So looks like they finally entered my wife's application into the system on Friday. The receipt number is working now and it shows "submitted on" date of 9/3. The description does have the correct date of 8/13 for being received. Now, if they will just send the extension letter
Informed delivery is showing two letters for my wife and daughter, today. Guessing the letter for daughter is a re-do for the new 24 month extension.

Omg! Ugh.
I just did the Ask Emma thing and spoke to a live rep and she said she couldn't find anything with our receipt number and nothing shows pending under his A number and to call them if we don't' get anything in 14 days.
Yeah. I didn't find Emma to be very helpful, regarding this.

So, not trying to freak out lol but it's been almost a week and my case number still shows not found in the system and no NOA1 in the mail yet. Anyone had this issue with their case number that lasted more than a few days?
We're at 2+ weeks and counting. Case number still says invalid on both sites. No extension letter in mail. I find it very weird since our daughter got her letter in 6 days and she's a dependent on the application.

@Strontium Maybe the other letter will come in today, or this weekend, or sometime next week? Weird. I wonder if they got sent separately or something. I probably wouldn't worry too much.
12 minutes ago, Lana&Ivy said:On the new site my case number was "invalid" at first too. I've since received the extension letter and now both sites recognize my case #.
Thanks guys. Nothing to do but wait, anyways

So, we sent in the packet last week on 8/11. Daughter is added to the application (wife is primary). They received it on 8/13. Got text message on Tuesday of this week 8/17.
Received daughter's extension letter yesterday 8/19. The receipt number on daughter's i-797 works on both old and new case status sites. It, correctly, identifies her application as the dependent of the primary applicant. The receipt number from the text message is "invalid" on both the old and new sites and no sign of the i-797 for the mother. Throughout this whole process, we've been getting every NOA at the same time.
Kinda wondering what the deal is.

Thanks for the reply Hank. Been researching this all morning. The laws seem to vary from state to state. Seems most will refer you to the issuing authority. Which doesn't help in the case of the visa stamp...
I think we're going to try and contact someone at the consulate for clarification. It seems really weird to require certified copies of those things when the thing that is to be proven is the marriage.
New York consulate doesn't list birth certificate either.
-
I seriously hate to necro. However, in this thread @Hank_ states that CTC only applies to Marriage Cert/Records. Quoting directly from New York consulates web page, it says what I pasted below. Any insight on this? How are we supposed to get CTC of these items if notaries will refuse? I guess we could tear the Visa page out of her passport for that one. But what about the bio pages then?
They can't seriously expect us to mail in the originals leaving us without passports/ID's?
Thanks for any help.
Begin paste:
Proof of Filipino Citizenship of Applicant/s at the time of marriage
Submit one (1) original/CTC and (3) photocopies.
Samples of proof of Filipino citizenship are: US Naturalization Certificate, US Permanent Resident Card, Valid Visa or Work Permit; or Dual Citizenship papers (Identification Certificate and Approval Order)Valid Passports or IDs of Husband & Wife
Submit one (1) Certified True Copy or CTC and (3) photocopies.
Valid passports or IDs of HUSBAND and WIFE who is filing the application. -

For those of you had your interview already. My status changed to card is being produced. Do I have to wait to see a case was approved status to be fully sure that I was approved? 😅
Congrats! "New card being produced" means you've been approved. It will change to "case approved" and then "card was mailed" soon

Agree with everyone else. Our SSA officer kept asking for EAD or I-94 and I had to tell her that 1) the I-94 is expired and irrelevant, and 2) my wife has a green card so the EAD is also irrelevant.
If you live in a large enough city, go to another office if you can't get it resolved at the current one. If not, just tell them you don't have an EAD.

Our IO did about the same. Didn't really seem concerned about the evidence. Nothing to worry about.

Clearly if one application says I have a daughter, one cannot submit an affidavit of support with only 2 as total household, which the op is planning to do otherwise.
be careful.
I guess that depends on whether the daughter is actually a dependant, doesn't it?

indeed...hence I don't argue over this point.
Leave it blank and if you get a "by the book" officer, he/she will reject the application that a section has not been completed.
search the forum how many times this happened, especially over the security questions...it doesn't matter if in theory it did not need to be filled out.
There is no "theory". It is black and white, literally, in text. If people are having their applications rejected for correctly reading the questions, then THAT is the error.

Someone called this to my attention and they may have a point. They said I do NOT need to include the petitioner's (my husband's) daughter because the form asks in the context of whether or not the principal applicant needs their children sponsored together with them. Looking at the form, it does seem to have that line of questioning:
I
(That photo came out larger than I anticipated, sorry)
Considering the A-Number line, question number 6...
What do you think?Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
At the interview, the IO had to add my daughter from a previous marriage as my wife's stepdaughter. I (USC) hadn't even considered this as she is an adult now. Basically, I failed to read the "Note" closely. So, yes, add his daughter, then check "no".
Although, the IO had to check with someone through chat about this. So, it could also be that our IO was just inexperienced

Part 8., 63.b. - If your answer to Item Number 63.a. is "Yes," do you believe you had reasonable cause?
> I answered "No" on 63.a. so this item should be N/A to me, but there are only Yes and No boxes. Should I check "No" anyway, write N/A, or leave it blank?I put No to both 63 a and b.
Since there is no N/A option and you cannot leave it blank, which would be ground to refuse your application, just put there NO too.
Disagree. Answering 63.b. is conditional upon answering yes to 63.a.... In fact, it says it right there "IF".

Green Card approved!
Our interview was at 10.30am this morning at the Queens, NY office, we were done by 10.55am.
We got super lucky, the officer had visited my hometown in England so we all just chatted and joked about it.The officer only asked 3 questions: he asked my husband where I was from (which lead to the chat about my hometown), asked us both how we met and he asked me where my husband worked. He didn't ask to see any pictures or evidence. The only thing he asked to see was our marriage certificate because he couldn't find it in our file (he found it later).
He told us we were approved and I should receive my Green Card in the next two weeks. SO relieved that I will make it home for the holidays.

How to find out if you have informed delivery active? If you do not have, how do you opt for it and do they charge for informed delivery?
Go to https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action and sign up. It's free. Also make sure to check the notification options in the informed delivery site (a bell icon next to the word "settings".

Yeah but usps wont update that until they pick it up and scan it in which usually happens after that status. Ours didnt even show on Informed Delivery until the next day.
Our status change did show unavailable on the email notification but when you visit the desktop site it shows you the tracking.
YMMV of course...

If you have USPS informed delivery, the tracking number will be on the platform, if not , I will suggest you just check your mail on Friday 22nd or 23rd Saturday.
19 minutes ago, celie&joseph said:You wont get tracking until in a couple of days when the status changes to "Card picked up by USPS" or something like that. The tracking will be in the status summary and will also show up in your Informed Delivery.
If you have informed delivery, there are notification options for when a "package" first hits the system. I don't think they are enabled by default. I enabled them last week. As soon as USPS picked ours up I got an email from informed delivery, with tracking number etc. A couple of hours later, the old site updated to "USPS picked up" and where the tracking number should be it said UNAVAILABLE. The new site updated with the same, but with tracking number, the day after we received the cards lol.

Just as with anything, someone has to be first... I'm guessing most backlogged cases are flagged for interviews.
