I mean, this year I'll make well above the poverty line, but for the past few years, I haven't. So we will be using a co-sponsor. The I-134 actually isn't required for our embassy, but we still included a co-sponsor since I didn't make enough. Neither of us are lazy or leeches.

I don't have your dates of travel nor do I know the airport but for an experiment I used Reykjavik, Iceland to Cleveland and there are many different airports that he can fly through to get to Cleveland. Chicago, Toronto, Boston. The one through Boston he would leave 5 pm-ish and arrive next morning in Cleveland by way of Boston at 9:50 am. Up to you. Good luck but having to process in Toronto for immigration is not something you should be worried about.
No, Toronto is fine, it's just that I start a new job on the 25th and the first 6 weeks, attendance is mandatory. So the goal is for him to come Friday or Saturday (April 12th-13th.) But it's cheaper to fly on the 11th. So it's kind of just a puzzle of figuring out the cheapest flight with the least time spent between flights.

That wasn't your question but the answer is NO. Why are you so against getting processed from a US Immigration Officer who has a station on Canadian soil?
Because with the available flight options, he'll likely have to stay overnight in Canada. Whereas if he doesn't have to be processed, he can take a flight to Cleveland an hour or two after landing in Canada.

Some embassies such as Thailand require you to receive the P3 and follow those instructions, basically sending completed forms and other evidence requested and then once the embassy receives and reviews they issue the P4 which is the "go ahead" to schedule your interview appointment.
The Philippines is like most embassy to the embassy by some means, website, snail mail or email the P3 instructions. Normally those instructions are for the evidence need to complete the interview.
That's pretty much how I explained it.
Yeah I'm just wondering if it's optional I guess. Like, is there an option for him to NOT get processed in Canada?

Toronto does have USA immigration and customs where you will process as though it were a POE on US soil. There are handful of airports in the world that are authorized to do this work. Ireland is other airport that has USA POE capabilities. This is normal and nothing that you should be concerned about. Follow signs and airport personnel to reach and be processed.
Okay so if he flies to Toronto and then Cleveland, they'll process it as though he landed on U.S. soil while he's in Canada. It looks like no matter what we do, he'll have a POE besides Cleveland.

I've been informed that not all airports process k1 visas? I've also been told that, if my fiancé flies into Toronto, they'll do his k1 processing there because Cleveland doesn't do it? I googled it, but I'm not finding much to validate this and was hoping someone here might know.

I will for sure I don't think there is. I posted my medical experience in there so ill probably do the same for the interview when I get that over with! But I've noticed a bunch of people in the UK forum don't seem to know this thread exists so are a bit out of the loop when it comes to shipment updates and stuff we all talk about in here. I'd be lost without the help in this thread. It's made the whole process much easier
This whole website has been a Godsend (for lack of a better term) and I especially owe a lot of thanks to @Greenbaum for the amount of knowledge and expertise he provides. I'm so glad to be part of this community!

I recommend you at "Least wait" till the visa is in hand. There are tales of those who didn't wait all over VJ and it cost them hundreds of $$$$$ to make the necessary changes. One couple just the other day, lost money on tickets, the wedding and the wedding venue. But, it's your money.
Yeah that's the plan. He's going to book his flight(s) once he has the visa. We aren't in the business of wasting money.

Yessss 🙌🏼 I feel your pain lol my fiancé will probably end up taking two connections to finally reach Chicago 😩 which sucks because Chicago is supposed to be a great POE but his POE will end up being Miami which is super crowded I’m sure. Just wish airlines flew direct more often 😩
I'm also hoping flight prices don't jump too much because he's gonna be booking his flight with only a few days until he's moving.

Yeah.. This...
While ago.. My fiance and i were checking and we found a 1 way ticket that cost 700 sgd.. He asked me if we want to buy now or after the interview.. I said when we have the visa in hand 😩
That's what we're trying to do too. We want to at least wait until they tell him whether or not it's approved. His interview is on the 3rd and we're planning on him (hopefully) flying here around the 12th. Fingers crossed it all works out.

Oh well.. Just make sure he have enough layover time.. 😣
That's what we're working on. The whole thing is just annoying.

You mean you have to pass by 2 states?
There's also no direct flight from Singapore to Houston but plan will be connecting flight in another country like Japan or taiwan or Hong Kong...
Correct, so he would land in Boston and then fly to Cleveland. The other option is possibly landing in Canada and then flying to Cleveland, but that's a lot more expensive.

A one way for me is almost double the price of a return. Chattanooga can be expensive anyway but such a difference blows my mind 😕
I just did a quick search and it appears to be more expensive for a round trip. He's probably going to have to take 2 different flights from 2 different airlines anyway. WowAir stopped flying direct to Cleveland and it's super inconvenient.

totally had a blonde moment and forgot about that! are you finding that its way more expensive to book a one way compared to a return flight?
We haven't actually looked at a round trip, but I see where you're going. It might be cheaper to book a round trip and just stay here versus paying for a one way ticket.

Wow.. Now people here are already talking about poe..
Medical mar 12
Interview mar 27
Praying praying praying
We plan that our poe is the final destination, we dont want to risk not being able to get on the connecting flight..
Unfortunately from Iceland, the only option is a connecting flight. There aren't any airlines from Iceland that fly directly to his destination.

Can he fly through Dublin? You clear customs in Dublin airport before you step foot on a plane, its makes the process easier when its done first and you dont need to spend god knows how long on a flight worrying about clearing immigration when you land!
It's so much more expensive to do it that way and it's kinda in the opposite direction.
-

LOL............plan for the first location in the US. Dublin, Abu Dhabi and a few other highly unlikely choices for Iceland have "pre-clearance" where you clear immigration in those countries. Don't worry about that........figure on first landing location.
The issue is the flight schedule with my work schedule. He's likely going to need to land in Boston. But I need his final flight to land after 5pm and preferably before midnight since I can't miss work at all for the first 6 weeks of training.
-
Just now, DanielPlainview said:
.....unless he connects through Dublin. Then he'll clear immigration there.
This is just ridiculous lol. I don't know how we're going to do this exactly.

Just now, DanielPlainview said:
You got it !! It's the first US city where he'll land.
Shoot. That's really annoying.

That's to close to your next flight. Min should be 4 hours. If you have to go into secondary screening at immigration it could be an hour to 2 hour wait.
Okay so even if I book it through one airline's website, he'll have to go through that process in Boston, not when he reaches his final destination.
