Why didn't you just pay the $300 for an officiant and get married by Dec 31? You would have saved thousands of dollars by being able
to file joint taxes together. $300 is nothing compared to the cost for the AOS and everything else you will need. And this all delays getting your employment authorization which is going to be a few thousands at least in lost wages.

So the lost savings from joint taxes and employment is huge compared to $300

I don't quite understand, did you send your petition without any evidence towards the requirements? You are supposed to send quite a few things with your petition, which can be found on the official uscis I-129f website.

Green card holders can't petition for a fiancée to stay in the USA.
Son should marry fiancee and petition her and son using I-130. However, she still can't stay inside the US because she doesn't qualify to adjust status. She'll will have to return home and wait out the rest of the process. Let me stress this, make sure she doesn't overstay her ESTA stay. Good luck.

Yes, a way better option (preferably not smoke it, but use the oil) than socially acceptable morphine or other horrible prescribed medications for example! I assume you are not aware that it can be used for that purpose?

OP: how did he manage the pain when he was visiting you in the US? The reason I am asking is because they can try to challenge him on that, they might wonder why he didn't 'need' it in the US. I hope this all works out for you!

Your journey is not over. If the doctors/ the embassy feel your partner’s use is an issue he will have to refrain from using marijuana for the next year.
I’m not sure when the medical is, but I suggest he speaks to his prescribing doctor and requests he 1. Asks the doctor to write a reason behind the past prescription 2. Prescribe something different 3. Start documenting that your partner has stopped using marijuana.
Another member based out of the UK starting documenting he stopped drinking several months before his medical and this shortened the period as his year look back was not from medical but when he stopped drinking.
I want to repeat YOUR JOURNEY IS NOT OVER. if you want, if your partner is refused you can consider getting married and going the spousal route. A refusal is not the end of the road.

Each consulate can choose to offer DCF… or not.. The USC needs to email them and outline your request… usually it’s because of an  urgent need to relocate because of a firm
job offer for the USC. But its not guaranteed that your request will be granted. You will end up interviewing in Montreal whether you go DCF or Consular  processing.

Just to be clear, she doesn't have 'approx 6 months', she will have a very specific date that she has to enter by, and that will be on her visa. Make sure she enters at least a few days before that deadline.

    Good luck.

I disagree.  Muslim religion permits meeting in person, maybe with a chaperone.  A waiver of the K-1 requirement to meet at least once in the two years prior to filing the I-129F is rarely approved.  I have never seen one in six years as a member of VJ.

OP, CR-1 is the superior visa.  Do not get married on the first visit, this is a huge red flag.  Multiple visits prior to marriage and filing the I-130 is the best path forward to show that the marriage relationship is bona fide.  It will take time and money, but if you are really doing this for love you'll find a way.  Good luck!

I think, perhaps, the word "grooming" wasn't quite the right word. OP is in their 70s - the daughter is most definitely an adult. It may be immoral and gross, but it is not illegal for a man to attempt to sleep with his adult stepdaughter.

I would add that you should freeze your credit with all 3 bureaus (it's free - you can do it online). Someone who is willing to do the things she has done, is likely also willing to try and fraudulently apply for credit in your name.

Gross income is income earned BEFORE deductions/taxes are taken out. So if her gross pay on her current paystubs are ~$800 per week, her gross annual income is ~$41,600.

Hi Everyone, I wanted to thank you all for being really helpful members of this forum. I received my IR1 visa recently from Montreal and was finally reunited with my wife and our cat in the US. It felt really good to be admitted to the US as a resident and not as a visitor (which is always very tenuous).

I hope you all have smooth immigration journeys, and that I may be able to help answer any questions you have.

See you folks in 3 years when its citizenship application time

    Cheers, and take care

beloved_dingo reacted to appleblossom in Green Card has not arrived and no status
She should definitely have it by now, as above you need to track it using the case status website (with the receipt number from the GC fee). See what that says.

If the status is stuck on 'fee was paid', then you need to fill in this form to get things moving and find out what's wrong - https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayNDCForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=ndc

It might be that she has to redo her biometrics or photo or something like that (same thing happened to my daughter, her GC never arrived and it was because her photo wasn't acceptable so had to be redone). But don't panic, her endorsement on her IV in her passport is good as a temporary GC for a year.

beloved_dingo reacted to pushbrk in Can I apply for my step-child when my wife is already at the interview stage w/ appointment scheduled?
Asking the Consulate to accept, MIGHT work, and an expedite might be granted too, but even an expedite will not get the child a visa before the mother's expires.  There's also the option to delay the Mother's interview, if it is critical they travel together.  Otherwise the child eventually travels alone or one of you goes back to get them.

Your US citizen petitioner should be able to send a postal money order from the US, to the municipality office in Japan.

On what basis are you "being advised" that an RFE is likely? The large majority of filings do not get an RFE. For those that do get an RFE, it is either because the filer made a mistake and/or left out necessary documents/information OR because USCIS lost documents on their end. The first situation is easily preventable by being thorough, doing your research, asking questions here if there's any confusion, and double-checking everything before the packet is sent off.

I wasn't allowed in, either, so I was surprised then Neil came out and told me it was a combo interview. The IO came out with him and said that the one obstacle to her approving the I-751 was that she could see transfers from my personal account into our joint account. I had never sent them anything from my personal account because I thought it was irrelevant.  She wanted to see a statement from it before she would approve the ROC. She gave us 15 minutes to do it, and I downloaded it and emailed it to her on my phone! She replied by saying that she'll see us at the oath ceremony in a few hours! It was a hectic 15 minutes, but we chilled at Starbucks until the ceremony. What an exciting day!
