I just want to keep you posted, I passed the interview and now wait for Oath ceremony's schedule!

The IO didn't ask anything about my Ex but when I got my Green card, before or after divorced which I got it after divorced.

She didn't even ask for any support documents state on the letter.

    Thank you all again!

Awesome, congratulations and thank you for sharing the update 🎉

I got welcome letter from NVC f21 . When I check my status i found my wife and one child only, although  i applied for 3 child( under 21) in i-130 , when i asked the lawyer he said add the other 2 child, now I am waiting for 2 weeks and still under review, my question is what should I do? Wait or, send e mail to nvc or continue procedure for my wife and one son until other children added?

For F2a category you can add the derivatives as you did. The visa bulletin is current so that’s also no concern at this point.

administrative tasks have been taking longer at NVC lately, I saw up to two weeks only to add joint sponsors. Proceed uploading documents for the other applicants and if nothing happens after another week or two call NVC and ask. They’ve been saying up to 6 weeks for administrative tasks recently.

Thank you for your reply it is much appreciated I needed someone to tell me I am not alone in this, I am currently thinking about having my wife go to turkey and get a resident card and then transfer the case because i made a decision if by the end of the year nothing happens i will move with my wife to turkey to live there while we are waiting for the interview because tbh we are in a tough situation and we can’t be apart any longer

    again thanks for the reply.

No worries and you are not alone in this. Feel free to join my fb group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/332749100243009/

It’s a general group for immigration questions that I’m running with 5 other admins but we have one pinned post with approx 50 Iraqis waiting for interview. I’m checking with a law firm if there’s a violation of the INA that would reasonate a lawsuit but it takes long with FOIA requests etc to even get to the bottom of what the DOS is doing…

So this is something that is happening to Iraqis who have been transferred, this is so sad and unfair.

do you think sending a photo from this site to NVC will actually do something for me, they always answer in a generic manner.

do you know if i request to transfer my case to turkey I would have a better chance? And will I lose my spot in the line if I do that?

It is unfair. Sadly Iraqis and Iranis have to deal with it currently :(

We went through Amman (transferred from Abu Dhabi) - horrible embassy, I don’t recommend it. In my personal ranking probably the second worse consular section currently right after Cairo.

I don’t think screenshots from a forum will do anything for you. Do you have the visit visa that you can travel to UAE if they schedule you? That will be your best supporting document.

Ankara currently only interviews residents of Turkey. Some Iraqis temporarily move to Turkey, acquire residency there, and then email the residence card to the embassy and NVC to request a transfer. A transfer while residing in Iraq won’t help you at all, unfortunately: https://tr.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/

there have been cases where NVC issued a new DQ letter after transfer, however these are too rare to know if this actually does anything to the spot in line. Since Iraqis are skipped based on DQ date anyways I imagine it doesn’t have any impact but I have no data to back that up.

  5. I know of some folks that have May 2020 DQ and are still waiting for IL in Abu Dhabi. While UAE residents with DQ in 2021 have gotten IL. It appears that NVC still schedules only UAE residents for interview. It’s tough for Iraqis to get a visit visa to UAE at the moment so if you have that, send a photo to NVC via public inquiry form and ask to be scheduled since your DQ is much older than the current DQ in line with NVC.

    Hi Quarknase!!

Could you or anyone give me some advise please?

I filed under 3 year rule as VAWA recipient as well. I have an interview on 06/01/21.

The interview required me to bring the originals of

    - Marriage certificate

    - Proof of death or divorce for each prior marriage of myself and spouse

    - My spouse's birth or naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship

I had a really hard time to go through with what caused me and my son from my USC ex-husband. It involved with polices, social workers, court order/court sentence and hospital because of the injure he did.

I didn't expected that they are going to ask about my ex or how did I get VAWA since I have sent all the reports to support my VAWA but due to the documents they required for an interview,

it makes me feel like I still have to deal with my ex which I cannot do it.

I have a marriage certificate and proof of divorce with him (first time marry for both of us) and his expired US passport. I hope the passport works because I'm not be able to contact him.

I'm nervous and panic already just thinking of I have to talk about or deal with him.

Did they require you these documents also?

Did the IO ask you about how do you get VAWA or anything about your ex?

Do I need an attorney for the interview?

    Thanks in advance!

    Those three documents are fine.

