I have read that the best way to have any foreign degree evaluated is through the WES services. I haven't used it myself but know from researching about phd programs in the USA that they prefer that WES is used. The fees may be expensive but I think they offer 2 types of evalution: for professional work or for academic.

Unlike in the US, or perhaps any other country, there is no birth certificate in Turkey.
I searched if there was anything similar but the only official document that provides someone's birth information is their Turkish Identification Card (Nüfüs Cüzdanı) and Passport.  
So, we sent photocopies of: both our Nüfüz Cüzdanı, Nüfüs Kayıt Örneği, and Passports just to be sure, in case they wouldn't accept one or the other!

we we have just been approved for our visa and are planning to move to the states next week. I just wanted to double check that the only required documents to get into the states are the passport, visa and doctors exam. The closed envelope is now digital so it is available at the immigration checkpoint. Is there anything I'm forgetting? 

I would suggest calling NVC. Thats what I did and I learned that our interview date has already been scheduled but, we havent received the letter yet. Our cc was september 21 for Turkey, they seem to be scheduling interviews for september cc's.  

Finally have my physical green card in hand now.💃

From what I've read, it's a year between each step at NVC. I.e. once your approved I-130 has been transferred to NVC, you have one year to send in the choice of agent, one year to pay the AOS, one year to pay the IV and so on. You can basically drag out the NVC process for years. Resuming now after three months is fine, no problem at all.

I'm in the IT field as well and have recently applied to numerous companies. I'm currently working in a position where I'm in charge of hiring contract workers so I've gone through countless resumes. Listed below are some general opinions.
- Don't complicate the resume with odd formatting. Most websites have you upload resume and register through their ATS (Application Tracking Systems). During that process, the spacing, and formatting may get all out of whack anyways.
- PDF or word does not really matter. However, if you create a Word Doc, save it as .doc (legacy format) and not .docx (current format). Some companies have outdated Office Applications so it's better to save in a format that has been used for ages.
- When I go through resumes, it only takes me about 10 seconds to immediately tell if the candidate meets our business needs. Main thing I look for are skill sets that are relevant to the position.
- Don't waste time listing your knowledge of all versions of windows, programs, etc.. Only used the most recent programs you are familiar with. No one cares that you are familiar with Windows 98 for example.
- It's against the law in the US to discriminate against age but it occurs pretty often. So when doing resume, only flesh out the info from your most recent jobs and mention the years of experience at that company. Don't show irrelevant jobs or entry level jobs from more than 10 years ago.

I actually used the free filing system for H&R block and it helped out a lot. 
 
But, I can't file my return online-using their system- because I need to fill in the SSN space for my spouse. Being that he is an NRA (non-resident alien) I have to get an ITIN for him now. So that sucks! Otherwise the free filing system is pretty useful.

I think you're correct with the timeline. It usually says though that it can take up to 6 weeks for the NVC to receive the case. Hopefully it won't take that long. Good luck

Keep the patience going! We have PD june 26 2017 and are still waiting too .. We're almost there it seems, not so much time left. Hang in there 

You're fine without the letter, as long as you have your receipt number you can check the status online. Unfortunately NSC (Nebraska) is very slow right now & taking about 9-12 months for the approval. What you can do now is read up & learn about the next step at NVC.

i did send out the letter because the lawyer we spoke to said it’s better to give them the info asap instead of waiting for an RFE because when I file the DS-260 at the second stage of the process, i’ll have to include the same information anyway. 
 
Funnily though, in my case, my letter and my I-130 approval crossed paths. On the day I sent out the letter I received the I-130 approval. So now, I’m not sure if USCIS will still help me to update the info i sent. If not, i’ll just include the information I want to add in my DS-260 later on. 
 
In my case, the missing info was an alias that I almost never used, hence we forgot to include it. I’m not sure what the information you are hoping to add is and whether it will warrant an RFE. 

Got our I-797 notice of action(NOA2) in the mail today(Feb 5th).
Notice date: 31st Jan 2018
Prority Date:7th june 2017
 
That is a wait of 243 days between NOA1 and NOA2 arriving in the post)
 
(Still not updated on the 'USCIS APP', or case status online check on USCIS.gov).
 
Now to bug the NVC/DOS everyday until they assign a case number to my petition.

Hey guys. Just wanted to update you all and let you know that I just received the notification that our I-130 has FINALLY, after nearly 14 months of waiting, been sent to the department of state. Although I feel relieved to be moving onto the next phase, I know that we still have months more of waiting to do. Just glad that this part of the process is finally over. 

she received the mail. it was not updated online, no email or text sent. just today I received an email stating it was sent to the nvc on the 17th. online has also been updated. 
 
doea anyone know how long it normally takes for nvc to receive it?
