I need to do my social security update as well before my trip.
Why?

This question comes up too frequently here. There is no correct or incorrect way. You're now a free citizen of a free society. Sign your name however you want.

Your passport? Are you a citizen? The other posters in this thread are waiting to become citizens.

None of the info we'd prepared in order to show ties to the US during that period was asked for.
That's usually the case with the tons of info people take with them after reading this site (full disclosure: I will take all my tax transcripts, account transcripts and full returns because what's another dead tree?)

(He already have the passport but in case something happened I heard they ask for proof of Naturalization, hence I applied for him)
A passport (even expired) is all the proof he will ever need. You should have donated that $1170 to charity.

No one here is employment-based?

I'm sure you rocked the English and history/civics questions, so no need to share those. What were you asked about your current and past jobs? Thanks!

USCIS carries on rain or shine because a) its funding doesn't come from appropriations and b) its employees are "essential" so can't be furloughed. That said, your "dream wall" dig is neither witty nor necessary.

congratulations ...... most of the june n400 applicants are nearing completion.....
Are we looking at the same data? I'm counting 59 entries, of which 42 have not received an interview yet. How are most applicants nearing completion?

Use your best judgment.

Last night my husband got into an altercation at work with a customer who kept provoking him saying things about his mother ( who is deceased). My husband warned him multiple times to watch what he is saying and have some respect.
Sounds like you're trying to justify an act of violence. It doesn't matter if he was provoked, that's not a socially (and legally) acceptable way to behave. But don't listen to me (and please don't hurt me) - tell it to the judge!

That streak is over, obviously.

Thank you! Very helpful. Just in theory, changing jobs and moving within the US won’t raise any flags right?
I hope for your sake that you're not actually making life decisions based on what that person said.

First a couple of months can be risky because it is not a given you will be let back in without a challenge. There is no fixed rule on how long a green card holder can be absent.
Your last statement is correct. And it's contradicting your first statement, which is basically incorrect and unsupported (assuming "a couple" actually means 2, not 6+).
On 11/30/2018 at 12:14 PM, flyingkites said:Second, you don't want to be away when you get your interview date. You have a month's notice but it could prove expensive to have to return hastily.
That's a completely different issue and not what the OP asked about. Could be easily handled by purchasing an open ticket.
On 11/30/2018 at 12:14 PM, flyingkites said:Not having a job will no look good at an interview.
Why? Having a job is not a legal requirement for naturalization. Do you have any evidence for this statement?
On 11/30/2018 at 12:14 PM, flyingkites said:Given the above I would think again about leaving the country.
Thinking is good, but jumping to unsupported conclusions is not.

The letter asks us for emoloyment verification letters for both my husband and I as well as two recent pay stubs. My husband is filing under the three year rule.
Employment verification letters and pay stubs? Why? I've never heard of any such requirement, as employment is not a legal requirement for citizenship.

I'm thinking she misunderstood the rep that was administering the test.
She did. There is nothing to update since she's not a citizen yet. In fact, if she does that she may be jeopardizing her citizenship because non-citizens are leglly prohibited from representing themselves as citizens.

Yes, this is my concern. As I was working in Oz, as a Brit with a GC, for an American family I traveled with there and back whom also paid me in USD in USA....!
I'd be very surprised if USCIS got involved in this, it's between you and the Australians.

if you are legally working shouldn't be a problem.
I think the concern is she wasn't legally working since she didn't have an Australian work visa.

To be honest, just listen to the evening news and Sunday news shows regularly, and one should be half the way there (and more engaged in contemporary political issues). The history you can read up from the citizenship booklet.
Agreed. It always baffled me how anyone who's been in this country for more than 3 years can find the test difficult. For kicks and giggles, google the UK citizenship test. Now THAT's difficult.

Why does it matter?

Is this something you can control? If not, why does it matter?

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but "in line for interview" can mean anything from "your interview is in a month" to "your interview is in a year." It's basically just another way to say "keep waiting and stop calling us."
