Best of luck!! I can’t wait to hear how it goes! Is there ever a chance that you get your passport back same day? I’d always assumed it was sent via courier no matter what.

I already paid for the courier service. With that said, if the passport was ready on Monday, I'd be flying to New York on Tuesday.

I'll enquire and see if it's possible in the same day. Obviously I'll post my findings.

I managed to book my appointment for August using the option you mentioned so thank you so much

When I finished booking it came up with this on the confirmation page “You must print this instruction page and bring it with you to your consular interview, along with the letter or email you received from the Consular Section.”

I don’t have an email or letter from the consular section, only the email from NVC saying my expedite was approved and then another email saying it had been sent to London. Will this suffice or am I in trouble? 🤞

Use the contact is form on the London website. They'll get back to you. That's what I am using. It's from the Consular Unit.

Out of interest, if you don't mind sharing, how did the interview go? Were you asked about health insurance (it seems like this is a routine question now) and were you asked to provide a completed DS-5540? Congratulations on reaching the end of this process and good luck with your upcoming trip across the pond.

I don't know how it went; it's next Monday!

I've seen that question coming up a lot next and I have a basic grasp of the public charge rule.

I’m going on my wife’s employee insurance, but obviously I can’t prove anything because I don’t know what date I’m going to be there! Seems a silly question.

I’ve completed the DS5540, but not expecting them to want it, as the affidavit of support clearly displays I won’t become a charge. However, it will be ready to hand over if need be.

  4. It is normal. It happened to me and my expedited case. The next day it was sent to London.

Do not wait 2-3 weeks for them to contact you. Keep checking CEAC, it will become obvious when London receive.

You can then contact them via their website. Tell them you have been expedited and your case is in London. I got a reply the next day and booked an interview slot then. I get interviewed on Monday.

You will have to book the interview yourself via aid.usvisa-info.com

If you want any help send me a direct message.

    Congrats! 🎊

To this very second, I do not see the reason of creating a timeline. After all, what does it change?)

So thers can help you more effectively. You can compare your timeline with other, similar applications.

It is impossible to help you, because no one knows anything about you. It’s a two way street here! I don’t even know what visa you are applying for.

How to get it effectively expedited? Could you please share?

In fact, no one really shares the info about this, like it’s so confidential.

Thats because it is confidential, the reason is very personal and I wouldn’t fully share with strangers the reason why.

If you check NVC, they say what you can expedite a case for, and how to go about it.

Just received my passport & envelope this morning. 😊

The visa annotations section specifically mentions the following:

Hopefully that will make it easier to board the plane as well.

Ah. Congrats. I'm sure your won't have any problems entering.

I interviewed on Monday and got a verbal approval.

CEAC changed to "issued" on Thursday.

I got the shipping notice on Friday, with tracking details.

According to the tracking I should be receiving it tomorrow.

I'd heard stories about the pick up depots still being closed (indeed, that's what their website notice says) so I made sure to switch to delivery at the last moment.

yeah, I need to change mine to be delivered to the house.

    When do you fly out?

I’m still expecting something to up. This whole process has taught me not to assume things are going to go smoothly.

  9. Cool, thanks guys. I wasn’t expecting to use it, but the form is filled out now and i’ll get it printed when I come to London this weekend. I’m not expecting they will want to see it, but it’s better to have and not need.. The wording on the form is “may”, I imagine that sort of stuff is scrutinised in more detail from other countries. From looking at my I-864, there would be no way anyone would suspect i’d be a public charge.

@Melc How long did it take to get your passport back by courier?

Not personally yet but i emailed our embassy who informed us that they are now requiring the DS5540 at the interview. Yours may be as well

According to the State Departments immigrant visa process website it may be required. It's probably a good idea to have it prepared and bring it with relevant evidence to the interview in case it is asked for.

    4. Public Charge Questionnaire: DS:5540

You may be asked to present a completed DS-5540, Public Charge Questionnaire, and supporting evidence at the time of your interview. To prepare that documentation in advance, please visit the DS-5540 Public Charge Questionnaire page of this website.

Yes, I just filled it out. Better to be safe than sorry.

I’m sure they wont even ask for it, as the Affidavit of Support shows more than enough income and a good amount of savings.
