    Thanks for the suggestions.

Would you recommend marrying her in a different country?

I read a couple times that the US wont recognize that marriage so it really doesn't help, is that true?

That isn't true. Let me talk to my dad and his wife tonight so that I can give you more info.

Basically if you have a legal legitimate marriage it is accepted by America. I don't know about corruption in the Philippines but my husband, who is in the immigration process right now, is from Nigeria. And Nigeria had actual courts conducting marriages that they had no authority to do. So all those marriages were made invalid by the Nigerian government. So based on the Nigerian government invalidating them now the US won't accept them. Fortunately for us we choose the right court to get married at. I think it was city or state that was performing illegal marriages to make money.

Other than nonsense like that, you won't have any problems getting married abroad.

Hi my dad was in the same situation about 12 years ago. So your child will have dual citizenship. But will still need a visa when they do come to the states (which is stupid in my opinion but nevertheless required). My dad had to get one when his newborn was a baby. Which slightly delayed them since he wasn't expecting that.

As far as income, get a joint sponsor here in the states that meets the income requirements so that you won't have to delay thier immigration.

One difference is my dad married her before the baby was conceived. But he still did the K3 visa application as it was faster.

Any other questions i can ask my dad and his wife.

Forgot to say my father also married a Phillipina... Same country as you and your gf

Thank you @nastra30 for the detailed reply, and also @CJO032418 for the direct message.

After I saw your replies, I realized we did check that option for getting the SSN on the form, so hopefully we should get it soon.

For our canada trip, we'll be driving into Canada, so I'll check with the canadian embassy.

Thank you again for your help.

You're welcome. Check with USCIS too. You don't want any issues returning to America.

well. i got snarky with an agent. yes I called again to ask information about my case. I mean after all, this is what they are supposed to be giving us. information. So i called them to ask about the interview dates for my embassy, he gave me the same line about not being able to tell me anything that i just have to wait. so i asked him straight. " why do you have a customer service line to ask questions about our cases and yet you refuse to give us any information about the cases you claim you give service for?" AND he HUNG UP ON ME!! wonder if I struck a core! Jeez and to think we are actually PAYING for this 😕 SMH

♥️ I love your directness. We should all write down the name of the person we talk to at the NVC. And if you have someone rudely and unprofessionally hanging up on you or some other disrespectful behavior you write to the Department of State and Congress and Senate with dates, names, and summary of the issues.

When government isnt held accountable it goes unchecked and becomes a danger to everyone in some way or the other

With expedites we set our own interview appointments.  Normally NVC does that.  There were a bunch of anomalies that happened but to make a long story short, we were DQ'd on May 1 but they didn't send the petitions to Manila until May 24 and June 2.  They scheduled the interviews then realized they were expedited so cancelled the interviews.  Now I'm trying to schedule them and there are no available slots.  The calendar is supposed to come back online in July.  So the system error that held us for a month may have also delayed our interview for 2 months.

I was venting.  We just had a whole bunch of weird things happen where our expedite for school was approved but we won't interview until they are already in their 3rd month of school there so we are now deciding whether to let them finish and do the interview sometime next year since school has started and they won't be in the states before school starts here.

The expedite probably works for everyone else but we had interview dates scheduled and cancelled and now we have a few months before we know if we can get a slot.  If we didn't expedite we would be interviewing on July 12.  As it stands, we have no way of knowing when we will interview.

I'm sorry you and your family are having all these complications. Thank you for sharing your experience with me.

This is what we used...beware.  Our expedite actually slowed us down...

    Dear Sir or Madame,

I am requesting an expedite for my CR-1 visa petitions.  My step son and step daughter (information below) both attend private school in Manila.  Payment of tuition is due in May and must be paid in full to enroll them.  With the timing of these petitions we are afraid that we will need to pay for the full year tuition for both XXXX and XXXX and we do not know how long they will actually need to be enrolled.  We have talked to the school and they will require full payment in May for school that starts in June in Manila.

We are hoping this works out where we can interview before the payment is due as that would allow me to be there at the interview with them.  School in Chicago starts in August so we are also concerned with having them registered and in class on the first day.

Our petitions were approved at USCIS on XX/XX/XXXX.  They were forwarded to NVC on XX/XX/XXXX.

May I ask in what way did it slow things down?

So my beneficiary's interview is in a few weeks :)

I'm putting together the papers to bring to the interview.  And I'm using this checklist: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Supplemental/appt letter_checklist for interview.pdf

However, I don't see anything about any of the old I-130 and USCIS stuff from last year

And I remember when i sent these things last year, some people on here were telling me to make photocopies of everything I send USCIS, because my Beneficiary will need to bring them with her to her Visa Interview.   So umm...were those people who told me that just wrong or what?

They were right. The NVC and USCIS will not forward the evidence you submitted in your USCIS package to the embassy. Some people have said they may ask questions from those forms. Who knows. Better safe than sorry. Although the 260 had a lot of the same questions. So if you dont have copies of the i130 then take the complete 260.
