    Hi everyone,

I am very worried right now so I figured I would ask around a bit. I had my interview last tuesday (23rd April) in Frankfurt. Everything went pretty well, they kept my passport and said the only thing missing is my fianceés tax transcript of 2018. So he gave me a white 221g form, writing tax transcript 2018 on there and gave me the email adress to send it to.

Said and done, I sent them it the same day - I later realized what my fianceé sent me was actually her 2018 tax return, not the tax transcript. However, they said they received the return and the consular officer is reviewing it and they will let me know if that's enough or if they still need the tax transcript or anything else.

As of today, 2nd May, the CEAC status still shows Administrative Processing, last updated on tuesday, 30th april. I am very worried this will take a while, mostly because the flight is already booked (I booked it after the interview since all seemed well and it seemed like this would be a quick process). Has anyone made any experiences with how long it takes Frankfurt to look over a single document sent after the interview? So far they haven't gotten back to me to request anything else, which I assume is good news, but still - I am worried this will take a very long time. Any experiences? Thank you!

Hi.  There is nothing more you can do at this point until they complete the AP.  Here on VJ, we always suggest that you don't schedule your flight until after you have gotten the actual visa in your hand.  Best wished.

They will still send a copy to you. We had a lawyer from the very beginning of this process and I still got an e-mail and a letter from NVC with case number and invoice number. And you are right! You will be able to do it faster. We made a mistake hiring one. Now we are delayed because of a simple instruction she did not follow.

It will be okay.  Many of us didn't know what we were doing from the very beginning of our journey.  I can personally tell you that all the information you need is here on the various VJ forums.  It just takes a little time to get the answers you need.  When you need help or don't understand something, there is always someone who has gone through this & will assist you.  Honestly, I never heard of K1 visa before I started this process.  All the info I got was from VJ members who were willing to guide me.  You can complete the remainder of your journey by yourself with help from other members.  Wishing you a speedy journey.

    Hello,

i am currently waiting to hear something from uscis after sending off RFE response. When 130 is approved 🤞🏼 I am going at this alone without my Lawyer. It’s been nothing but delays in getting things done. I can go quicker alone. I’ve heard that once the 130 is approved and gets routed to NVC, they send case number directly to lawyer. How do I get them to send to me since Lawyer will not be representing me at that point?

    Thank you!

Hi.  It's your case, so feel free to contact NVC to get your case & invoice ID#'s.  Wait a couple of weeks after you have been approved.  Best wishes.

  4. Hi VJ family.  My fiance went for his interview early this morning, at the Dakar embassy & was approved.  I will post his experience in a couple of days.  I couldn't have gotten this far without some special, very knowledgable people.  I didn't sleep last night because my stress level was so hight, however, I had to take a minute & thank a few special people.  Without your help, we would not have gotten this far.  Thank you Nablune5 for always encouraging me, thank you, K1 Senegalese fellows, for your support, thank you Sandford010 for coming to my rescue when I needed it & no one else responded to my concerns.  Most of all, thank you, Greenbaum, for providing us with updated, correct information.  You always help, no matter how silly we think the question or concern is.  Thank you for your devotion to those of us on this stressful journey.  Please thank your wife for allowing you time to help us.  Ms. Nina, there is no way I can forget to thank you.  In my darkest time, you managed to lift up my spirit.  I thank you also.  For those still waiting, have faith in yourself &  continue to be patient as you move forward in the process.  Much success to all of you..............

  5. Hello my VJ family.  This is a note to let you know that my fiance went for his interview this morning in Dakar Senegal embassy.  He was the 2nd person to be interviewed & was approved.  I didn't sleep last night & he is on his way back to the Gambia.  It's a long trip back for him.  We are both tired, so I am going to take a couple of days to reminisce & celebrate this joyful day for us.  I will share all the information about his experience & hopefully it will help prepare those of you who will be going through Dakar embassy.  I have to give thanks to so many of you who encouraged me when I was stressed out & provided me with the correct information to complete this part of the process.  Here are only a few people who came to my rescue when I needed it.  I need to apologize if I am not able to remember everyone & also I am tired from not sleeping.  Thank you Nablune5 for your thoughts & prayers, thank you K1 Senegalese Fellows for your encouragement, thank you Sanford010 for always responding to the concerns I had.  Greenbaum, there is so much I am thankful for with you.  If it were not for the valuable information you post for everyone, there is no way I could have survived.  The information you post is up to date & you make sure that it's accurate.  Words cannot express my gratitude.  Thank you & many blessings to everyone  I will return soon to share my fiance's experience.  Good luck to those who are still waiting.  Your time will come.

