Kiolas got a reaction from Mike E in N-400 denied after USCIS discovered withdrawal of I-129F years later
Hey guys! A quick update. The citizenship was denied, even after appeal.

Basically, I was never going to become a US citizen. To my understanding I have 2 options: 1) to somehow cancel the Green Card and apply from scratch for a new one; 2) just to remain Green Cars holder and do nothing.

I was offered a job and returned back to my home country. Me and my wife are no longer together💔.

To someone who has similar situation, plz do not go through the process after I-129F withdrawal. You need to do everything all over again and not to rely that later on it will make a sense somehow.

    God bless you all! 🙏❤

    Hi @SandyKay!
I'd like to correct my previous post. So you have to only wait 30 days from the time USCIS received your package (not from the time they sent you text!). Go to:
    https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do
and select "Did not receive notice by mail".

Therefore, you can file e-Request now!
I have submitted e-Request and 12 days later received e-mail that they would send NOA via mail within 30 days of their e-mail.

    I hope this helps!

@SandyKay Hello, I totally understand your frustration with a long processing time. I am in the same boat as you are. I also did not receive e-mail notification, only text message AND my receipt number is not recognized on the USCIS web-site, when I input the number into "Check Case Status" section.

However, when I logged in https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ I was able to add the case number and it does recognize the case number. It says: "We received your case. You do not have to do anything at this time. We will let you know if we need anything else from you as we continue to review your case."

In addition, I heard on this forum that it takes some time to receive NOA in the mail due to backlog. I am suggesting to wait a reasonable amount of time (around 45 days from when you got text message) and then go to https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do and complete section "Did not receive notice by mail".

[This is a repeat post from another Topic]

You can see my dates in my Timeline.

I had my interview yesterday at 26 Federal Plaza NYC where the Brooklyn office is located (8th floor).  My appointment was for 7:15 AM and I joined the queue to enter the building at 6:35 AM.   They don't open the doors until 7:00 AM and by that time there were quite a lot of people waiting.  I went to 8th Floor Room 8-100 as noted on my letter and they stamped my letter, gave me a ticket, and told me to go to another room that I had passed just near the elevator. I then waited in another queue and when served they took my letter and told me to wait.

I was called at 7:35 AM and it did not take long to be interviewed.  She asked for my passport, green card and other photo ID (drivers licence) and marriage and divorce papers.  She did not ask for any other material. She took a photo and fingerprints. She asked me 6 questions. She got me to read a sentence displayed on a tablet device. I had to write a sentence on the tablet device. She told me I passed. She went thru my application and corrected a couple of minor errors.  She then asked me all those final questions at the end of the application like would you bear arms, are you a member of a terrorist organization etc.  She then displayed my application corrections on the tablet and I signed the changes. She then displayed those final questions on the tablet and I signed that too.   Then she printed a form Naturalization Interview Results (N-653) that said I had passed the test and my application was approved. She said I'd get an oath letter in the mail. Then I left. I noticed on my way out the queue to enter the building was very short. People were walking straight into the security screening.

Today MyUSCIS was updated with the results.

[FYI the 26 Federal Plaza entrance is temporarily around the side in Worth Street just past the Employee entrance. They have a big sign out front to say so but it was kind of a surprise at 6:30 in the morning. ]

I just came back from India. Everyone at the Delhi airport was aware of extension letter. And I landed at Chicago ohare. When I scanned my green card it immediately said its expired and I asked the person what to do next? She told me go straight ahead to permanent resident line. I showed my expired green card and extension letter to CBP officer, he asked how long I was in India? And took me to secondary inspection. Within 15 min I was asked I am good to go. It was painless experience. Btw I took Air India which direct flight from Delhi to Chicago.

    Interview
On Monday December 3, we received notice through the online USCIS system that our interview was scheduled. The date of the interview did not appear in the USCIS system until the following day. On January 10, we had the interview. Our appointment was for 7:15 AM. We arrived at 26 Federal Plaza around 6:55 AM, and there was a line already because security doesn't start letting people in until 7 AM. At 7 AM, the line started moving. It's airport style security, and we had to take off our shoes. We arrived upstairs to the 8th Floor, which houses the Brooklyn Field Office (even though 26 Federal Plaza is in Manhattan), around 7:10 and stood in line at the window. When we got to the front, they took our interview notice and stamped it with the time, which was then 7:18 AM. They gave us a number, P-10. The first person was called at 7:30 AM. By 8 AM, only two people had been called, and the waiting room was half-full. Around 8:10 they started calling more people. One guy was told that his interviewer wasn't there yet, even though his appointment time had passed. They called our number at 8:40 AM. My husband went in, and was interviewed for about 40 minutes. The interview just focused on confirming the answers on the N-400 application. It was uneventful. We had moved since the filing, and they asked for proof of the new address, which we had. The interviewer told him he was approved and to sit in the waiting room and wait for a letter. He came out at 9:20.  At 9:35 AM, back in the waiting room, he was called to the window again and given a letter with a swear in date of January 24, 2018. He could not do it on that date because he had a very important work event, so we asked them to reschedule it.  They said okay, but they did not give us the new date right away.  About two or three weeks later, we got a notification through the system that the oath had been scheduled for February 8. We only had about ten days notice.

