
I am going to use a joint sponsor for the Affidavit of Support. She is married, and is going to be using assets rather than income. Some of the assets are only hers, and others are shared with her spouse. Is she able to use the shared assets, or only the ones she owns 100%?
    Thanks for your help.

I am an US Citizen and my husband is Colombian. We married in Colombia. Three weeks after we married, I filed the I-130. At the time, we were not living together or with a shared bank account (we lived in different countries). My question is whether or not I can send that additional information now that we do have these shared documents (since I've read that it is helpful)? Also, I will be changing my name next week and will need to send documentation/copy of new passport, etc.
Can I send additional information before they ask, and how do I go about doing so?
    Thank you!

    Hello Everyone,
Today is my first day here.. I have a question OK ? My fiancee has a 10 year tourist visa because she spent 20 years in the Colombian Military so it was easy for her to get.. after we marry in November.. she can come to the USA to be with me for up to 6 months at a time.. Would someone recommend a time that is best after I file the I-130 for her ? I mean it takes about a year from what I have read here.. so when is a good time in the process for her to be with me? I know she has to be back for the medical and interview in Bogota... how much notice do they usually give in advance so I can get her back in time? Also since we are not abusing the system and marrying here when she is on the tourist visa we are marrying in Colombia so I do not see us breaking any Immigration rules.. She has had this Visa for a year now and has not used it yet..So is this plan OK that we have ?

    Hell All,
I just paid my AOS Fee, but I will not be sending my AOS paperwork out for about two months, will this cause any problems? The reason I am waiting is because I am currently in Colombia and I will be moving back to the United States to start working in October and I want to wait until then to send out the AOS papers for obvious reasons. Will this cause any problems? How much time after you pay the AOS fee do you have to send the I-864?

DLESPITIA reacted to Abby&Mario in DS 260, what in the ever loving hell?
We've sent our AOS package to NVC and have the IV one ready to go. So today I went to take a closer look at what we're going to have to do in the coming weeks/months.
It looks like the DS 260 form is going to require every single address where the intended immigrant has lived since age 16. I can't for the life of me fathom why this information is important or necessary. He had seven addresses just for the past five years on the G325A. Was that not enough information already? At 16 he moved to Medellín for college and moved around a lot. He worked there until age 28, when he got a job that took him to Perú for two months and then Argentina for five years, where he also moved around a ton. Then he moved back to Colombia. Now we are back in Argentina. Ack! Many of these places were furnished rooms or apartments with all services included that were rented for a period of a few months, the addresses long since forgotten, places his name was never associated with in any official capacity (no bills, no rental contract, etc.) I know we'll be able to click "add another" on the form, but even if we could recover every single address where he laid his head on a pillow at night for a few months, I'm sure it would add up to at least 20, if not more.
I know we can't leave gaps in time on the form. We certainly don't intend to lie. But I am wondering what the hell people do for this section of the form. What about people who live in rural areas with no address? Or like, nomadic tribespeople? What about people who move a ####### ton, or have jobs that require frequent extended travel that makes maintaining any long-term residence impossible, like my husband? We are stressed about this. I told him to dig up every address he possibly can, and that we'll go from there. He's always used his parents' address for his permanent address. Could we somehow use that to our advantage?
Please help! I wanted to ask here before calling NVC...

    Guys,

I finally received my "NVC Welcome letter" and i want to ensure i understand  the  steps to follow the  procedure.
    - D-261 filled online, waited 3 weeks and then Payed the fee ( $120  ) for AOS. this is  where i have question.
    - the i-864 is to be sent over mail with the the following check list ?

When i login to my case. this is what i see

Do i start the "visa application"? also there is a fee for that, but shows $0 - When do i pay that?

and lastly. everything in the checklist is required ( even military record ?)

I completely agree with @Jorgedig and @payxibka.   When the time comes, you might want to consider my simple analysis:
Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.
    K-1
Slightly faster arrival in the US (currently about 5 months sooner)
        More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 5-6 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 5-6 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.

    CR-1
Slightly slower arrival in the US (currently about 5 months later)
        Less expensive than K-1
        No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

Hello i am new here. I got married to my spouse that lives in Pakistan. I am an American Citizen. I was working on her i130a which asks for her parent information. Everything was all good until i was informed that the my mother in law has an error on her id card. Her CNIC has a completely wrong last name. Her last name isn't from her father or her husband. I was wondering is this an issue for me or is it OK if i continue the application with what is written on her id. If any other Pakistanis have any experience with this issue please let me know. Thank you and have a good day.