Hey peeps, I'm hoping one of you fine folk will be able to advise me.

When I submitted my I-129f along with it I sent my divorce decree from my previous marriage on the extract it states the court, the date, court ref, persuer name and address, defenders name and address, date of marriage, place of marriage, the sheriff granted the decree, the extract is dated and signed by the sheriff's clerk depute and has the stamp of the sheriff court on it.

However on my RFE it states this as being insufficient and asks me to " submit a legible copy of the final divorce decree signed by a judge or magistrate that shows proof of
filing, that terminated the prior marriage"

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what else I can do or show to overcome this hurdle, any one had any experience of this before?!

Hi.  You need all pages of your divorce decree, signed by a judge.  I don't believe a sheriff is authorized.  Good luck.

For those of you who have been following my Visa Journey, keeping me in your prayers, & offering me words of encouragement; I just want to say THANK YOU. Especially the Haitian K1 Visa thread. I finally got the chance to see this wonderful update this morning:301F40F6-B783-455C-B113-861AA81F60CA.jpeg.e38f3fcaa938ee55b2ed3c7cdfecbcd4.jpeg

imageproxy.php?img=&key=ea9668e88603f7d4My struggles with my visa journey are available to you in my previous posts on my page, but I would like to update everyone on how it concluded to issued.

After following up with my congressperson around mid March to make a 2nd congressional inquiry, the embassy responded in 2 days and informed the congress to tell my fiancé to complete a new medical. The embassy let us know that they will be sending him another 221g along with his passport in order to complete the new medical and for him to send everything back through DHL when completed. This was on March 20th, it took my fiancé about a week and a half to complete his medical and send everything in. Embassy received it on April 2nd and updated my case on the 2nd, the 11th and the 18th is when my visa case status finally went from immigrant visa to non-immigrant visa. This morning it changed to issued. I am

    so grateful and crying tears of joy because I finally get to be reunited with my loved one and this part of my visajourney is finally done! Now to worry about POE and AOS! At least my fiancé and I can do that together. Here is an quick recap of my time line;

9/19/2018- Interview went well but placed on AP due to embassy wanting to verify/confirm divorce info. I sent email asking them what do they need, if anything.

9/20/2018- Embassy replied to my email asking for “submit confirmation of divorce to the national archives”. Didn’t really know what this meant since we provided them with our national archive divorce forms already, but we gathered the judgement of divorce and the newspaper announcement (customary of Haiti) of his divorce from his divorce lawyer since that’s all we have left to possibly give them to confirm the divorce.

10/9/2018- Additional divorce documents & passport sent through DHL

    10/11/2018- Embassy received docs/passport.

11/5/2018- my case had updated about 4-5 times in between these dates. 2 of the updates due to emails I sent the embassy and them responding. The date of the 5th is the last time the embassy ever updated my case up until I reached out to my congressman a month later.

12/5/2018- reached out to my congressman and they made a congressional inquiry.

01/04/2019 (Took a whole month!)- Embassy replies to congressional inquiry stating case documents are under review & due to security situations in Haiti they can’t give an estimated date of completion. Congressman tells me to follow up on or around March 20th. 60 more days! 😩

03/18/2019- Followed up with congressional inquiry

03/20/2019- embassy replies asking for new medical

04/02/2019- new medical received by embassy

04/18/2019- Visa status went from immigrant to non immigrant with new case creation date

    04/22/2019- Visa Issued!

It took me 7 months in AP from interview date to finally receive my visa.

I started this visa journey 2 years ago on December 29th, 2017 when I sent my K1 packet in to USCIS. I know we have a long way to go still but I’m so happy we’ve finally concluded this part of my journey. Thank you lord! 👏🏿🙏🏿🤗

Congrats!  So very happy for you.  My best wishes for a great life together.  Many blessings.

