I didn't say it's a perfect solution but it is better to tax, regulate and check ID for those who purchase those things then it is to leave it to a street corner drug dealer who could care less how old their customers are and doesn't pay taxes or follow product quality regulations. People unfortunately are going to use those things whether they are illegal or legal. Might as well make sure they aren't minors and they aren't using products that are adulterated with substances more harmful than the drug it's self. Oh and we can bring in a little more tax revenue in the process. Like I said it is far from perfect but we only really have two choices on how to deal with the problem and I think we should choose the one that harms our society the least.

I don't believe an eighth grader should be smoking anything - pot or tobacco.  And there is still not enough data to suggest that any of this stuff should be encouraging news.

We saw some folks are raising money for a border wall to keep out our migrant siblings and fellow human beings, who are fleeing violence and persecution and whose tragically-underpaid labor is essential to the U.S. economy.

Seems none of my siblings are migrating here via out southern border, not sure who they are talking about.
 
Those that truly qualify for legal asylum, I wish them well and Godspeed. Those trying to circumvent our national laws, enjoy Mexico.

Never thought I would say this but I agree with you 100%. There is a reason no invading army has conquered Afghanistan since Alexander the great and he only held it for a few years. This is Vietnam all over again. The only difference is we have a president with the sense to get us out before we have to resort to a frantic evacuation from the embassy roof via helicopter. I am very sad to say that because my brother and some of my friends served in Afghanistan. They served with honor and we should be grateful for their service but that doesn't mean we throw more of them into a meat grinder for no good reason. It is interesting though how some in the anti war crowd have put being anti Trump ahead of being anti war all of a sudden. 

I have been thinking about this a bit and we need to change the whole congressional pay and benefits structure. First of all they get paid no more than the lowest paid soldier in combat receives. Second they are given access to the VA health care system for their health care benefits. Third they lose all pay and benefits during a government shutdown for the duration of the shutdown with no back pay. Honestly I think it should be a volunteer job with no pay except expense reimbursements but if we have to pay them that is the structure I would use.

As much as I disagree with this sheriff they are within their authority to do this. The sheriff is the highest ranking law enforcement officer in their county even above the feds. The reason for that is they are elected to their office. Technically this sheriff does have the right to remove ICE agents from facilities they are in charge of. They do not have the right however to aid any illegal aliens in any way other than provide for their basic needs while they are incarcerated. Anything above that is a felony under federal law. While the sheriff does have the authority to remove ICE from their facilities I think it is a dereliction of their duty and voters should remove them. Being that it is California I doubt this will happen.
