  1. Just submitted the N-400 online on 10/03/2023.

After we submitted, like 15 mins later we received the NOA and the letter of Biometrics reuse. It was fast.

That day I saw an estimated wait time of 15 months, today I got a notification there was a change in the file. It now says 8 months.

We most likely will have to have a combo interview since my husband has not had his interview for the I-751 yet.

Just need to prep hubby on the civics test information

Just got a biometrics waived notification on myUSCIS. Looks like they reused the one I had for AOS.

Packet was sent 10/5 and got delivered on 10/6 to Elgin lockbox. NOA was dated 10/10 (received a few days later). Vermont Service Center (EAC).

I guess thats it for the next months.

We have a similar time timeline and the same service center.  I saw your post and it prompted me to check myUSCIS to see about the biometrics and low and behold the biometrics was waived. I was happy to see that. I’m hoping to get a notification in about 12 to 18 months that says “Your card is being produced”- no interview..

Offices are not closed. They were doing stuff by mail until a couple months ago, but now with the new SSA emergency message, they must give an appointment to immigrants because we can't mail our stuff. Update citizenship is considered a valid reason for an appointment. When you call, ask for an appointment and mention their own regulation.

If the the first person that answers the call says otherwise, ask for a supervisor until you're able to get an appointment.

Yes, my husband had to call and the appointment was scheduled like within a week. He had all the necessary documents and filled out the forms( the SSA rep told us all that was needed) and the appointment took 10-15 mins. And within 2 weeks new SS card.

What should the letters of Affidavits look like for the two individuals who attest my marriage is legitimate? Just a formal letter stating what they've witnessed between us? Do they need to be notarized or anything?

    Thank you!

Instead of two affidavits that could be written and notarized by someone who may or may not know anything about your marriage, you should send in other stronger evidence ie bank statements with both you and your spouses names on it, utility bills with one or both of your names in it, life insurance with your spouse named as the beneficiary, proof you both live at the same address etc.

There are a ton on evidence you can use to show a bonafide marriage other than an affidavit from random people saying you have a legitimate marriage.

I am a new citizen, new i-9 requirements state certificate of naturalization is no longer valid evidence of employment authorization.

My certificate of naturalization is with the passport office anyway who are saying 18 weeks (from June) until I get my passport.

I had a green card stamp which was due to expire in Aug 22 2021. Per i-9 regulations, employers are supposed to re check these.

My social security card says "valid with dhs work authorization only" so I cant use social and drivers license.

I have a new job offer and my old work is asking for proof of employment. Question: is there a way around this? I feel like I'm screwed.

Why don’t you make an appointment with SSA and have the notation on your social security card removed? Then you can use the SS card and DL for the I-9 information for your new job.

My husband had that notation removed from his SS card as soon as he received his green card. It took about 2 weeks for him to receive his new SS card.

  6. The instructions only require to tell when you met in person. However my now husband is from a high fraud country so while I didn’t include unnecessary information I did included some information on how we were introduced, when we met in person and length we dated. I also had proofs of theses events ( WhatsApp screenshots, flight itinerary, hotel receipts and pics)

As for the TOS for Jwmatch, I don’t  think it will hurt to included them, but I am sure USCIS have come across this website before.

     Wishing you the best

My wife and I will attend the interview together, correct?

    Congrats!!

Yes you have to attend the interview together.

Hopefully the holiday mail doesn’t slow down your interview letter. Usually the interview is about 6 weeks or so after the date the interview scheduled. Our interview was schedule like 5 weeks later. Be on the look out for the letter.

Start getting you documents ready to bring to the interview and Congrats again!

Totally can relate to your feelings. I’m sure it will be fine. Did you get a verbal confirmation or a que from your officer? If yes, and it has been more than 5 business days go ahead and call.

It took 4 business days for in our case for status to be updated online though we got verbal confirmation the officer that he will be approving the case.

As for being penalized, I don’t think it will be ever that drastic, just make sure that there has been some reasonable time before calling. Maybe first call the USCIS general line? And try getting a tier 2 officer , before going the Field office route.

you can also book an info pass appointment to meet with someone in your field office, in the worst case (probably less than 5% cases) , if it gets delayed for more than 2-3 weeks

I know background checks have to be done  but I can’t imagine them taking this long..

I will take your advice and wait a few weeks and give a ring.

I am hoping I don’t have to call, but if I do what do I say? I’m just checking on my status of my AOS interview?

I keep hoping to see the USPS informed delivery with a pic of a envelope with the GC in it..

Any October filers still waiting for the interview to be scheduled?

My status is "ready to be scheduled" since January and it's really frustrating ...

Hubby and I are still waiting. It is frustrating but we have been just collecting our documents and cheering on those who have has their interview and have gotten their GC. Our time will come and yours will too. We are just hoping we have a nice CO who is in a good mood. 😁

  10. My husband filed for his EAD and AP separately. However the EAD and AP arrived about 3 weeks apart(no combo card). Due to COVID related USCIS closings and backlog, it looks like we won't have our AOS interview anytime soon. He will need to renew both the EAD and AP. We want to know:

    1. When should he start to file for his EAD and AP? 180 days or 90 days before they both expire ?

    2. Is it possible for him to file for both the EAD and AP at the same time and receive a combo card?

  11. Hi All

    Just an update:

I got a rejection notice for my I-131. I made a foolish mistake and sent an outdated version on the form.

I had the updated version but printed the wrong one and sent it in (DUH).

Like @Nafisa Zaripova my rejection notice said something about the incorrect fee but they cashed my check for $1,225.

I printed out the correct form and sent in the same documentation as I did previously. But I added a sentence in my cover letter stating I did not owe an addition fees because I paid the fess for the I-485. And I included the NOA1 for the I-485.

I sent my I-131 again today. I am hoping to get a receipt number for my I-131 form soon.

  12. Hi All

    Just a question or two

Early this AM(around 12:30am ish) I received 3 text messages from USCIS saying they received my case.

However the first two texts had different receipt #s but the third text gave the same receipt #s as the first two. So I only really received two receipt numbers but I sent off for AOS, EAD and AP. I haven't received the hard copy of the receipts just yet.

I know you can email the lockbox support to ensure they received the package I sent, but will they tell me if they received the AOS, EAD and AP?

Also should I contact USCIS about receiving the third receipt #?

Hi everyone, I’m new here so I’m not sure how it works. I just scheduled my appointment but I noticed that the appointment confirmation page has no ds 160 confirmation number only the UID number. Is this normal? Thanks

It seems your DS160 number is not linked to your appointment confirmation. According to the consulate, "You are to ensure that the DS-160 confirmation number on the DS-160 confirmation page matches with the DS-160 number on the appointment confirmation letters. Any changes to the profiles must be made at least 3 working days prior to the scheduled appointment day. It is important that the most recent DS-160 confirmation code matches the DS-160 code on the appointment letter on the day of your appointment. You will be turned back at the Consulate/Embassy if their DS-160 numbers do not match."

Just send an email to the support@ustraveldocs.com giving your name, DOB, and passport number and telling them you want to update your profile with your DS-160 confirmation number.

I did that and I was sent another confirmation with both the DS-160 confirmation number on it and the UID number.
