My husband is in the same situation (worked for three summers in 2013, 2014 and 2015) for 4 months at a time on a J1 visa at a summer camp in New York teaching martial arts. He's now applying for an adjustment of status/green card from a K1 visa.

Did you have any issues with this? Any recommendations for what "proof" to show? Does he just need to show the copies of the visas from those years?

We are in this situation too and have literally NOTHING from the J1, not even the passport with the visa. We had to send like 400 FOIA requests (you could try a FOIA for the forms) and emails to companies and home countries and got back a bunch of "we have no record." Lol. We are a bit far out from getting to AOS interview but all we will have are FOIA email responses. 🤷 Immigration is so fun 😂

Fiance cannot wait inside. Rules have changed. No one but applicant is allowed inside.

Weird. I just went March 27 and we were allowed inside. Must have changed since then.

Outside the building.  As of April 1, 2019 they are not letting anyine but applicants inside. Yesterday for example they would not allow one gentlemans fiancee in to wait

    That is cruel lol

Yes all of the necessary boxes are checked!! Doctor Signed good to go!!!

Yay!! Yes, don't fall for the "civil surgeon transfer" mumbo jumbo... if you files AOS right away there won't be any issues. Might be issues if the medical is way old, 6 months? Or a year? I can't recall, but if it's from less than 6 months there definitely should not be an issue other than an uninformed officer.

Just a heads up for anybody reading this! For AOS you are going to need DS-3025 (Vaccination Documentation signed by the Panel Physician) from what I have read here if you provide this you do not need to provide form I-693. If I am wrong in any way please correct me! Just an added note if you want the extra security you can also get a copy of the I-693!

I only learned that from the lovely people waiting in line with me yesterday! I called my panel physician, Dr. Ian Zatzman, and was able to get a copy since they did not provide one to me originally. I'm going to pick it up from their office tomorrow!

So in the case you do not get a copy contact your panel physician and they will provide it to you! This will just make AOS much easier!

It also has to have the box checked on the form that says all vaccinations are completed. I've seen people get RFEs if they send in that form and it is not checked so make sure it has that check mark! :)

Not true - Fiance can go into the consulate and sit with the applicant and all. They just dont go up to the window or into the interview room.

I got my police check done as soon as we got the NOA2. I did the fingerprints under the privacy act and got the form in the mail today! I am nervous though, it doesn’t seem like it has a lot of information. It just says no personal information about you was found in the data bank then a file number beside it. Then it says privacy act request type: Other (provide details) but then there are no details. It also has the date I was fingerprinted, etc. Is this correct?

Sounds like the exact correct one! In some old threads we have seen it varies whether or not they put "other" with no details, or "for non-certified criminal information" - but either of these have worked with no issues at the interview. The databank number is "CMP-PPU-030", iirc they all say that same databank # but don't quote me on that :)

Has anyone gotten their police checks yet? Is it appropriate to get it right after the NOA2 approval? How long does it usually take to come in the mail?

Definitely a good time to get police checks. They take about 2 weeks or less. Also I recommend getting any needed vaccines (as some double dose ones need a month-ish if you have to get them) or vaccine documentation. :)

Hi MeghanK.  Have you filed your AOS paperwork yet?   Is there a forum I can follow?   My interview isn’t until June 5th but getting paperwork done as much as I can right now so it’s ready to go after our wedding June 21st.

Ahhh sadly no, we aren't even in the u.s. together yet. But we are also actively working on the AOS paperwork now. There is a K1 to AOS forum though if you go to the main forum area and scroll down a bit. It has been pretty helpful so far, same with the K1 AOS guide which is in the "Guides" menu :)

Honestly there isn't much new material needed and a lot you can recycle from the interview if you have extra copies or saved it all digitally.

  8. My fiance was a Canadian PR at the time of filing our petition. We sent a copy of his PR card with our I-129f packet, though looking back, I'm not sure what exactly prompted us to do that. He was never asked for further proof of status from the Consulate, while many others on our timeline were. So it is good to note that sending proof of status with the initial petition likely helps prevent that.

And like others have said, MTL is super slow. Even at consulate received April 5, you're really not that far beyond averages of late. Also keep in mind, if your birth country is a high fraud country, you may expect to see an extended Administrative Processing time after interview even though you spent hardly any time there. Just in case you need to mentally prepare.

Thank you :) You made my day. I can patiently wait for that ( I'll try lol)  .  I much rather wait for next shipment then get stuck  somewhere at NVC for weeks.  Thanks for taking your time in answering my question.

No problem, best of luck - you're almost there!!

Thank you so much.  I was freaking out because when I called they told me it was in AP (  they explained to me everyone goes through that) getting ready to be shipped.  But a friend who's CASE number was assigned on the 24th her status change to transit Monday night ( 29th) , received e-email Tuesday morning (30th).   It makes sense that hers made it through the shipment and mine didn't,.

That sounds about right. You unfortunately got stuck with the worst date to get the case assignment along the shipment timelines, but at least you know you're pretty much guaranteed to go out with the next shipment now :)

    Hi guys,

Just wondering how long it takes for NVC  status to change to " Transit" after a case number is assigned. ( K-1 VISA)

    Thanks!

Most likely 1-2 weeks. Cases ship out of NVC every other week on Tues&Weds... so it depends on when your case # was assigned in comparison to when the soonest shipment date is. If you check the current "NOA2 to NVC thread" there should be more info in there on which weeks are shipment weeks.

Not sure exactly when the Consulate received it but it left NVC on November 27, 2018. I received the request for proof of citizenship letter on December 17 and responded via email, as per the instructions. The Consulate acknowledged my proof via email on December 31. P3 was received via email on January 7.

We were in the same NVC shipment! Consulate received it on Nov 29. Our P3 was mailed out on December 12th and arrived to us on about Dec 26th. We sent P3 Dec 31 and received P4 January 10th.

Also a note for anyone currently trying to compare timelines. The consulate was SUPER slowed down during these above dates due to all the holidays, and even though people deny it - I'm assuming the govt shutdown slowed things even more. Current consulate movement is much faster than ours on Nov-Jan.

Thanks!! I hope the P3 comes. I read that some people dont get it along so they just kind of send it and then the coincidence is that they then receive P4.

Everyone gets P3. Some people send in the P3 reply before their actual P3 makes it to them via mail. They will only send P4 as response to an early submitted P3 if the actual P3 has been issued. It is hit or miss with this kind of guessing, some people get P4, some people get "do not send this yet"

I actually don't know how to tell. The email containing the case number is dated April 16. When I called NVC they gave me an invoice number and the date April 16. As of April 22 CEAC said In transit (i think? I can't recall if that's the phrase). Then I checked today it said ready. Interesting. I just read it somewhere today, unless I read wrong. It's good to know P3 comes by mail. I hear some people don't receive it at all.

It most likely arrived at the consulate on April 18 (assuming the 16th is the date it left NVC?). You could try emailing P3 in, there's a small chance they mailed it today but more than likely wait for the next date change on your status and that will probably be when they mail P3.

  16. 6 minutes ago, KristineGB said:

Do they actually mail out? I read that everything is via email? I forget where I read it. Did you receive packet 3 via post? My status just changed to READY.

I haven't seen any instances if P3 being sent via email for as long as I've been tracking things (last October ish). And yes ours came by mail and it took almost two weeks to make it across the country lol.

When did your case get to the consulate? It's been taking 2-3 weeks for P3 to be sent after consulate received.