What evidence of meeting in the past 2 years can I bring? Are Facebook WhatsApp or Google fotos screen shot OK?

Hi.  Social media chats, audio/video don't really prove the two of you meeting within 2 years of filing.  You need concrete proof such your stamped visa on your passport for the country you met your fiance, receipt of payment to the airline, your reservation which will also show your seat#.  Did you get engaged while you were visiting & can you show a receipt or anything that shows where the two of you were?  Pictures are okay, but be careful what kind they are.  Don't make it look as though you got married.  These are just a few little things to consider.  Good luck in your journey.

Hello, I’ve been looking more into this whole process this morning. I’m currently just starting the process, I’m finishing the I-129F and haven’t sent anything off yet. However, I have discovered that the I-134 will need to be filled by myself and my mother who will be the joint sponsor, even though I’m unemployed, and taken to the London embassy by my partner way down the road. My mother supports me financially and will be supporting my partner as well, so she can prove this in her I-134, but I won’t be able to put anything down. Will this look terrible even if my mother is supporting her? I’m sure it would look better if I was employed, but first off, I just don’t need to work. I’m supported by my mother, and would rather (like everyone else) spend my time actually with my partner if I don’t need to be employed because I have enough support and savings from my family. How would my partner go about explaining this to the embassy if they ask why I haven’t been employed? Would she say in so many words what I just said, and would that be acceptable? I assume I could submit some kind of proof of my savings along with proof of my mother’s support for my partner?

Hi.  I don't know how your beneficiary's country will view your financial situation.  The good thing is you have a co-sponsor for the K-1 visa.  I cannot judge you on not choosing to work.  I just wanted to point out that from everything I am reading here on VJ, if your beneficiary gets approved by the embassy consular, you get married in the US, you have to file for AOS after getting married.  You will have to prove that you meet the financial guidelines, which is higher than when applying for K-1.  Will you have sufficient income by that time?  Best wishes.

  10. Hi everyone.  I was just wondering does anyone here know if after being approved at the K-1 interview, can Dakar mail your passport with visa through DHL or must you pick it up at the embassy?  My fiance lives very far from Dakar embassy, in a different country.  From reading the various forums, those who get approved are usually asked to return the next week, unless under AP.  Is it okay for my fiance to request mailing his passport with visa by DHL to the country he lives in?  Thank you for any info you can provide.

    I should have added

there are a lot of comments here and a lot of good advise

but no one here is saying "don't quit"

most of Americans came from other countries / i have one Iroquois Indian (that is a US tribe ) grandparent,  the other 3 came from Finland, Germany and UK

I wouldn't be me if they hadn't immigrated

    this is the American dream

    nothing wrong with it

nothing wrong with marring an American if you have found the right person

long road ahead if you follow thru with the process

a visa is never guaranteed  it is a privilege

if you are granted a visa,  thru marriage,  honor your wife and the US

and work hard here to have the "american dream" make your life what you hope it can be

Perfect!  Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.  I am from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who is now an American.  It was a challenging journey for me also.  Thank God that this country will give people an opportunity to migrate here & enjoy the American dream through hard work, education, & perseverance.  There is no other country like it.  To anyone reading this, don't give up if you are sincere & not coming here for a fraudulent reason.  Once in a while, someone will say things that I wish I knew how to express.  You summed it for me.  Thank you & I wish you the very best.  Blessing.

What are you basing the success on?  I wish the VJ timeline was accurate because, if it was, I would have popped my champagne bottle by now.

I haven't taken any serious polls but at least the general responses I have gotten from people I've asked suggests maybe 1/3 accuracy.  Anecdotal evidence indeed but a good portion of that 1/3 weren't sure if it was VJ's great forecasting or just plain coincidence.  Most people (including me) think you should take those dates in your timeline with a grain of salt.

It would help if the powers-that-be here at VJ could explain the calculus used to determine those dates for each person.

Honestly, the best thing to do is to relax until USCIS has completed what they are doing & hopefully you will get an answer soon.  At the beginning of our journey, my stress level was high.  I started to relax more as I was finding out that I wasn't alone.  Communicating with VJ members helped me.  That's why I still have some sanity left.

