I am so confused about the orientation of passport page and photos. Some say thery got rejected because of uploading horizontally and someone said vertically.

Can I know how did you upload yours?

Just make sure your documents are not upside down or sideways.

They should be be positioned in the same way you would hold them if you were reading them or looking at them in your hands.

Congratulations!! and thank you for this.. very helpful :)  also wondering if you also tell us what all documents you shared with NVC.. just want to be double sure about everything  😛

    Hi

we are going through Nigeria. The NVC requires certain documents and your country may require additional documents. Go to the Dept of State website to find out.

    After you pay the fees:

    1.  Police report(s) (for country you now reside in must not be oldest than 3 months; for countries you use to reside in no expiration)...read the requirements online.

    2.  Passport data page

    3.  Tax Form 1040 or the Tax Transcript

    4.  Passport pictures (current)

    5.  Tax return related documents (W2, worksheets, etc.)

    6.  Form 260 (complete online on CEAC)

    7.  AOS (Form 864) ... read online to determine which version of the 864 to complete

    8.  Paystubs and other proof of finances ... read the requirements online

    9.   National ID

    10.  Birth certificate

    11.  Marriage certificate

go to travel.state.gov and click on The Immigrant Visa Process and read EVERY step throughly

    and

click on US Visa Reciprocity and Civil Documents by Country. Find your country to see what else you need to submit. Read this throughly also

Hi, me too!!! Let’s keep each other posted!!! Good Luck 🍀!!!!

NVC says up to three weeks assuming none of your documents are rejected. For me it took them 8 days the first time. They rejected 3 documents with an unclear explanation. Took 12 days for them to review the second time and they rejected two documents with NO explanation given. After 80 attempts of trying to get them on the phone, finally after being on hold for 1 hour someone answered and she couldn’t initially figure out why they were rejected. Took her 5 minutes. Imagine if the NVC’s own employees can’t understand the notifications and instructions how do they expect the public. Just resubmitted today.

    Anyway lessons learned:

    1. Make sure all documents are the right side up (mine was vertical but should have been oriented horizontally).

    2. Double check when submitting police reports if your country requires fingerprints to be included.

    3. For taxes ONLY submit the 1040 in the Tax section. Any other documents related to your return (i.e., form 8886, tax worksheets, W2, etc) submit separately in the other documents section.

    4. Absolutely call the NVC IMMEDIATELY if any document is rejected no matter what the explanation says on CEAC. Tell them a document was rejected and you want them to tell you why. (Because the notification on CEAC is extremely unclear or non existent.)

Save yourself the trouble of multiple rejections and weeks of endless delays.

Lastly, all Americans on this forum need to write your Congress and Senate person and tell them the Dept of State NVC processes and operations need to be investigated by the IG. This is our tax dollars at work...I mean NOT at work. Wasted and misused.

There are websites where you can compress your PDFs! https://pdfcompressor.com/

Thank you very much for this link. You can also right click on the document and go to properties then advanced and then click compress. Worked for all my docs but one. The website was very easy although for security reasons not preferred.

I am still waiting for police clearance certificate for my beneficiary, but I have submitted everything else from my side and from beneficiary side on march 11th, today is march 18th and its keep showing as submitted. not sure if they are not going to look other documents till I submit Police clearance certificate.

Any thoughts from anyone has the same issue.

    Thanks

I called. They say it can take up to 3 weeks to review documents. However from the instructions on the website it appears that if anything is missing they will not approve your case   Instead you will get a notice to submit whatever is missing. Then it will take some more weeks for them to review your case again. Best to submit it ASAP.

    Hey everyone

I filed for my husband on February 26 and just received the i797C. Just wanted to find out what comes next and how long is the wait. We are also filing for the k3 hoping to speed up the process. Has anyone done this?

