    Hi everyone

my status in the NVC for my case changed to ready since the 8 of August and i sent a e-mail to schedule my interview and they never answered! Today i got a e-mail from the embassy says “Thank you for your email. Please be advised that as soon as we receive your case form the National Visa Center, we will contact you with you interview date and time“

so I called them and they said we don’t have your case yet! And i was like so what is the ready status mean them in the NVC ! They said it means they are done from their job and we don’t have your physical Case.

I called the NVC they said we sent it and you have to call the embassy!

Anyone have a idea about what is going on?

18 days since my status changed to ready for now.

    thank you.

Hi.  Did you get your case number & completed the DS-160 form?  Once you pay visa fee,  you should be able to schedule your own interview online or by calling NVC.

Thank you for your concern. i was asked to submit pictures of her and me when growing up and also primary and secondary school registration form. i have submitted all that already. hoping and waiting for the response....just my concern is that i don't know if they have received because i have not heard from them since i submitted it.

I am so sorry you are going through this.  They should inform you of acceptance of what you submitted to them.  When you go to your status check, does anything show up?  Maybe if you continue emailing the embassy, they will respond.  No guarantee, of course.  So sorry 😥.

My passport was given back to me and the frustrating part is that I don't know if they have my documents since it has been updating date in AP even before I submitted.

I am sorry to hear they didn't keep your passport.  My husband went through Senegal embassy & not in Nigeria.  Senegal & Nigerian embassies are difficult.  Go to the Nigerian forum to see if you can get some good information from those who have gone through this experience.  Please keep me updated on how things are going for you.  Can you tell me the things that were requested from you?

Amen and Thank you so much for your encouragement.  I have a 17 years old daughter who is not going with me now but later after she finish school by next year God's grace.  Most of the additional documents requested for was because of her which I thought will be presented when applying for her going.  I know I did mention she will join me later when filing ds 160 form.  Though I have submitted what they requested.

I am surprised you were asked to submit documents for your daughter so soon.  I think you will be asked again when you are ready for her.  It's a confusing & frustrating journey.  It will be worth it at the end, so hang in there & pray a lot.  Although we are finished with the K1 part, we are now waiting for his working permit.  It's difficult for an African man who is used to working hard to be sitting at home😥.  I really feel your frustration.  Please take one day at a time & provide them with whatever is asked.  Blessings & best wishes to you.

Hi.  Things seems to be getting more challenging for Nigerians.  If you responded with all they requested, at some point, you will be updated.  My now husband is Nigerian, so I feel your pain.  It will be okay.  Keep yourself busy & hopefully soon you will get good news.

Yes, it's difficult waiting.  I am sorry.  Things will work out.  Hugs...

  6. Hi guys.  My husband & I have been looking for some answers on what kind of work he will be able to find once he is granted his working permit.  He is an electrician by trade back in his original country, Nigeria.  We are wondering at what point will he be able to go to school for electricians?  Any suggestions for a job will greatly be appreciated.  We are trying to plan in advance because he wants to go straight to work once he gets his permit.  Thank you.

Only the requirements, which are well-documented here on VJ.  Unlike the K-1 process, the AOS packet is 99% satisfying of formalities. Pay close attention to the required supporting documents for the i864 and birth/marriage certificates. Save your proof-of-relationship documentation for the GC interview, which will be after some months, as described in this thread.

Thank you so much for responding.  I appreciate the info.  Will keep our proof of relationship for the interview as you said.

A little history. He came to the US July of 2016 k1 visa we got married July 27th I was truly in love with him and he led me to believe that he was too, the reasons I now believe he only married me for gc are the following. He made excuses as to why he couldn't perform when it was time for intimacy, (he doesn't know what is wrong it never happened to him, no girl has had an issue with it why should I, maybe he needs to see a Dr or because he doesn't feel much of a man) then to his luck I fell ill and didn't need to give excuses for that, I had surgery may 2018 so then came the excuse as to why not sleep with me, (he didn't want to hurt me, months later it was the TV light bothers him, he snores and doesn't want to bother me) but all this time he showed he was loving and caring like I thought too good to be true type. come time to send his roc I started the petition in Feb 2019 which I sent, March 18 I get receipt letter he then was pushing for his sons petition which I was working on but hadn't sent because I needed a joint sponsor, he was under the impression that I sent it and all we are waiting on was permanent gc.. I started noticing him different in Feb he came telling me his wedding ring fell in sink while washing hands... Come April 18th he tells me that due to us not sleeping together we've distant ourselves therefore he started talking and seeing someone else for the last week, I come to find out it's been since Feb 2019 that he started talking to 3 women not just one ... If he wanted to be honest with me, why wait till I send the roc? That's all he did was wait for me to send the paperwork, mind you he tells me this one week before I was to have another surgery. He would also tell his son how he is sacrificing himself for him to have a better future and to wait for him (wait for him for what) ..Do I have something to fight for or will I waste my time? I really want an annulment rather than a divorce but will that have an effect? Everywhere I read it says just take it and move on... I just can't believe us as citizens don't have protection for this.