I have it already but I don't understand what the big yahoo is about Informed Delivery and letters from the uscis.  From what I can see it's of minimal benefit.  You'll find out circa 7:30 am THAT DAY you're getting something from the uscis (could be an approval, could be something else).  You'll find out for sure what it is when you get home from work.  So what does it buy you?  Around 8 hours?

If you snap a picture of the outside of the envelope or tell them what you can see from looking at the outside, many of these smart VJ members know what the approval letter looks like before you open it, lol.

even after the got her visa in her passport ?

Hi.  Please read the info on K-1 Visa.  When you apply for a K-1 visa, by submitting the I-129F documents, you are requesting approval from the US government to allow someone from another country to enter the US for the sole purpose of marrying you.  If you do anything different, you may have problems.  Good luck to both of you.

  15. 32 minutes ago, QueenieBonds said:

That is good to hear. Thank you for that info and well wishes. I was surprised to read in this thread that the website wasn’t updated before the mail NOA2 arrived for at least one VJ user. This is truly the thread I’ve been searching for

Yup!  They don't always update & no one really understands why.  The one thing you can depend on is USPS, when it's time, lol.   I hope you signed up for USPS informed delivery. This is a stressful journey & it takes a lot of patience.  I am glad you found our forum helpful.  There are many knowledgable members here who can offer you help when you have a question or don't understand something.  Hang in there.

  16. 4 minutes ago, QueenieBonds said:

Mine is past due.  Our petition was received on December 5, 2018.  VJ  currently predicts an April 7 2019 NOA2. We have previous marriages and a child in our application so I’m not sure if that slows it down a bit or not. The timeline given on here is vastly different from the USCIS website.

Hi.  I don't believe having children or previous marriages matter too much, as long as you sent them all the pages from your divorce decree.  A lot has to do with the person who will be handling your package.  Also, how fast your background checks can be completed, verifications of documents you provided, & other things that they have to check for.  Good luck on your journey & may you have a speedy one.  I would say for a lot of us, the VJ timeline that is generated here is usually pretty close, if no RFE's are involved.  It does change as you get closer to your time to hear something from them.

I can imagine how tough that would be, dealing with an embassy that has those issues - I wish you and your fiance all the best and all the hugs your way! Mine will be taking place in Auckland, New Zealand. I live down in Wellington so it'll be a bit of a trip up there, but worth it in the end. It's hard to try and get a hold on the anxiety (especially when it's a combo of anxiety and autism), it can really knock you on your backside.

Thank you.  Hang in there.  When it's time to travel to Auckland, I suggest you leave a day early.  That will help with the anxiety of going so far.  My fiance has a long way to go also & plans on leaving Monday evening.  He will have his medical next week & the week after that, he will have his interview in Dakar Senegal.  I can tell he is anxious, but will not admit it.  I feel your pain & we are all wishing you the best.  I know you will do just fine.  When you feel anxious, remember the reason you are going through all this, to be with the one you love.  The stress is only temporary.  Drink a glass of red wine & keep a smile on your face 😁.  Hugs................

First off I apologise of I come off as rambly, my anxiety is through the roof right now thanks to a combo of a severe anxiety disorder and autism. And also if I'm posting this incorrectly - I've never posted here before. I'm submitting my interview letter tomorrow, but I'm super worried I'll have done it too late because I've worried so much about making sure I have everything.

I had my medical exam last month on the 21st, and I'm just getting around to sending the letter tomorrow. I'm so scared that I'll have wasted time, which I feel like I definitely have in arranging the interview. I had an unpleasant experience with my medical examinor making me uncomfortable and I've had to wait and get some extra paperwork to forward to them to boot (All sorted now though) I'm immigrating from NZ to the US, and I have no clue how long getting an interview takes since I can't find a solid source that tells me a rough estimate.

I feel completely insane, and I don't blame you if you read this and think so too. I miss my man so much, and I hate coming to him constantly over my worries because in my head I know there's nothing I can do and I'm doing my best where I can, but the anxiety is crippling some days. Today is one of those days. Am I worrying too much? Is there anything to worry about, or am I just driving myself mad with worry?

