Thank You so much!! I appreciate all your answers, so very helpful. I think the husband and I are going to do this without the help of a lawyer and if we need help we can go to this forum!!

Great!  My experience has been that I was able to get better, straightforward answers from VJ members than any lawyer could have provided.  The  best part is "free information" & that means a lot.  Many of the members here have already gone through the process & continue to assist those who need help.  My best wishes to you in your journey.

    Hey guy,

Have another problem here, not sure if it's a big deal, I sent a letter to my Fiancé at the US (stating I will marry her within 90 days), but I place my full name (first, middle last name) in the body of the letter and also on top of the letter.  I signed my name at the bottom but it only has my first and last name.

So will it affect it and get it denied?

    Nope.

Thanks for your quick reply. However, the link says reply to a topic. How do I post a new topic on the Nigerian forum only. Thanks

Look on the left hand side on the top of this page, click on forum.  Once you get there, look for the section that says "general discussion" & you will see "regional discussion.  Under that go to Africa: sub-Saharan & click on that.  There are many topics on Nigeria there.

Thanks a million for detailed reply. Financial support isn’t a problem thank God. I make more than the required per my household. I am just worried about the number of visit due to availability since I am starting a new job. I am hoping I can get one week to come for another visit after 6 months of starting the job.

You are very welcome.  The more visits, the better for the two of you.  I know this is a challenging journey for all of us.  Good luck.

Hello Everyone, this is my first time here but I have been reading so much on how to file a K1 Visa. Both my fiancé and I are Nigerians. I am the petitioner. I have a couple of questions.

    We have known each other for 3 years, in a relationship for 10 months and engaged for about 2 months. I am presently in Nigeria to visit him for a 10 days visit. Taking time off work can be very difficult. I know the required one visit prior to filling. I am not sure if it will be a problem if I am not able to make another visit soon enough. My questions are;

Will one visit be okay plus lots of call and message logs(WhatsApp), loys of pictures on this trip, itineraries our trip to Abuja together, hotel receipts, pictures of us, me and him.

I am switching jobs jobs in May 2019, should I wait to switch jobs or I can file with my present job even though I will have about a month left with them. It will take some time to accrue vacation time at the new job so traveling down soon isn’t so visible. He has been denied student visa once 😫

I will be moving to another address due to job change. Would it be wise to wait until I change address to file. Or file as we are both excited. It’s so painful to spend ten days and then leave each other again.

I didn't get to meet his family, they leave far from where he lives. So couldn’t visit them. I met a friend of his, and 2 of my friends in the same. We are both very private people. Very very few friends. All my siblings leave in the US, he met my sister in-law shortly before I came to Nigeria. My father is late and my mom and I aren’t close so I keep her out of my relationship especially if I want the best for myself. Sadly so!!

He is 27 and I am 40, we are both not worried about the age gap but could this be a problem when filling?

Thanks and I am looking forward to reading replies..

Welcome to the forum.  You will find a lot of good information here, from people who have a vast amount of knowledge.  My fiancé is Nigerian also, however resides in the Gambia.  The embassy he will be interviewing at is difficult & Lagos is just as difficult, if not more.  You have the same cultural background, so that is a plus for you.  The requirement is to meet face to face within 2 years of filing, but you have to remember that Nigeria is a high fraud country.  You must prove to the consular that you are in a bona fide relationship & all the other proof you spoke about.  The age gap in a high fraud country is considered a red flag, if the woman is the older one.  As you know in the Nigerian culture, it's normal for the man to be older.  If I understand you correctly, you are the petitioner (female) is the older one.  My dear, I can tell you if that is the case, you need to visit more than one time.  As far as you changing jobs, you don't have to wait to file or because you are moving.  Prior to his interview, you will need to show that you have sufficient income to sponsor him by completing the affidavit of support form & providing him with the needed financial documents.  You can update your new address online once you move.  I hope this helps a little bit.  I am sure others will contribute.  My best wishes to you.

We received a letter  with  an appointment in a week to have my fiance's biometrics taken. I have a  question:

    - I've researched and noticed that most of the letters like mine were received by I-130 filers. We filed the I-129F.  Is this normal?

    - I've also noticed that it's usually the non-US resident that normally has to go to the biometrics appointment. My fiance  the petitioner is a US citizen) and he is in the US..... just wanting to make sure this is all part of the I-129F process. I looked in the FAQs on Visajourney and it doesn't mention this in the process.

Although this is another step after 14 months waiting!!!! , I am happy to get this letter cause at least I know they are on top of our case!

I did read that it's not something that they usually request from the USC, but they have the right to ask for biometrics, like Ash. 1101 said.  I am almost certain it has to do with a concern they have about the petitioner.  I wish you the best in this journey.

