  1. That is not an issue, they always focus more on taking your expired green card or unexpired green card on oath ceremony day. Good luck on your interview.
  2. This happened to me. My interview was actually cancelled few hours before the interview. Reason was that my file was not with them. I got another interview after a little bit over a month. They will definitely send a mail to you when you will be rescheduled. Don’t think too much about it.
  3. Manslaughter, voluntary or involuntary is a crime against moral turpitude. You being young and have never met him and are talking about marriage is sketchy. We see a lot of felons in the USA looking for an easy way out and you may be a victim of such. Just like some people mentioned here, there is more ahead than just trying to get here and work and live. Being a felon in the USA is challenging and you must be ready mentally to support him. Study him, don't hurry into something which you know you will be the one spending in almost everything, we see a lot of such cases here everyday, talk to family and friends, open up before you venture into this, no parent will want to hear about this kind of adventure when it must have taken a sad turn already. I am not judging you, just being straight forward here.
  4. Your lawyer is wrong, you are free to apply, I have a friend who had more stays out of the US than you do and she had no problem naturalizing. Just make sure you provide enough proof of ongoing marriage when filing.
  5. Your passport will be stamped upon entry into the USA and that will serve as proof of your permanent residency for up to a year or till when you receive your physical green card. Unless your passport is stamped, you are technically not allowed to work in the USA, so I will advise you get your passport stamped (endorsed) then you can send out your job applications.
  6. My spouse lost hers in 2016 and did not realize until my interview day, was never asked for it, we did a police report on it and till my citizenship, it was never brought up. We just know it's somewhere around the house. So you should be fine with the lost certificate receipt.
  7. Personally, I don't think pre clearance is a good idea as they may easily deny you boarding your flight, since you will still be home in Ireland it may be easier for them to tell you to start the journey afresh by reapplying for your green card immigration process. Hop in a plane, don't panic, do not surrender your card while here, get all necessary documents regarding your mom's health and in case you get an NTA, you will show the immigration judge so you can get a favorable outcome.
  8. I will suggest you try to get an info pass and go with the certificate there and any other document that may be needed to fix it.
  9. Most times when the co approves the visa at the embassy, the supervisor has to give the final approval and also sometimes they are doing final checks, there is nothing to worry about and you just wait for confirmation of approval and passport in hand with visa on it before you make any travel plans, congratulations in advance.
  10. You are filing based on the 3 year rule, meaning you have to show 3 years worth of proof that you lived in marital union with your spouse, eg utilities, bank statements, insurances, basically it's almost like the documentation for removal of condition, but it needs to be up to date, Pictures, etc select random bills, if you started living with your husband say in june 2020, put like 3 receipts of that year, like few more receipts for random years that is, 2020,2021,2022,2023, you don't need a tone of these, just few. They will need proof of comingling and living together in marital union, lease / rent, life insurance showing each others as beneficiary, health insurance too, kids' birth certificates of pet ownership docs, if you removed conditions and submitted these, make sure you submit them again and add the recent ones you got after submission of I751. You have a lot of resources on this forum to look from.
  11. Nowadays a lot of people do what has just been described by op, live like room mates. If USCIS went that route of asking what he wore last night, it’s because they must have visited the area and maybe must have spoken to neighbors before interview was done and they may conduct more visits. This is definitely not looking good for op, very few married couples will live in separate rooms and op’s reason for this is "since Covid". Take to the advises here and start getting ready for a lawyer in case things go deeper south.
  12. Proof of citizenship you can use your passport too,so include your passport as a second proof of citizenship so you have a back up in case they somehow still see a mix up in your birth certificate.
  13. You raised a few points which somehow answer the question to your worry. Decision was not reached because she wants to do further background check with regards to your marriage. Don’t be surprised if they reach out to your ex spouse. She mentioned to make sure you did not initiate divorce before your i751 etc. Just hang tight and wait to hear from them.
  14. Safe to say you have to update dmv, in My State that is where I physically registered to vote because U couldn’t do it online. Give them a call.
  15. Depends on when you naturalized, but every info on the replaced certificate will be the same only the design may be different, reason why I said it depends on when you naturalized.
  16. It’s a ceremony full of excitement, speeches, advice on how to handle your certificate, relax you are fine, you are gonna see a lot of babies there too 😊
  17. Covid regulations have been relaxed in nearly all 50 states, there is no problem bringing your toddler to your oath ceremony, I saw a lot of babies during mine few months ago and we were in an auditorium, matter of fact, a friend of mine whom we naturalized on the same day came with her two kids, a 3yo and a 4mo, some kids were crying out loud and it didn’t bother anyone. congratulations on your citizenship.
  18. Depending on circumstances, mine was straight forward under the 3 year rule. Fun part is that this process went so fast and today makes it 6 months that I’ve been naturalized and it amazes Me because sometimes I forget that I am a citizen 😂
  19. Yes, having a green card, living in the USA with a job, gives you upper hand in having green card for Europe easy peasy. America is considered the greatest country in the world and once you have a green card, are living here, have a decent income, then you got your visa. Is Europe not EU? You get visa for one country, you get for "all".
  20. Congratulations on passing your n400, USCIS is backlogged now so they may have forgotten to update your status in the system and yes your physical file for the ROC was not with them that is why he says he needs it so he can review it, I had the same situation but My interview was cancelled 3hrs before it happened, I waited for about 5-6weeks for a new date and yes I was approved for ROC without second interview too (cr1 visa). Just hang in there you will be getting your oath ceremony notice once they go through your ROC file, if you were approved without interview it means they were satisfied on that part so no need to panic.
  21. Your local USCIS office, call and ask to talk to a tier 2 officer, or if a tier one answers and can schedule you for an in person appointment, then you go and they will stamp your passport with a stamp that serves as proof of your legal status for one year. This way you can travel without any problem.
  22. There is no other way to make it faster, just file i90 to fix it, get the stamp on your passport and travel to your country, your status as green card holder will not be affected. If you travel with a wrong name on your green card, you may end up having a hard time getting back in the States.
  23. If she has not yet paid the green card fee which is about $220, she should pay it online and fill in all the required information. She does not need the physical green card in order to get her ssn, with her stamped passport and Alien number she can go to their office and apply for a social security card. Atleast this is how mine went when I came into this country almost 4 years ago.
  24. Like the others mentioned, do not mention your health challenges if they don’t ask. Answer just what is asked and do not volunteer any extra information that may delay your application.
