  1. I'm getting ready to mail in my application but wanted some feedback first because it feels so light, especially when I see your guys' pictures.

Besides form G-1145 and i-751 I have included:

    Copy of green card

Partial copy of 2021 joint tax return

Copy of bank statement showing a shared investment account

Copy of bank statement showing joint bank account

Copy of our health insurance cards showing a joint policy

    Copy of our lease agreement

Copy of our daughter's birth certificate, born in 2021

    What do you think?

  2. How long does it take to get the interview notice after it's been scheduled?

My status changed to "Interview was scheduled" two weeks ago but I still haven't gotten a notice in the mail, and when I called USCIS to ask about it the lady just repeated the same "We will mail you an interview notice. Follow the instructions. If you move update your address" that I can read online. I don't want to risk missing my interview.

@jaysaldi Why are you keep saying I declared false things? were you with me at the border? did you ask me the officer's questions? I do not think so. I was not asked what was the "main" purpose of my visit(besides other questions like how much money I had and what were my belongings). I was asked why I was going to the States. My wife was not either my main purpose not my only one. I had to do lots of stuff here in US that I can prove it if an IO asks, including staying with my wife, and I do not think it is your business to know what I had to do in US. I hope it is clear to you. You are not the one I have to convince but you are not the one to judge or convict people as well.

You saying seeing your wife wasn't your top priority? Bet she would love to her that. 😂

Generally the COs are able to make a decision based off the answers in the DS-160 and the interview. Rarely do they take into account documents brought to the interview

Oh gotcha. Having gone through the K1 visa process and currently the AOS process I guess I'm overthinking things a little. 😅

The only possible issue with an airline boarding her would be if she was to transit a country that requires 6 months for entry ( even if it is only transit - this is something I almost found out the hard way).  If it’s direct or via somewhere that requires 3 months, or just requires validty of stay (like UK), she’ll be fine.

That's a great point to think about, thank you.

@designguy and @Paul & Mary thank you both for the help. I'm going to do some more research but can I also ask you, what does she need to bring to her interview? I'm guessing proof of residency, marriage certificate and letter from her boss would prove her ties to Sweden?

  6. My family are coming to visit me in the US for two weeks in May. They're Swedish citizens (I moved to the US on a K1 visa Aug 2019) so luckily they can travel on ESTA. My dad's wife however, is a Thai citizen who's been in Sweden for two years now I believe, so she's a permanent resident but not a citizen yet. I have two questions regarding her.

    1. She would be able to apply for a B2 Visa at the US Embassy in Sweden, correct?

    2. Her passport expires in September 2020, but the 6 month rule won't affect her right?

    Thanks for the feedback!

I also kept my maiden name for continuity and consistency on my AOS case. Plus, after 10yrs on F-1 all my valid IDs--and by extension--Bills, Joint Accounts etc. were in my maiden name anyway.

Just Curious *(anyone is free to answer): Did you keep your maiden name for similar reasons? Do you think the IO will ask why or care? My husband and other married people I asked say it's no big deal..but they've never been through the immigration process so..

    *grain of salt*

I tried changing my name at the Social Security office but the agent said it was best not to until after the EAD card, so I've waited. Seeing everyone's updates I'm hoping for some news soon too.

That's  correct we went back to change names and they would not do it till EAD or GC  Your latest immigration  document has to have your married name in this case  your I94 before they will change it ( or passport). So you have to wait  for EAD or GC. But some couples have been able to change their name. It depends on the SSA clerk and the SSA office.

Yes that's what the clerk said, just couldn't remember exactly. He said I could change if I wanted to, he just didn't recommend it, so I waited.

Yes got it without any problems in 3 weeks!

Had to go back to change it after getting married and this time wait was longer. After not getting anything in 4 weeks I called SS office and found out that card was sent back to SS office because my name wasn't on our mailbox. The lady on the phone said some postmen do that. They sent it back to me and I got it in a week after calling them

Did you actually change your name on the SS card after getting married? I went to do it too but the guy adviced me not to, until I get my EAD card, because it could complicate the paperwork. Not sure how though, something about different names in systems..?

I believe you should get your notice next week. I never received any texts or email from USCIS but I got all NOA today. My package was received 4th of October. Did they cash your check yet?

Thanks for the info. I'm just surprised how long the NOA is taking this time around that's all. 😅 We sent a cashier's check so it was taken out of the bank account immediately, so I'm not sure if they've cashed it.