  7. Hello everyone.  For those who have been waiting to schedule an interview at Dakar Embassy, please note that the calendar is finally open for scheduling.  Right now, they are only offering 2 days.  You can choose 4/16 or 4/18.  I wanted to pass this onto to you.  Good luck.

I did, but it's still not available.

To me, it's just easier to complete the document by hand.  Nothing says it must be typed online.  The good thing about hand writing it is that you can add little notes, if needed.  There is a page towards the back, don't remember the page #, where you can explain certain things if you need to.  Good luck.

Alright. So I kinda lost here then... how the medical appointment and CO appointment work? Another site or the consulate do this?

    Appreciate that!✌🏻

When you go to the site of the embassy where interview will be held, check to find out which physicians are listed.  You can only use one of them.  Make sure you have enough time between medical appointment & interview.  You can call the physician directly & not online.  For now, wait until you get your case#.

Alright! Today we got approved! 🥳🥳🥳NOA1 is NOV 30 ( I know you guys will ask me✌🏻) only 112 days (God is Good)...

We only have the online confirmation (NOA2).

Any body knows how much time they take to send the hard copy(NOA2)?

I know we just beat the USCIS phase. Now is NVC.

Can the DS-160 can be filed with the WAC# only or we will need the NVC#?

Medical and Embassy appointments are schedule thru the DS-160?

Is the interview for my fiancee will be in her natural language (Spanish-Guayaquil Ecuador Consulate)

    Thanks in advance💪🏻🏻💪🏻

Congrats!  You will need your case# prior to preparing for DS-160.  Medical & interview are not scheduled through DS-160.  At most embassies I have heard about, your fiancé can request an interpreter during his interview.  Best wishes.

The beneficiary's employment status is not a factor for K1 approval/denial.  So it doesn't matter if you're unemployed.  Focus on evidence that you are in a genuine relationship with your petitioner.

Oh, okay.  Now I get it.  Sorry I didn't get the whole picture.  The only income they are interested in is the petitioner's income.  So you are 100% correct Ate.  Sorry about that.

    Hey guys,

Got a quick question, once you file in the paper work and on the process you got laid off from work, will it affect the Visa process?

Or you currently got laid off before sending the paper work, will it still affect it?

Hi.  From everything I have been reading on various forums, you will need a co-sponsor.  The consular wants to make sure that your fiance will not be a public charge.  You must have sufficient income to support him in the US & if you don't have a job or enough money coming in to your household, you cannot support him.  Others may provide you with more info.  Good luck.

Yeah he tried to call the consulate today and there was no answer only recordings but I finally convinced him to just see one of the two doctors in Casablanca. Now we have to worry about weather there will be any available appointments. Someone on FB told me one of the doctors was all booked up for March and April. Why only have 2 consulate- authorized doctors for an entire country???

I don't know about other countries, unfortunately in many of the African countries, there are only up to 3 assigned to perform the medical for each embassy.

You are welcome.  Our case moved quickly, but unfortunately, all cases are different & move at a different pace.  I will pray for a speedy process for you.

Thanks for the info.so does it mean that since they already gave me nvc number their investigation process is completed and there’s no way for them to send it back to uscis? This is my second approval they told me to ignore the first approval since they reaffirmed it and sent it back to uscis thats why im worried.

I wish I had a more concrete answer for you.  Nothing is for sure when it comes to them.  You can only hope it will continue to move forward.   I know it's stressful.  Hang in there.  Let me know how things work out for you.

Hi i just got my nvc case number last week via phone. I also checked the status at ceac.com and its “at nvc”. What is the time frame to recieve the email from the nvc?and im just worried if by any chance do the nvc can still send my papers back to the uscis even we already got the case number?thanks alot.Godbless

Hi.  You will be getting a notice via USPS within 2-4 weeks or a little longer, but you might not get anything by email.  Time varies.  Be patient as you progress through this journey.  By the time you get your notice, your packet will hopefully be on it's way to the embassy.  Good luck.

My drivers license and social security card both have my maiden name but my passport I used when traveling to visit my fiancé was under my ex husbands last name even though we were divorced...so like should I not send pics of my passport to avoid any issues? Every other evidence I have is in my maiden name

    3

Yes, send the pages from your passport where it shows the visa stamp for the country you visited to see your fiance.  It proves you actually traveled there.  Also, include any airline receipts, paying for the trip, & of course pictures of the two of you & with friends, & the family members together.  If your birth certificate correctly matches your license & ss card, that's great.  Don't be afraid of sending in little side notes explaining anything that you think might create a red flag or RFE for you.  It's better that they understand everything than to leave questions in their minds about certain things.
