That isn't the exact process.  You don't marry during a visit.  In fact, it is visa fraud to enter the US as a visitor with the intent to apply for a Green card.  However, you can visit during the fiance visa process and the spousal visa process.

You could, however, marry during a visit, then start the CR-1 process for a spousal visa...but you would have to return to home country.

Never heard of that.  Don't drive yourself crazy with the "What if.." game.

I always answered according to what the status was, so this went from “visiting boyfriend” to “visiting fiancé” to “visiting husband”.

The letter will not really mean anything, and won’t guarantee that she’s not going to overstay or adjust status, so I see no benefit in that.

I would for sure do a shorter trip, being able to be away from your life for months at a time does not scream strong ties.

It is permitted, but if she’ll be admitted by CBP is another matter and will depend greatly on how strong her ties to Indonesia are. Don’t have her visit for the max amount of time because that doesn’t show great ties. Does she have a stable job and life in Indonesia?

I was able to visit the US while my I-130 was processing but had short visits of up to 2/3 weeks every 3 to 4 months and that travel pattern never caused any issues. I had a stable job and life in the Netherlands.

So happy that the whole RFE situation turned out to be nothing. Still no sign that they ever received my response, but I guess that it didn’t matter after all.

But with my immigration journey so far (waiting 120 days for my greencard, receiving card with wrong name, waiting 9 months for I-90 to get approved, I-751 taking this long) I won’t relax until I actually have my 10 year green card in hand 😅 It has been a Murphy’s Law type of journey so far!
    Thank you!!!

Daphne . got a reaction from Dante2019 in 220 U.S dollars for a green card?
Yes, the $220 immigrant fee is part of it and you need to pay it in order to get the green card. The instructions came when I received my passport back with the visa in it, that letter explained what it was for and how to pay it.

I sure hope that they are not going to to pull the same stunts as they have been doing in 2023 and forget about people who filed ages ago. This is just so wrong and I wonder if it will encourage people to just enter on a tourist visa with the intent to adjust status.

USCIS is just making a fool out of local Embassies and CBP who do their best to prevent/screen for potential abuse of a tourist visas by granting green cards in lightning speed..