    Oath Ceremony
February 8:  The notice said 8:30, but we weren't sure how security would be so we went early and got there around 7:30.  The courtroom wasn't open yet.  Around 8 am, they opened the courtroom and started letting people in, but only those who were taking the oath were permitted to go in.  Family members had to go to the cafeteria upstairs.  My husband said it was a lot of just sitting around waiting while the USCIS officials took everyone's greencard and verified the details on the naturalization certificates.  We heard they might show a video of the prez, but they didn't.  I was upstairs, and there is a TV so you can see a little bit of what's happening in the courtroom.  You can get coffee and food there too.  At 11 am, someone came up to the cafeteria and told the family members that we could go back to the courtroom, they were about to take the oath.  Then a judge came in, everyone took the oath, and the judge gave a nice little speech about how immigrants make the country better.  We were out around noon. Then we went to celebrate!

    Passport
My husband has to travel a lot for work, and in fact had to travel the day after he took the oath.  So we had to get him a US passport in a hurry. After we got the notification of the oath date, we made an appointment for an expedited passport at the passport agency through this website https://passportappointment.travel.state.gov/ for the afternoon after the oath.  The ceremony ended around noon, and the appointment was for 2 pm.  The NY office is at 376 Hudson Street. He brought his new citizen certificate and proof that he had to travel the next day, and his checkbook.  He gave them the paperwork, and they said come back at 5 pm, the passport will be ready.  He went back at 5, and got the passport a few minutes later.  It was super easy.  It costs $60 extra to expedite it in this manner.

    Thank you, will do that!

Yeah, I'm trying my best. We had a lot going on with very sick parents, him having a bad accident on duty, change of command. It's always something new, so most of the issues we/I have to deal with regarding immigration get pushed back. I had a breakdown where I explained to him that I can't do research on things I don't know about. He is more of the "it is what it is" type of person whereas I am more nagging and keep asking questions when I know I am getting wrong information. He has gotten better though. 😏

Anyway, sorry for the vent and thanks for your help!

she got the interview notice 12 months after she filed, then after 13th months for interview, then Oath Ceremony after 1 week from her interview. so technically 13 months.

So I guess, you have to wait 2 more months or less before you will get the interview notice.

Congrats on getting your interview @Lemon23 , at around 8 months for the letter and 9 months for the interview you are one of the faster in NYC in recent periods based on the data on here.  Hope this is a positive sign of things improving...

Another interesting thing I noticed, on My Account the estimated wait time for case completion and underneath biometrics completed was always the same since biometrics in August last year.  However now it says 2 months for completion and 28 days under biometrics (presumably the latter is supposed to indicate when the next step is supposed to happen).

I realize these estimates are almost worthless but still thought it was interesting that this change happened.

All of the interview were scheduled at Federal Plaza location, but the Oath Ceremony is actually based on what Borough you live.
The Oath Ceremony of my friend next week is at Cadman Plaza which is in Brooklyn, because she's from Brooklyn.

So I just traveled overseas with an extension letter and I figure I'd share my experience if some of you are about to travel.
I traveled from O'Hare (Chicago) to Brussels (Europe).

To my big surprise, everyone from flight attendant to border agents were very familiar with the letter.
I didn't need to explain my situation, and they knew right away what it was.

The only thing I couldn't do was to check in online before my flight because of the expired date of the green card.
When I landed in Chicago, I couldn't register on the automatic kiosks and was guided to an officer.

He asked if I was removing the conditions of my green card, wrote down the new expiration date of my green card and asked me to wait for a higher grade officer.
I had to wait in secondary inspection for maybe 2 minutes and the agent gave me my document back and told me everything looks good and that I was good to go.

Border patrol seem very familiar with the extension letter and make no fuss about it.
Good luck for the ones traveling soon!

    Hello guys,

I got my oath ceremony at cadman plaza today, I'm officially USC!!

It wasn't that long, I got there at 7:30am (appointment was at 8:30am) and got out at 11:15am. As someone already mentioned, I recommend that you get there early so you can be seated on the first rows with  cushioned chairs with arm rest (instead of the long hardwood benches), they're really comfortable. We were around 150 in the room, so it was not completely full and family members were invited in towards the end to attend the pledge to flag.

As a piece of advice to y'all, please be patient throughout the whole process. I know it can be long but it's definitely worth it!

    Good luck.

Questions: who becomes president if the president can no longer serve, who is my house representative, what is one of the longest rivers, what is the capital of Colorado, name of the anthem, who lived in America before the Europeans arrived.

    Documents: nothing

She asked me when I traveled outside the USA for the last time but I couldn't recall it immediately. Wanted to check my papers but she said that if it wasn't written on a post-it I shouldn't bother...