Yes but the 130 was approved before the k3.  It took from May 30, 2018 to Dec 6, 2018 for USCIS to approve the 130. But if I were you I’d still do the k3. It doesn’t cost anything and the form isn’t complicated and it might speed things up for you. Everyone’s case is different

I tried tens of time to add my 13 addresses (!)  where I lived starting  from the age of 16,  as per request on page 2 personal information address, but after writing and writing when I try to save it goes on an error page, really I don't know how to make it work (I tried different PCs and browsers). Can anybody give me an advice?

Hi. I had this happen to me on 3 different parts of the application. The problem was I was not doing it fast enough. So the website timed out (you get no warning; you only find out once you try to save or save and continue). So I had to type it all in much faster.

What I recommend since you have so many is that after each address save the page (bottom button). So at least if it does time out you don’t have to start all over again.

    Hope that helps.

Praying for all of you that are still going through this. I just completed all uploads today.

    Tips:

    1. Save after each entry if you have a lot to input per page or you type slow.

    2. Have ALL your information at your fingertips before you start.

    3. Double check file type and size when uploading documents. Compress when needed.

    4. Go to the state department website. Look up the country embassy you will go thru and determine the extra civil documents you will need.

    5. Download and review the interview checklist. So you know what originals you’ll need. Send them out express or priority mail to who will be interviewed asap AFTER you scan and upload to the website; they need original documents. Like the financial form, cert, etc

    5. Print and save receipts for everything you submit.

    6. Create a tabbed binder of all your documents that you will take to the interview—be organized.

    7. Pray always!

Dear all, I am able to log in and pay all the fees just 5 minutes ago. My case number and invoice ID were issued on Feb 20. I hope all the people can log in today.

Me too. The first 3 times I couldn’t sign in. Then an hour later it suddenly worked and I paid both fees. To God be the glory. In Jesus name Amen.

That's because you are K1! You guys get them faster than CR1/ IR1! Best of luck :)

I am at the 6 week mark too!  CR1 and IR1 are different than K1.  The K1 filers get case numbers in 2-3 weeks whereas we wait 6-8.  Frustrating for sure, but you should be getting one in the next 1-3 weeks.

What is K1? I’m an American citizen and I petitioned for my husband after I130 approval. It took about 7 weeks for us.

  11. I’m a female American citizen who was married in Lagos, Nigeria. I brought the marriage certificate back with me to the states because I would need it for the I-130 and for the DMV, Dept of State, Social Security Dept, and my employer to change my name. I asked the official in Nigeria to provide me with 2 of them but he insisted it wasn’t going to be necessary.

Now my husband needs the original for his interview.

He he has a certified copy of the marriage certificate.

Will that hat be accepted at the embassy for his visa interview?

I think the 2015 incident took about 3 weeks to fix, but still longer than I want to Wait.  My congressman is actually super helpful and I have their contact email now, but what would I ask him to do for me if the system is down? Get permission to submit some other way?

You will inform him of the issue that is impacting hundreds of people and which the State Dept is not providing a timely fix to nor properly communicating to the public about. Make him aware of the detrimental impacts this is having on you, your family and countless other lives.

    yes, that what she said...

we all should call again and see what they say

I’ve tried calling over and over and over again for hours, up until 9PM nonstop to only receive the call back when we reopen message. Which I did multiple times for 3 days and still can’t get through.

Ive sent 2 emails...no response. The best course for ALL of us is to bombard our representatives daily.

  14. Just got the notice today that my case was in the system, I however can’t sign in. I get the same error message. And the phone recording tells me to try my call later and hangs up. I sent an email. That’ll take them a week or two to reply.

I read the forum conversations from 2015 and it took numerous people writing their senators and congressman/woman to get anything done about it. 3 weeks later it was fixed.

I hope we don’t have to wait weeks for this issue to be resolved. I recommend contacting your representatives now (sooner than later). I know contacting Maxine Waters office will be a waste of time. Her staff are unprofessional, uncaring, non productive and complacent. I’ve dealt with them twice recently. I called her DC office but they can’t assist. Hope your representatives are better.