Any support, or advice or just an internet hug would be appreciate it.

Thank you for sharing your feelings with us.  You are not alone in this stressful journey.  I want to encourage you to do the best you can to calm yourself down.  I know it's difficult.  You would be surprised to know that many of us here on VJ experience some of the same anxieties.  I don't know anything about where your interview will take place.  I can only reassure you that at the end of your journey, things will work out.  I believe in God & things always work out the way it was intended.  My fiance is getting ready for his interview in 2 weeks, in an extremely difficult embassy.  They deal with high fraud countries.  I already have a plan B in place just in case things don't work out.  That is all we can do.  Take one day at a time & plan for unforeseen things that may happen.  Sending you a special hug.  My best wishes to you for a speedy journey.

So my (beneficary) fiance and I arrived at our new home two days ago.  The anxiety and fear of the interview is over.   The wait for approval and papers is postponed until the next steps after the wedding.  I go back to work, and now she...

Is thousands of miles away from everything familiar to her.  Her family, friends, and everything she's ever known.  Everything here is foreign to her.  She's excited for the future, but also sad for what she's left behind.  Who out there knows the mixture  of emotions, hope and fear, happiness and sadness?  Who in the world could she share these feelings with that could relate or understand?  How weird is it that there is no one to pump your gas or check your oil?  Where are the car guards?  Why aren't there bars on the windows?

I'm being extra and dramatic, I know.  But there are so many great people I've chatted with here.  I think it would be great to start a What'sApp group for those who have come to the states on a K1 visa from South Africa.

If the only shared experience is coming to the states from South Africa on a K1 visa, then that's a pretty big thing that is the basis for support, ideas, recipes, shopping, tips, recommendations, or just witty banter that only South Africans can understand. In fact, I don't need to be part of it.  I just think it could be good for my fiance and good for others who have went through this life altering process.

    Anyone?

    8

Thank you for sharing with us.  I totally understand how she must be feeling.  I am Congolese, from the Democratic Republic of Congo.  I am now a US citizen.  When I first got to the US, things were very strange to me.  To top it off, I could not speak English.  I only knew a few words such as hot, cold, &, etc.  I carried a dictionary with me everywhere to help me understand some of the English words people were saying.  My first meal in the states was at the airport, immediately after the airplane landed.  I was told it was a hot dog.  I was so scared because I thought I was being offered a spicy part of a 4 legged animal that we keep as pets, to eat as my first meal.  Imagine how I must have felt.  I cried for days.  That was only the beginning of the different experiences I had.  Some were good & some not always positive.  Some people even teased me about my accent after I had learned the English language.  Ultimately as people got to know more about me & the culture I come from, I had no problem adjusting to my new life.  Friends I met along the way helped me to grow as a new American citizen & we learned from each other.  It takes time & patience.

Please let her know that although she cannot see it now, things are going to be okay.  I love this country & I have a feeling that after meeting new friends, getting to know her environment, & the American culture, she will enjoy living in the US also.  Look at this as a new, exciting adventure that many people from all over the world would love to experience.  She is blessed being with a man who loves her & will be introducing her to a whole new world.  Like myself, she will not miss the bars on windows, guards to protect the compounds & communities, &, etc.  Please give her a hug from me & I welcome her to the US.  Many blessings to both of you as you start your new life together.

    Hello,

I only recently realized my lawyer submitted forms G-325A with a couple minor date errors and WITHOUT our signatures.

I already received an RFE and they didn't mention anything about the missing signatures in the G-235A.

My lawyer says I should not worry about it and not touch it, since the G-325A is not required anymore, so USCIS probably didn't even look at it.

I haven't responded to the RFE yet and I thought I could send a corrected G325A but when looking at the forums here, please seem to recommend that if you didn't get an RFE or something requesting updates to the G-325A, not to do anything.

What is the recommendation in my case?

Hi.  Just respond to the RFE  & nothing more.  This is why many of us here on VJ recommend people should try to do their own paperwork unless it's going to be a difficult case.  Some lawyers take cases for the money & not because they have knowledge in immigration law.  Good luck on your journey.