I feel your pain & I am very sorry this happened to you.  Intimacy is an important part of a marriage/relationship.  You are probably not compatible there & yes he may have used you to gain something.  Like everyone else is saying, move on.  People like him will get the same pain coming back to him at some point in his life.  You are probably too kind-hearted, blinded by your love for him.  You deserve better for yourself, someone who can love you unconditionally.  It hurts now, however, move on, allow yourself time to heal, & find a loving & caring person to be in your life.  Hugs to you................

My wife is a US citizen and will be petitioning for me to get the CR1 visa. Would anyone have any ideas on the processing timeframe for this visa from Dakar, Senegal?

Hello.  You have to get through the first step, getting your NOA2.  When filing for CR1, it takes longer.  The NVC will be the ones who will schedule your interview.  For that reason, it's a bit longer.  We filed K1 & once we were approved from USCIS, it went pretty quickly because we didn't have to wait to schedule the interview.  Once my fiance paid for his visa fee, there were available dates to choose from.  Dakar is one of the best when it comes to getting an interview scheduled, only for K1.  Spousal visas are not so fast.  I hope this helps a little bit.  My best wishes to you on your journey.

Hi, thank you for responding. I am older, my husband is younger.

Hello.  Ten years isn't so bad however, you need to prove a bona fide relationship/marriage.  My fiance went through Dakar embassy & was approved.  We also have an age gap.  He was asked a lot more questions, but in the end, it all worked out.  Yes, I would have to say that they are not the easiest embassy to deal with.  If you front loaded your packet with good proof, you shouldn't have a problem.  They do consider if you practice the same faith, is there a language barrier & so forth.  I wish you the best in your journey.

Please help me. I got refusal because my fiance didn't meet the requirements. He have assets and receiving monthly social security but they refused us saying i need to give them a tax returns yet we dont have it coz he is disabled . Can we appeal and have dad Co-sponsor us? Please help me i am a k1 visa applicant from Philippines. I feel so down I don't know what to do 😢

I forgot to ask you, did he get a denial or are they requesting him to provide income/financial documents?  It is my understanding that there is no appeal for a K1 visa denial.  If you could be more specific on what he was told or if he was given a request to turn in more proof, we can help you better.

Hi.  If he is retired on disability & getting social security each month, he gets a form that says "SSA-1099" which is a social security benefit statement.  If he also gets some kind of pension from his past job, he is probably given form 1099-R also.  All he has to do is provide copies of those to qualify & doesn't need a prepared income tax or transcript.  Also, he can get a letter, proof of income online for his ss disability amount that he gets each month & doesn't have to pay anything for it.  It's only a problem if he doesn't meet the 100% or 125% guidelines.  Don't feel too down about this.  I know the journey isn't easy, but be patient with yourself.  I wish you the best.

Today is 470 days of waiting. And our case status is changed

Notice Explaining USCIS Actions Was Mailed

On May 10, 2019, we began reviewing your Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), Receipt Number WAC. We mailed you a notice informing you of the action we intend to take on your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice and submit any requested materials. If you do not receive your notice by May 24, 2019, contact the USCIS Contact Center at www.uscis.gov/contactcenter. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Any ideas what does it mean?

Hi.  It appears that they were going to recommend denial, however, they will reconsider with more proof.  Domestic violence against anyone, especially a minor doesn't get excused easily.  Even when it is changed to a misdemeanor.  The good news is that I believe you will get an RFE to present more evidence.  Even with expunged cases, USCIS can get access to records that local government cannot.  If they ask you for a report & you are not able to get it, send them an explanation.  I wish you the best outcome.

Hi.  You have a while to go, however, be aware that Dakar is a difficult embassy.  Make sure you have enough good proofs of bona fide marriage & a solid relationship.  Good luck on your journey.

Hey guys. We got our letter (by email) from  Bosnia and Herzegovina consulate with instructions what to do next. I’ve filled DS-160 form, but now I can’t get my interview date, it says that they don't have any dates for interviews. Should I do medical, or what to do now?

    thank youu

Hi.   Be patient.  Schedule your medical after you know you have an interview date.  Medical cannot be too old.  Best wishes.

Hello!  I feel like everything has been pretty simple up until now and I am stressing!  We got the NVC email today that they approved and sent the petition to the embassy.  We completed the DS160 online.  What do we do now??

Since you have your case#, wait a few days & contact the embassy through email.  Provide your beneficiary's full name, your name, & case#.  Tell them you have been approved & was asking for further instructions.  You will need your confirmation page from DS-160 to pay the visa fee.  In our case, we received the bank account info from the embassy to pay the visa fee with further instructions.

Does anybody know how long medicals will expire. My fiancee did her medicals  and police report 3 months prior to her KI visa interview (interview in july). Would she have to repeat them because it is too far out?

Hi.  I don't know which country you are referring to, but as far as the police certificate goes, many expire within 3 months.  My fiance ended up getting another, more recent police certificate because it took a little longer to get the interview date he wanted.  The one he originally had gotten expired in 3 months.  Good luck.

Thank you for the response. Yeah, we tried to plan things beforehand, but I suppose I should have waited a bit with the flight. It is still 3 weeks out, which I thought was more than enough time, especially since the interview went very well and the consular officer said "Well, we just need this transcript, then we can issue the visa and after we looked over it, it will be there in 10 business days". Seemed very reassuring to me...

Unfortunately, we are at their mercy in this journey.  Your flight is 3 weeks from now & that might be cutting it kind of close.  Hang in there.  I hope you hear something soon.
