Perrrrrfect!! I am just waiting for this kind of confirmed information. Can you copy-paste your LETTER text indicating that you want to update your SS (mentioned in your post above), I just want to re-use same language (remove your personal info in that text). I have updated my notes here: https://tinyurl.com/myUSCNotes

Never too soon to prepare. Create an account with the USCIS, and get familiar with the N400 online application by filling it out (but not submitting it obviously). You mention you don't intend to travel however if you do, keep track of dates traveled on a excel spreadsheet. The biggest pain I have seen folk complain about is getting their IRS transcripts from before the preceding 3 years. So download them annually. If you get yourself into trouble (speeding, whatever) make sure you keep all records (fine payment etc). Between the time of LPR and my N400, I drove like I was "driving Miss Daisy". My kids say I still do...so what. If you already have past tickets, or infractions then use this time to collect that evidence. I had a speeding ticket from 2003 that I was able to get records for and submitted with my application in 2020. Excessive maybe? Yeah too right, I'm a stickler for detail and looked for anything that could derail my application.

@ImmiGeek has his own journey and preparation listed within his notes which you might find useful https://tinyurl.com/myUSCNotes

You do not need an attorney. Save your money for passport fees and for your first trip using your new passport.

How exactly is the sole custody order worded?  There have been issues if the custody order is for "physical" custody only (and there is no statement like "full legal custody") and the non-custodial parent maintains visitation rights.  If it grants sole "legal" custody, that should have been sufficient.

Today I have received my Original Naturalization Certificate intact. This concludes my Naturalization Journey.
SS Update: Sent passport card for this on the day of card arrival.
DMV update: My DL renewal is in few months, scheduled an appointment for that.
I will update the status of my SS updates in my signature as they progress.

Another person that I know has filed on 2/17, found online on DOS site yesterday. But the receipt date was 2/24 on the DOS site.
So, give few more days to find yours online but it may have a receipt date earlier than now.

I kept my other country passport next to me, filled exactly what is there for US Passport application.
Passport Card is more valuable as its not just an ID but its a FEDERAL ID (highest value of Identification across the world), you get it for just thirty bucks. Go for it while filing your US passport.

If you read the article, the majority of rights are the same including access to jobs, right to live in the US, can’t be deported (while a green card holder can be). Major difference is not being able to vote or run for elect office.

The state department website is one riddled with bluster and no bite.

You only have to use a USA passport to leave the USA when using an aircraft.  As anyone who travels by cruise ship knows, USA citizens routinely and without issue use a USA birth certificate to leave and  enter the USA each day in a cruise ship by the hundreds if not thousands.

You use your USA passport when you check in for your flight.  There are no penalties if USA citizens don’t present their USA passport to the airline.  It’s just against a law that has no penalties.  This law is broken by people with multiple citizenships each day, both exit and entrance.  However some times CBP does staff airline jetways and there if a USA citizen doesn’t have a USA passport, I presume the citizen would be denied boarding.

If you happen to have multiple citizenships, and another passport gives you an advantage over your USA passport to enter the country, such as giving you a visa waiver, then you also present your other passport.

The airlines send manifests to CBP for each exiting flight and thus CBP knows which passengers are USA citizens that used their USA passport.

When I travel to Canada, I present my USA passport at check in.  When I land in Canada, I present my Canadian passport to the immigration officer so that I my stay is not recorded as limited to 6 months.

On return I just present my USA passport to the airline, and then 5 minutes later to CBP at the preclearance desk.

If Canada had formal exit controls like the Schengen Area then I would present both passports to the airline, my Canadian passport to CBSA, and my USA passport to CBP.

And when u do get the new passports,

follow the instructions inside on page 5 it says:
Loss or theft :  The loss,  theft or destruction of a passport should be reported immediately to local police and to Passport Services Clasp Unit   -------------------or, if overseas to the nearest US embassy or consulate

Page 6:   # 4  Make 2 photocopies of the passport data page.  Carry one copy with you in a separate place from your passport and leave the other copy home with family/ friends along with a copy of your travel itinerary

doing this helps u get replacements at a US embassy

you need to follow the advice given to replace all passports paying the needed fee(s)
you can apply and pay the fee(s)  to your state for the replacement of the birth certificates when u return to the US
and not sure why anyone would take the Naturalization certificate on an international trip but u can pay to have that replaced also if u desire

    Hello, November 2020 Filers,

Just a quick message to say I finally got my N-400 interview scheduled. I am based in Maryland. I received an email from the no-reply USCIS email address, informing me an action on my case has been taken. The digital appointment notice was in the documents section of my online USCIS account. I am sure a paper letter is coming soon too.

The appointment is scheduled for the Baltimore Office, located on Koppers Street, on March 9th. I’ve been to this office 3 times: for I-751 biometrics and two I-751 stamps - with the most recent visit on December 15, 2021. I hope those of you based in the DMV area will receive your notices soon too.

Few words about my immigration history.

    July 1, 2017: entered USA on a marriage-based green card (CR1).
April 18, 2019: applied for removal of conditions on my green card (I-751).
April 22, 2019: received the standard receipt/extension letter for my green card (Notice of Action I-797).
July 3, 2019: I-751 is stuck on “Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview” step.
December 18, 2020: 1st InfoPass Appointment to get I-751 stamp in my passport.
February 4, 2020: I-751 is still stuck on “Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview” step.
November 15, 2020: applied for N-400 with my I-751 still pending.
February 1, 2021: USCIS letter notifying me my biometrics can be reused, and I don't need to appear to submit them again.
December 15, 2021: 2nd InfoPass Appointment to get another I-751 stamp in my passport.
February 1, 2022: received online notice for N-400 interview.

When I spoke to USCIS officer, who stamped my passport for I-751, they told me they are trying to make progress on N-400 applications, and hopefully I will hear from them soon. That was this December.

I assume it will be a combined interview for I-751 and N-400. My wife and I are intending to bring 4 years of tax returns, some bank statements, house title, and other documents proving our relationship to the interview. Let me know if you have other suggestions. Right now, I am re-revising my N-400 test questions, looking forward to March, and really hoping I would be lucky to have the Oath ceremony on the same day (my interview is around midday).

Finally, this is a wonderful community. My wife and I have been reading information shared here since the beginning of our journey in 2016. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your stories and suggestions. I am sure countless people in similar situations benefited from your experience and advice.

I will report back on my progress.

I would like to thank you for your keen analysis about this (my) interpretation.
    Baseline for my opinion was:
    1) The above i485 links that you have given(I think the same happens for N400 also, once the two systems are sync).
    2) Also there is a facebook user who has confirmed speaking to the SSA and got the above response. I have copy-pasted that in my USC notes below (link in my signature).
I will update my language as its my own opinion, not official. Thank you again.

ImmiGeek reacted to Elphaba in Anyone REALLY lost naturalization certificate in the mail after passport?
It may not yet be possible. Remember the majority of passport applicants are born in the US and sending nice, cheap birth certificates as evidence. If it gets lost, who cares? Just pay $20 for another one!

Really this is a great opportunity to exercise your First Amendment right "to petition the Government for a redress of grievances". Contact your house representative and/or the Department of State, and tell them you think it would be great, if under-privileged immigrants who have no choice but to use expensive Certificates of Naturalization/Citizenship as passport evidence, had the option to pay extra to get those documents returned with tracking and insurance! At least with insurance, if they got lost, the insurance should cover the replacement fee.
