OMG I posted to the regular AOS about this and noone responded but we had the same thing happen, interview was Oct.8 "they" lost our medical records (who? POE? NBC? field office?) and were advised by the less then pleasant agent that there was nothing that could be done, this happens all the time, to go have the exam redone at a cost to us, which we stupidly did, now the new problem is she kept the vaccination records (yes I know I know we should have had a copy) and the civil surgeon needs them to complete the 693. Oh yeh you know there is no way to get a hold of a field office, no phone #, and we even drove back down there as luck would have it they "were out for training" we have called the call center, spoke to TWO tier 2 agents (one was the one who advised us to drive back down there) and the other one said "there is nothing they can do" so now we are out $400 for the medical exam and most likely will have to re-do the vaccines for another $200

So how did things shake out for you?  We were never told she could put in a request,,,,

Our case was a little different from yours. They didn’t actually “lose” our packet. They just didn’t sent the packet to the local officer for our interview. We were waiting for the officer to receive and review it before a decision. We had our decision about 2-3 weeks after our interview. Green card in hand about a month after interview.

Hi! What phone number did your husband use to find out where his packet was? I haven’t been able to even get hold of them, let alone speak to a tier 2 officer. Any info you can give would be much appreciated. It’s been 5 weeks now since my interview and I have heard nothing at all! 😔

Can I safely assume you guys have the greencard in hand now? 🙂🤞🏽🎉

Yes, my husband has green card in hand! From the day he called(Monday) they said it was in production. It arrived that Friday. I had him call the contact center live assistance  number from uscis : 800-375-5283. He talked to the first officer and explained the situation after giving initial information and requesting to talk to tier 2. A tier 2 officer called back about 4-6hours later and had the answers. My husband called around 7:30am PST.

Ah that’s amazing! Does your online USCIS account reflect that? I was going to give it until the end of this week and try phoning them. Congratulations, what a relief that must be for you guys!! 🙂😊

Uscis still shows “interview finished and case needs to be reviewed” so it was a surprise when the officer said they are producing the card now. Huge relief. Especially since my husband never got his EAD approved. Been stuck waiting on that.

Hi! Well done on getting through the interview! 🙂I’m an early January AOS filer in a similar situation. I had my GC interview on Thursday but was told they can’t proceed because they don’t have my medical exam from my K1 visa in my file. I wasn’t told how long it would delay things, just that he would put in a request to find it.

I really hope you guys hear something back soon! 🤞🏽😃  please update on here if you do. 🙂

Hey Meg101, you may want to try calling uscis to see the status. Talk to a tier 2. I just had my husband call about where his packet was, and the tier 2 officer told him that his green card is already in production and we will be getting it in about 5 days! Woohoo!

Question for those of you who had the interview already: did your interview letter request a certified copy of the marriage certificate? If so, did they really want to see that and keep it? With everything in lockdown there’s a 6-8 week wait for certified copies from the department of health over here so there’s no way I can get that before the interview. I mean worst case scenario I bring the original and they keep it, right?? Haha interesting times.. 😄 Any insight is greatly appreciated 😊

They did not keep the certified marriage license we brought with us since we had already mailed one in with our i485 packet.

I will definitely update as soon as I hear anything. Hoping our offices both get our proper files ASAP!!

Husband got his biometrics appointment letter in the mail today!! Only 14 days after we mailed the package. His appointment is on December 30th. So happy things are going lots faster than I thought in the beginning. I know itll be many months or a year after this though. It isn't as bad as the k1 wait though because we're together waiting. 😎

Congrats! My husband just got his Biometrics appointment in the mail yesterday as well; took 2 weeks from mailing packet out, and his appointment is on 12/30!

  8. Figured id give a quick update!

So my fiance had his interview back in July, was told he was approved but then got a request for the "Extra vetting, DS-5535" form. He got that sent in within a few days. About 6 weeks later they sent his passport back to him, with a 221(g) form stating he was in AP and send him an email requesting that he send the DS-5535 form(my guess is they never got the first one, sheesh). He finally got a human response that they got it the day after he emailed that to him.

After about 6 more weeks he just got an email from the consulate requesting his passport back!!!!! Hopefully they will hurry up and put his visa together, and mail it back asap so he can finally make his final plans to move down. I will update once its official!