Since you filed under 3 year rule, you also need to prepare proof of bonafide relationship - filing under 3 year rule with VAWA waives the requirement to still live with the abuser, but the IO can ask you for relationship proof (from before you left the abuser).
Pretty much the same as for everyone else applying under 3 year rule applies to you as well, except you don’t have to live with them anymore.

I personally wasn’t asked anything during the  interview (except the IO confirmed that I filed under VAWA). But they can ask, so you should bring as much proof as you can gather and if they ask then just be honest and explain why you don’t have anything else. They know of VAWA circumstances.

I don’t think that you need an attorney, but do whatever makes you feel comfortable!

Any more interviews for Mount Laurel or Newark. Saw quite a few July 2020 filers got NYC interviews for late May. Been very quite in NJ.

Newark is poppin, actually. There’s a Facebook group with N-400 filers (I think I linked it some pages back) and many are getting interviews. I was there on 4/20 and there were approx 30 people for Oath every 2-2.5 hrs I would say

Congrats! I updated the sheet for you. :)

What questions did they ask you for the civics test?

Thank you! I still adore your user name so much, even though I’m more the Käsebrot type 😄

    History and government test:
    Name one US territory
What Ocean is on the west coast of the United States
Who was President during Great Depression and WWII
We elect a Senator for how many years?
What is the Capitol of the United States?
Who is the Vice President now?

    Reading: Who was George Washington
Writing: Washington was the first President

After that the IO went over my application and confirmed all info/asked me the yes/no questions.

I filed under 3 year rule as VAWA recipient.
    The interview was very pleasant.

Hi, did they do anything with the I-551 stamp? Like cancel it with a stamp "canceled without prejudice"? I'd be travelling after my oath and can't wait for the passport to arrive in the 6-12 weeks they advertise. Thanks

Your I-551 stamp will lose its validity at the date of the oath, just like a greencard. During oath you become a USC and an LPR document is no longer valid to enter the US. You’ll need to wait for the US passport. If you cannot postpone travel, you may want to consider rescheduling the oath for after travel.

    Hey Guys,

    March 14th Filer here.

Good News: got the letter and notification for interview today. Its scheduled for May 6th.

Question: Its is scheduled in Mt Laurel instead of Newark office. Newark office is much much closer than Mt Laurel and a family member, who lives with me (so same address as mine)  just got his interview done at Newark for n400.

Should i be concerned or its normal practice?

They go by zip code, not distance. You can check online on USCIS website which field office has your zip code.

edit - reading helps. Maybe they shifted your case to speed up processing. My Laurel is not as busy as Newark.

I am very HAPPY to report to our "Newark filing location" group that TODAY I received a notification in my online account that I am being scheduled for an interview!!! I'm expecting a formal letter in "document section" within 24-72 hrs, and of course will share the interview date.

As a reminder (and as per my Timeline) I filed on 3/26/2020 with NOA date 3/31/2020.

Case history updated to: March 29,2021 Interview Was Scheduled.

SIDE NOTE: my estimated case completion date was "updated" to Dec 2021 (9 months) - (of course, this is not reliable, just FYI).

Congratulations! If they are consistent with the “heads up”, your interview shall be in the week of May 10.

    Applied January 2020.

    Biometrics Feb 2020

Today it shows "Interview scheduled, we will mail you an interview notice"- shows no letter or date.

Estimated case completion time: 12 months (March 2022)...😳

5 year rule, California service center. I wonder how can this be.

It’s obviously computer generated and not accurate. Which is your field office?

oes the interview notice get only snail mailed, or should I expect it as a PDF in my online account too?

It will be in your account under documents 24-48 hrs after scheduling.

You should not be so pessimistic... I have an extensive list of travel over the past 5 years, but everything is well documented... I kept a file in Excel with all my travel since I became a LPR, with a special tab that is the output ready-to-be-printed for the interview. 😃

    See below/attached.

Hehe yes I have a similar setup, just that the trips were longer.

I’m not too worried about it, more trying to be realistic.

The interview notice just got posted in the Documents section: it will be on Thursday April 29 at 10:30am.

Hopefully it will be same day Oath too!!!!

Congratulations! Yes, with an interview at this time you should get same day oath.

I personally don’t anticipate same-day approval. My file with USCIS is extensive, and so is my travel history. It was extensive before I filed, and I’ll have to add 3 trips, 3 continents, 8 countries to the list during interview so I’m almost certain that they’ll want to review some more 😑😩
