    What’s the expedite based on?

Hi!  I haven't looked up qualifications/procedure yet, but I would attempt to get one based on my (petitioner) increased anxiety along with no childcare options when work opens up again in our area; I've seen several expedites approved based on these circumstances in the facebook groups I follow.

We are torn as to whether we should just continue to wait for my husband's interview.. but with the CDC director warning of a second wave coming this winter, it seems likely the consulate in Juarez won't even open again until next year.  My husband has been waiting over 20 years to see his parents in person again.

  2. HI all - Not all consulates are treating successful expedites as emergency interviews? The Juarez (Mexico) consulate has been doing expedited visa interviews the past month even tho the consulate has been closed to any other activity since March... we have no proper reason for expedite otherwise we'd be all over it

    Mexico Consulate in Juarez

    Waiting for visa interview

    Yes

If the consulate is closed for x months, add another month or two to get things running.  Covid-19 hasn't peaked yet in Mexico and towns are getting locked down.   I don't know what the situation is in CDJ but at our place in Sonora the town is closed down until June.

Easy enough thanks!  Forgive my technically challengedness ... any idea if there is a thread for people waiting for interviews in Juarez 2020 that I can follow?

Here still waiting CC June 2019, I saw some CC May 2019 that have interview date in March, it is moving along but not fast enough, getting worried now about the new rules and new forms DS5540 it does not make sense to ask all that information to the applicant 😒 when some applicants have never been in the US, any thoughts?

    CC August 2019 here.

Following many Juarez interview facebook pages, and some have been asked to fill out this DS5540 at the interview, some have been put into administrative processing to fill it out, and some are not asked at all.  As far as I can tell, it really is up to the interviewing agent where you fall in these categories.  I would bring down a completed DS5540 just in case, that is what we are doing.   Even though I also make above the HHS poverty guideline 2020 for my family, my husband is also bringing down co-sponsor paperwork just in case.  This whole process is just nuts and I can't wait for it to all be over with.

Also on a wacky side note -  I've read more than one facebook posting of people in AP from DECEMBER interviews where agents asked for their 2019 tax return.  I'm just... trying to hold on to my sanity here honestly.

  5. Regarding the interview -   - My husband's cc was August 2019... so he will likely interview in Juarez August 2020.  Since a new tax year will have passed - when the interviewer asks for his DS-260 paperwork will he present our original I-864 with our 2018 return?  Or is he supposed to give a new I-864 with our 2019 return? Thoughts?

I have also heard that USCIS is coming out with a new version of the I-864 form later this month to reflect all of this public charge hoo ha; true?  And if so, everyone would have to present a new I-864 to their interview?

Yes I agree, but since we needed our 2018 taxes and according to the consular officer the person on the I864 wasn’t family he refused it. That’s the reason we got the public charge. In November we over came it by sending in a new I864 and our 2018taxes.

You do not have to be related to the beneficiary to be his/her joint sponsor... this is stated right on the I-864 instructions.  That is not legal reason for denial.

Hi didn’t your husband get his is interview date yet? I’m still waiting it’s been 10 months now 😔

From what I've gathered from this forum and the facebook groups I belong to, current interview wait times for Juarez are taking anywhere from 10 to 13 months from your cc date.  This is due to the influx of visa applications reacting to our current administration.

I also will add my husband to my policy when/if he gets here. I talked to our central office people, who gave me a copy of our rules that say that spouses/children can be added due to a life-changing event. Getting a visa to come here is considered a life-changing event, so I will have evidence that he will have health insurance. Can you do that?

The current declaration states your husband must present evidence that he will obtain health insurance within 30 days of entering with his visa; unless we are given clearer instructions after the injunction hearing on Friday, he would be find bringing a copy of your health plan with an affidavit from you saying he will be added once in the US.

I am currently on my mothers healthcare plan. We both work at the same place. I talked to our HR manager about how I go about adding my husband and 2 sons. She told me not to worry because, it's a "life change" event, and I could start my own plan and add them when they arrive.

My HR manager wants me to get a copy of the rule that states they need to be insured within 30 days. Does anyone happen to know where I can find that? Thank you.

A change in status (visa) is grounds for a special enrollment period for any health insurance company.
